Went to Cattlemen’s on Sunday afternoon, they were not busy except for the people at the bar, we sat down, were handed menus and that is where it stopped, we sat there for 20 min and not a word from anyone. The person that handed us a menu was later discovered she was one of the owners who was sitting at the bar talking drinking and laughing with the others. We walked out and not even sure they noticed. I called and spoke with said owner and she said it was her day off and apologized, this was not what I expected from an owner and not making sure things are run like they are suppose to be. Never will I go back.

I ordered the Mac and cheese steak Burger and honestly, it might be one of the worst things I’ve had at a restaurant in a long time. It came out looking nothing like the menu photo. The patty was dry, barely warm, and somehow still greasy at the same time. The bun was stale, the toppings tasted like they were thrown on last minute, and the whole thing fell apart after two bites. For the price, it felt like I paid for a fast food reject

I write this review with much sadness and regret. And based on the response from the owner on some of these other reviews, I’m sure I’m going to get the same defensive and uncaring attitude regarding my feedback, which is extremely regretful. The business is that do well long-term have superior service and truly care about their customer feedback instead of going online and justifying their lack of service or poor business practices . We have gone to Cattleman‘s for many years when Tony Bellino owned the restaurant . He was a very kind, warm and professional host and had very fair prices and very fair and ethical practices. The new owner is the opposite. He’s never smiling. He never greets anyone which wouldn’t bother me so much since the wait staff are mostly very friendly. However, the new owners have decided to engage in a very sneaky, unfair and deceptive bait & switch practice without even announcing to the customers before hand. They do not advertise it anywhere on their website or their menus. At least not up until today. They are starting to charge a $5 splitting fee when we never even told the waiter that we wanted to split something. And the waiter never told us that there was a split fee before we ordered or after we ordered !! Rather than get 2 entrées, My husband and I spent almost $15 to upgrade the burrito chicken bowl. We added extra chicken extra beans and sour cream. That was close to $15, which was the price of many entrées. However, even with the extra cost and the fact that the meal alone was close to $40, they decided to sneak in a five dollar split charge without our knowledge whatsoever. Including tip, this brought the price of our burrito bowl to $50. There is absolutely no justification for charging a splitting fee when you’re spending $40 and especially when you do not tell people ahead of time about this fee. Yes, my husband and I shared the bowl but spending $40 is more than getting two burgers or chicken sandwiches so they are still getting more of our money than if we would have ordered two entrées. It makes no business sense whatsoever to alienate customers this way. I can understand if we went in and split a bowl of soup. People split an order of nachos all the time. How about an order of wings? Are you going to charge people for splitting that as well? The worst thing about all of this is that they did not let us know that there was a split fee. Going to cattlemen’s for many years and being regular customers, stepping in 2 to 4 times a month regularly, we never ever had this problem when Mr. Bellino owned the place. He would never pull something like this. He would not charge a split fee and he would not deceptively tack it last minute without our knowledge, even if he considered it. I understand that cost have gone up and restaurants need to make money, however, this is not the way to do it and there’s no justifiable business reason to do this when someone is spending that much money in your restaurant. If we were going to come in and split a bowl of soup or something that was very cheap, I can understand it, but not when I am spending well more than the amount of two entrées. Sadly, after many years of enjoying the restaurant, we will likely never go there again. And quite frankly, with the attitude of the owner that I have so far observed, I don’t really think he understands or cares. Eventually, these type of practices will catch up with him and he will go out of business. There are so many great restaurants in downtown Algonquin but it’s still a loss to see Cattlemans go downhill like this. I also do blame the waiter for not telling us ahead of time about the split charge. I would have chosen to get a soup or another small item if that would have prevented it. However, that should not have even been necessary since I upcharged my meal With expensive add-onsby almost $15.

Electronic tablet for a menu? Cool, I just hope they wipe them down between guests. We had the cheese curds for the appetizer, and they were really good. I had a smash burger with fries. When the fries stick out straight when you hold them by the end, and they have a snap when you bite them, they're almost worth their own review. I'm sorry I forgot what the rest of my family had, but I do know that they enjoyed whatever it was.

Such a nice place. Burgers were delicious, fries were great and I tried the Cucumber jalapeño margarita and it definitely didn’t disappoint. The atmosphere was on point and the waiter Dominic did a great job! If I lived here, I would definitely be back. Really nice downtown area location!

Wre in the Algonquin area and looked at the menu online and looked interesting. The restaurant is basically a bar with booths and high boys. Sat in a booth and not comfortable at all.
They use an electronic menu to look at. Ordered drinks. Had a special on BBR Ribs half and full slab , so the half was ordered and a Burrito Chicken Bowl. Ribs were okay but way too much sauce. Chicken Bowl was good.
Service was good. Received the check and was surprised to see calculated gratuities of 20, 25 and 30% suggested. Seriously?

What can I say, I LOVE Cattleman’s!! Mike and Katelyn have done a really amazing job with amazing food- apps and entrees. You’re always made to feel like “you’re home” at this downtown bar and eatery. Riki, Dominic, Janina, Elijah, and the whole crew are awesome.
I love the trivia nights on Monday, Singo Bingo on Wednesday… and KARAOKE on Tuesdays and Thursdays are my favorite.
You can’t go wrong with any of the food. Burgers and wraps are great. My favorites are the BLT and the Ribs mmmm.

I’ve been coming here since Tony owned it so about almost 6 years now and became even more of a regular since Mike&Katlin have became owners. It’s like a home away from home to me. Rikki and JT and Rhonda And Dominic and Elijah are all amazing servers and JT and Rikki are great bartenders as well. It’s a place I can go to as a woman and be alone and feel totally safe and comfortable. The food is always amazing! Mike&Katlin are amazing owners and very accommodating as well which is why I’m there more than once a week for the most part. Danimals karaoke is the best in town and is on Tuesdays and Thursdays and it’s a party to say the least. When I came for Halloween in 2024 I had the best time ever and the dj Lee is so good too on Fridays if ya like to dance he’s got you.
