Buns and always dirty bringing what is supposed to be clean dishes but they still had food stuck to them and the workers look like they just came off a hard weekend with Charlie Sheen

I left this place 20 mins (before 10 AM) ago without a purchase. I went in for the breakfast buffet on 1.2.26. There was no one at the counter, I had to wait 3 to 4 minutes until someone came. Then comes Maria from the right side of the restaurant to charge me. On the 2 large TV screens hanging it is clearly shown breakfast buffet at $11.99. My total comes to $13 something. I asked Maria why is she charging me more than listed?
She tells me the price has changed in the system and the TVs will be changed later today. Maria says it's only 60 cents more. I told her that is false advertisement and the price should be honored. Maria says she can't. I ask to speak to a manager, she there isn't one on site, then I ask for a supervisor, same not on site, then I ask phone #, I didn't get one.
After the back and forth with Maria, I told her forget it, I will leave and go elsewhere. She says I will give you the discount. The needless bk and forth and she had the ability to give the discount at the beginning.
As I was leaving the counter a employee comes in to clock in for their shift. Maria then speaks ill of me with the other employee in Spanish. I am not fully away from the counter. I am bilingual I understood what was said.
At least wait until a person leaves the restaurant to say whatever.
Management do better, poor customer service

My 77 yo dad likes to go here so I take him for Christmas because I can't cook all the food he likes to eat for Christmas. I've been going to buffets with him most of my life. There really aren't many around anymore so I'm thankful for the GC. According to my dad the one near him is filthy but he says this one is clean. I would say it's in the middle. My husband, son, and I always seem to manage to find decent food here. It's a buffet so if you dont like something find something else. 🤷🏼♀️ Sometimes they use too much salt in their food and I think it's just by accident. One time they removed the mashed potatoes for this reason and made more. This last visit I noticed the stuffing was too salty. I didn't eat the stuffing but you know it worked out because they put a fresh batch of bread pudding out so I had the room to eat that at desert time. I think these reviews are too harsh. Especially regarding the staff. Everyone is always so friendly to us and you know if they were mean people it would come out on Christmas Day but it never does. Yeah the pot roast was a little dry this time but I've made it at home before and sometimes a certain piece of meat just cooks different even if you've made it the same way as always. The GC isn't meant to be some high end Gordon Ramsey approved restaurant. It's got the Midwest appeal and we don't waste food here so just leave the chicken for someone else if you dont like it. Perhaps the dryer pot roast will be up your alley. Gravy exists for this reason imo. If your aunt Sally made it you'd still eat it. You can definitely find $25 worth of good food here to eat. I never make it to the Mexican bar but it looks delicious. They have amazing hush puppies, too. My son loves the fish. And my husband always gets a large piece of steak put on his plate. And guess what? He can go back and get more steak if he didn't find the first cut satisfying (which is rare, pun intended).

🤮The Algonquin Golden Corral is one of the worst run Eateries of this disgusting franchise. The management is absolutely clueless, useless and incompetent. They double book groups in their rooms, no communication with co-managers, poorly managed staff, disgusting flatware and dishware with food embedded on it. Dirty bathrooms and more! This is definitely a place one would NOT want to eat at. Dirty, uncleaned and uncleared tables... Just a place you'd never wish to eat at again. 0 Stars. Thumbs down. Don't plan ANY kind of stop at this establishment. We contacted the manager (William) to tell him about all the issues we encountered. There was not even an apology! The Golden Corral Management and staff failed on all levels. Sorry to see this. We used to like Golden Corral, but the service, and especially the cleanliness has been getting worse and worse to where we had to contact them to let them know. They don't seem to care about correcting any issues, much less apologizing... That would have been moderately decent start. That never happened. Apparently management at this Golden Corral was never trained properly or doesn't understand how to run a restaurant or how to please customers in the least bit.
Its good food ,but dirty carpet, old looking, needs a refresh. Waiter /Manager should be working at high end establishment, he is professional and attentive

Nasty food causing upset stomach within the first plate, plates are not entirely clean, food still stuck to them.
Let's get into the food, shall we?
When walking around you see old food sitting out all over the place, it is clear to the naked eye without touch, items have dried spots from the heat lamps, the chicken smells like upchuck cat food, the fish is plain right rubber. I was atleast hoping to get some dessert but even down to the cake, textures are off, flavor just isn't there, I was not convinced their chocolate chip cookies on immediate sight were what they say they are, as they look like oatmeal raisin cookies; the carrot cake was basically just carrot with some cake and a mound of frosting, traditional cake frosting it seems, not cream cheese frosting.
Overall nearly $50 for 2 people to "eat" and we couldn't even get down more than 10 bites and that was trying each item we picked up.
We both left hungry, and only one of us could even stomach something more.

Remember when the food here actually tasted like FOOD, yeah, us too. The food here is borderline dog food nowadays. At least the dessert was OK. Would not be surprised if our bootyholes are BLASTING later. 😂

We went to the GC because we liked coming here before Covid. But this time we really did not enjoy it. The food was bland and the meat we had was dry. I tried their hard shell tacos, and the meat was flavorless. The best part was the desserts but by that time I felt the place was lacking. I really used to like this place so it's sad what it has become.
Vegetarian options: It was 32 dollars and some change for my wife and I. I'd say save your money.

Let me tell you this food was absolutely disgusting when we ate there last night! Actually, we left hungry and had to go to McDonald’s. I didn’t even get to eat anything and the other four people in my family hardly had anything. We made two complaints to our server. For the price of what we spent to eat there and the food that was presented was disgusting! The cook was only one person back there. The steaks were burnt on the outside raw on the inside.. We had to wait 40 minutes for mashed potatoes, chicken, and mac & cheese, after asking for some to be put out. Then, when the mac & cheese was put out, it was ice cold. He was not putting fresh food out. It was old and hard, and some trays were empty. Horrible, horrible horrible experience! Such a waste of money. Do not eat here

Before this place was great. I came in yesterday at 530 pm and was a terrible experience. Tried clam chowder and chicken noodle soup and both tasted off and barely any soup in both pots. Fried chicken was dry and it usually was my favorite. Hame pork and turkey were dry even with gravy. Chicken livers over cooked. Pineapple was sweet and great and steak was decent if the guy would of made it rare liked i asked would have been great. Server was decent but could of filled drinks more than once. Carpet was sticky and stained. Bathrooms were so so. Also please watch chocolate tower as I watched little kids take a bite of dessert and put under fountain again. Had to ask for fudge to be put out. Not sure why they went down hill. Spent good money for 1 place each. Me and my wife drove from foxlake to meet my 80 year old aunt there for her birthday dinner and very disappointed as I stated. So not only a waste of money for 3 people but also waste of gas. Hope they fix the issues. Thank you. Sincerely Ray
