I’ve ordered from Chick and the Pig several times and the food is genuinely very good — no complaints at all about the quality or taste.

However, on my most recent visit, several items were missing from my order. The bags are usually tied shut, and since this has never happened before, I didn’t think to check before leaving. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize the mistake until I got home.

To their credit, someone from the restaurant actually called to apologize and asked if I could come back to pick up the missing items. I appreciated the call and the apology, and they even offered to drive the items to me. But by that point I was already home, eating, and not planning to head back out.

Mistakes happen, and I do appreciate that they tried to make it right. That said, it was frustrating and inconvenient, so I would strongly recommend checking your order before leaving — even if the bag is tied and everything seems fine.

The food is great. Just double-check your order.

We ordered online while we were in town for an appointment. Placed our order around 6:54 for 2 burger Wednesday deals, and it was done probably within 10 minutes. The burger hit the spot! Perfectly cooked (not well done like some places) great seasoning. If we are in the area we will grab something more than a burger, since that set the bar pretty high.

My son came across this small take out place and we keep going back for the delicious brisket loaded fries. It’s a small place with seasonal outdoor picnic tables but they are big on flavor, we have tried the chicken sandwiches, Mac and cheese, onion rings and fries. Definitely worth the reasonable price for the loaded fries and daily specials, you must add Mac and cheese sauce when you try the fries and you will be going back!

I ordered two Christmas Ham dinners for Christmas eve. They were nice & hot and were delicious. I would definitely order again. This made our holiday a little less chaotic! I highly recommend trying their catering.

I don't normally post when I don't like something (don't want to be a whiner) but since the business is new, I hope the feedback would be taken constructively and improvements will be made.

First the good... I ordered a pulled chicken sandwich. It was an off-menu item offered to me because I have dietary constraints. It was very kind of the cashier to think of it. The sandwich was a good size and had a generous portion of meat. I loved the bun! It was a unique fluffy bread with a crust of cornmeal. Very different!!

It is a carry-out mostly place; there are a few picnic tables outside. The game table with retro video games is really fun to play while waiting.

Now the not so good... It was typical northern barbeque: shredded meat drowned in sauce. Some people like it that way, I guess if it's all they ever knew. And it can be ok - if the sauce is really good.

But I found the sauce to lack flavor and it had way too much vinegar. It was supposed to be spicy but it wasn't spicy at all. There were no pickles or jalapenos to contrast the (lack of) flavor. Pulled chicken is difficult as it is but this chicken was chewy, dry and it had no smoke flavor at all. The way the chicken was swimming in sauce, it was as if the idea was to cover up what the meat lacked - which might have worked if the sauce was good. But it wasn't.

I spent five years in the deep south and had the good fortune of sampling pulled-pork sandwiches from all over two adjacent states. The best barbeque places were the ones where you could smell the smoke from outside the building. They used tons of hardwood to create the smoke and only slow-smoked the meat. The product was really tender, juicy and smoky. The meat is so good the sauce ends up being a complement rather than a cover-up. Sauce is never mixed into the meat. If any sauce is served, it is drizzled on top of the meat. One place only served a seasoned au jus on the side made from the meat drippings. It was fabulous! So smoky and delicious!

And get this, cole slaw is a standard condiment on pulled pork sandwiches in the deep south (Alabama, Georgia). I subbed dill pickles whenever the cole slaw was made with mayonnaise (because I hate mayonnaise), but if it was vinegar cole slaw, I would leave it on. It was great!!!

With the internet and AI, it can't be too hard to replicate real southern barbeque and bring it to the north. Any business that succeeds at that and also figures out how to properly smoke chicken to make an awesome, smokey pulled chicken sandwich will have a line out the door.

There are so many mediocre restaurants in this area we don't need one more. I love the concept of the Chick and the Pig and I will go back to try the fried chicken, but I'm not a fan of northern mediocre barbeque after experiencing real southern barbeque.

I hope the owner will consider reformulating the barbeque recipes to bring us real barbeque that is all about the meat and knocks it out if the park. I will be updating my review if that happens.

We LOVE the food at Bold, so we wanted to check this place out. We ordered the chili, burger, mashed potatoes, 1/2 slab of ribs, corn muffin, and a piece of the pecan pie.
The ribs were very good, but not hot. The chili had no taste and was cold. The burger was also cold. It tasted like it was taken out of the fridge and maybe put on the griddle to try to warm it up. The mash potatoes were creamy and tasty. The pie was very good too.
If we ever go back, I think we will stick to the ribs.
