Both the root beer and cream soda are great, love that it is low in sugar and still tastes great!

I don't drink rootbeer. but I drink Buds homemade rootbeer. the birch has an affect on your nose when you exhale, giving the affect of carbonation. not to mention, less than a teaspoon of sugar so it's refreshing

We live in STL and for the past few years whenever we would go to Alton area we'd stop here so we've been about 10 times in the last 4 years. We've never really had a good customer service experience there, but the food was always pretty good so we kept going there. Now that isn't even the case. The place has always been dirty but after Covid they have tried to clean it up a bit. After the last time we went in February, that was the last time. We ordered 2 bacon cheese burgers, fries, mushrooms and gallon of root beer. The woman behind the counter actually got mad at us about the root beer because she had to put it in the gallon jug and I'm guessing it isn't easy cause she complained the entire time. We had to wait over 30 minutes for our food - it came out w/o the mushrooms at all and no bacon on our cheeseburgers (cheeseburgers were dry and hard). When we came back in from the car 2 minutes later to tell her - she more or less said we were lying that it was all there and we hadn't ordered bacon (thank goodness I kept the receipt). So she's like what do you want me to do? Well, give us what we ordered!! She gave us a little container with bacon in it and after another 15 minutes we got our fried mushrooms. That was it, no more going back there. Their prices are high (especially figuring in not getting everything you pay for) and their service is slow and bad. They do have a manager that is a little better when he is there - but not much. It isn't a busy place you wouldn't think they wouldn't be so angry and disorganized but I'm guessing they just don't care.

The 3 C's; Casual, cozy and cheap. Quirky, not too quick but well worth the trip. Locals call-in. I have never been in here that there wasn't a gazillion people coming in for pick-ups. 1 man, last trip, placed an hour to be ready at 6:30 pm, while we were in there around 5ish.
