Love this place! Had the 3 roll lunch combo with soup. Was very good!! I really want to try a few other rolls!

Best birthday dinner ever. Good food. Fairly priced. Dining area is nicely decorated, a separate hibachi room and there is ample of parking. Conveniently located off Homer Adams with a stoplight opposite a Mickey D's. Shogun is the better choice that you won't regret. One of the better restaurants in Alton.

Very good sushi options and prices. Avoid the calamari, however as it is bland and rubbery. When I went in to get carry out on a week night, there were at least a dozen employees milling about, most on their phones and maybe 8 guests in the whole restaurant, so best of luck to the management on staying in business with that kind of labor overhead.

Always come back for the hibachi. We enjoy getting matched up with new people and having good conversation. This time had a party with 3 young kids, seeing them enjoy the show was enjoyable.

You walk in and are immediately immersed in the culture. Beautiful decor of a time period of Japanese culture. We were immediately seated for the lunch hour. Once inside i began to take pictures of the interior because it was so pretty. Immediately I notice beautiful colored lights around each of the Hibachi stations. The other thing I notice, are a staff of workers cleaning the other Hibachi stations, including where your legs and feet would be. That is true dedication to the clean. It always makes me realize I am eating at the correct restaurant when I see a staff member cleaning. Now the food. Excellent all the way around. Steak, shrimp, and fried rice is what I ordered, and it was cooked up fast, and all the ingredients looked fresh. I also ordered the spicy crab roll. It was good. There were plenty of people seated for lunch, so this place stays fairly busy. Between the Hibachi and the sushi I was stuffed. The waiter was very attentive. The chef \"John\", was an incredible talent. My co-workers and I will definitely be back to this location. We are looking forward to dinner, when the interior lights will sparkle. The bathroom was clean. Great experience because you can tell the owner takes great pride in his establishment. Try the Yum Yum Sauce!!

The hibachi is always good. As with any restaurant; your experience is mostly based on the server. And in these cases, the Chef is also your 'server'. Haven't had a bad experience with one of their chefs in the three times we've had the full experience. I find the entrées in the restaurant portion to be a little over-priced. But I haven't had anything that wasn't really good. I would like to make special note of Echo who was our bartender while we waited for a table. He was friendly, and engaging. I will be going back when I know he's there, just to have a few drinks. I recommend this place. As long as you plan on spending $40-60 per person, and are not in a hurry. Also: ask for Yum-Yum Sauce with everything. Thank me later.

Always hit or miss as far as quality and service. On our last visit something was “off” with the salmon in our Philly rolls. I addressed it with the server who was apologetic and took the roll to the manager who was sitting eating with his back to the restaurant. The manager said a few words to the server who then returned without the plate with the roll on it to let me know that there was nothing wrong with the salmon. He didn't bring the food back nor offer any resolution.

Made a reservation, they forgot to write it down. Wait to be seated was over an hour (all while I was supposed to have a reservation) food is terrible, if I am going to pay that kind of money-and eat hibachi, I'll drive the extra 30 minutes, and go to Kobe

The staff is very accommodating. We came in at lunch with a party of 16 with no reservation and they had us seated within 10 minutes. The atmosphere was fabulous. Food was great right from the grill. So much fun.

Usually love Shogun, my husband has taken my daughter on daddy/daughter dates to hibachi many times - just the two of them. My daughter always gets a kid meal and doesn't like the hibachi food, but they have never had a problem eating there. I took my daughter in for lunch and ordered drinks and then we were told she had to order hibachi or we couldn't eat there. So we left. Disappointed, if your policy has changed, you should post it clearly or if it's not a new policy - enforce it regularly AND post it clearly.
