I got a Birria quesadilla with rice, the rice was amazing and Birria was good. So far it was the most authentic Mexican place I’ve been to. Our waitress wasn’t very friendly, but maybe she was having a bad day. It was reasonably priced and a quiet little place.

Ordered our food online for first time coming here and was left with no food, no refund, no real explanation other than putting blame on door dash yet, door dash was the only ones who even called us after being told by the restaurant there was no food order placed for us. Yet, I was charged, it was withdrawn from my account and NOT by door dash either. It was taken from our account by taqueria maya via bank statement. I called to get any information, refund, discounted service or the very least the food I paid 50 bucks for. Well, my gf and I was left not eating dinner that night. And left with absolutely no resolution, nor direction on where and what could be done to fix this & what they can do to ensure it don’t happen again to someone else buying delivery online and on THEIR WEBSITE!! Obviously, we won’t be going back and that’s a disappointment for us as we are huge Mexican food fans.

This is BY FAR the best Mexican food in Alton. The melas are so consistently delicious, hot, and fresh. They put new things on the menu often, so it’s fun to try something I’ve not had before. The salsa is my favorite salsa ever, we could drink buckets of it! The margaritas are excellent and such a steal of a price, too. And the service and atmosphere are outstanding. This is a family owned restaurant and they take so much pride in their business. We think they’re positively the best humans! Support small and local!! And eat the best Mexican food in Alton at Taqueria Maya!!
