Any bakery that's been open for 70 years gets five stars from me and this one deserves it. Great little bakery!

I grew up in Illinois and attended school at AJ class of 70. We raised our family in Missouri, Cape Girardeau area. We have family in Illinois. When we visit we always stop at Davis and take home goodies to share! I’ve never had a morsel of anything from there I didn’t find to be scrumptious! I’m so grateful the Biglers are keeping the tradition alive!

I grew up on Davis Pastry cakes and pink cookies. I haven’t lived in Illinois for over 12 years now, so when I go visit, Davis Pastry is my first stop for pink cookies. They still taste good to me. My only complaint is that the last couple times I had them, they were super thin. Now, this year I knew I’d be in Illinois for my birthday so I ordered a cake for myself (haha). When I picked it up, I was completely let down. It was SOOO thin!!!! The “decorations” were atrocious. To top it off, the icing was one of the worst icings I’ve ever tasted; nothing like the real Davis Pastry icing. I ordered a half sheet and 5 people ate a small piece each. We literally threw the rest out. I was so upset especially because my granny died on my birthday this year and this was legitimately the only thing I was looking forward to.
Large selection of pastries. I always purchase their creme horns.

Great local small town bakery. Amazing pink cookies. Traditional donuts and specialty cakes.

Happened by and had a couple of things to try. Loved the pink cookies. If the ones I have had in different places, these are the best because they were really tender and crispy. Also tried a “Kiss” which was a moist white cake with marshmallow, chocolate and a drizzle of caramel. Very tasty. Would definitely stop back by if in the area again. Very reasonable prices.

If you've never had their pink cookies, you seriously need to go! Rather than a sugar cookie with icing, they use a shortbread style cookie, so it isn't too sweet...it is just right. Donuts are good too. In the summer, their hours are 630 a.m. to 330 p.m. though.

I grew up eating the cream horns. They used to be phenomenal. The new management didn't buy the recipe, obviously. I purchased several the first week of July 2022, unfortunately, on my last visit home. They left big greasy spots on the cardboard, had a greasy lard like taste and gave us horrible indigestion from indigestible fat. I'm writing this review to let you know something is terribly wrong with the shortening that you are using!!
