It's not much to look at from the outside, but inside has a friendly, hometown diner atmosphere. The prices are probably apt for the area. The servings were surprisingly large, and the food delicious
I rarely give bad reviews and I hate giving them but I value trust, transparency, and accountability.
This restaurant mischarged me $85, and what should have been a simple correction turned into a month ordeal. The first time I called, the manager answered and assured me she would take care of it. Weeks later, nothing was resolved. Instead, she began completely ghosting me—never following through with her word, never returning my calls, and never correcting the charge.
Her own staff (all of them) even admitted they don’t know when she’s available. Each time I called, I was told “after 11am,” but when I called back, she was never there. One employee even told me to come in person. I drove an hour from Mount Prospect only to find she wasn’t there and never showed up.
This is not just bad customer service—it’s dishonest and unprofessional. The lack of accountability, respect, and follow-through is appalling. Save yourself the time, money, and frustration—do not trust this establishment.
Attached is the picture of the bill. The waitress mistakenly charged $34.89 each for two drinks. This $69.78 spiraled into ~$83 because of the taxes, tip, and fee.

Let me tell you - it deserves a 5 star instead of a 3, BUT the owner ruined it by charging extra for the tartar sauce. The fish fry was enormous with plenty of fish but just one little cup of sauce. When I asked for more sauce, the waitress said it would be an additional $1.00 per cup. I almost fell over from shock. NEVER have I been charged extra for tartar sauce at any other restaurant (fish fry). Owner of Lakes - wake up and not try and ruin a great dinner.

The Lake's Pancake is a change from downtown Vegas, however, with prices going up and spending just under $100 including a 20% tip we thought maybe we should have gone to Wildberries in Libertyville. We would consider going back due to it's location.
