I’ve been a loyal customer of Lovin Oven for years and have always had great experiences, which makes this review even more disappointing to write.
I stopped in Tuesday to purchase Valentine’s Day cookies and cupcakes for a work meeting. The store appeared very short staffed. One employee seemed overwhelmed and wasn’t acknowledging customers coming in, although a very kind older woman did help me with my order.
I purchased 12 cupcakes,12 cookies, and a pie for $102.65. Unfortunately, the quality was very disappointing. The cupcakes tasted old and had an unusual flavor, and the cookies were stale. It was especially embarrassing because I had highly recommended this bakery to my coworkers.
For that price, I expected much better freshness and quality. I’m hoping this was just an off day, but this experience did not reflect the standard I’ve known Lovin Oven for in the past.

I recently had a disappointing experience with Lovin Oven Cakery in Antioch. When I called to place my order, the person on the phone was extremely rude and dismissive. It felt like I was bothering them rather than placing an order. I understand that everyone has off days, but customer service is crucial in any business, especially one that deals with special occasions like cakes. Unfortunately, this lack of courtesy left a negative impression, and I’m not sure I’ll be returning. I hope they can improve their customer interactions in the future.

For five good tasting pastries it was only $12. That's not bad at all. They have cute stands and set ups. HUGE place, wish it had some music so it wouldn't be so awkwardly quiet trying to find something to get 😅 Trey was very patient while I decided what to get. Thank you.

Bought a cake for my daughter's birthday. I was disappointed at first that there were no flowers on it but you know what? It ended up being perfect and my gosh it was so delicious!!! Your advice was correct and thank you for adding the shaved chocolate. Rave reviews by everyone at her party!!

I was able to talk to the manager and there was a miscomunication on sunday when i spoke to the gentlemen, he wasnt laughing at me. The mgr offered me half refund
First time client here. Extremely disappointed doesn't even begin to explain my situation. I ordered a basic cake 10 inch round… some writing on the top and bottom border and choc shavings on the side. When i picked the cake up i did look at it and noticed a few mistakes. However, i was in a hurry and knew what was wrong couldn't be fixed in the matter of 2 min or so. I did take the cake. When i opened the cake and took the box sides down i noticed more mistakes. The choc shavings on the side were missing patches , like bigger patches that were completely noticeable The writing looked like a ten yr did it. Please look at my pic and ull understand. Squiggly in some places, too much product in others. Didn't look clean cut Cake was slanting to one side The border was the worst. The border was uneven in size around the cake (significantly) and wasn't connected in some spots The choc buttercream on top was too thin and u could see the dark brown cake underneath I wrote a email to the manager and called the next day. When i spoke to a employee to leave a msg and told them what happened they actually laughed. Before this situation all i wanted was a apology since i did take the cake, but now, bc of the way i was treated on the phone i wanted a full refund. On Tuesday i received a call from a employee asking what happened and said she would personally talk to the manager and that the mgr would call me later that day. Some hrs pass and the same person calls me back, the manager didn't even call me back herself to offer me a half refund. Wow… just wow! Don't waste ur money or time here. Please see photos below. I paid over 110 for this cake. If went to a grocery store and paid half the price id expect this but this place IS a actual bakery that charges really high prices

They used to be really wonderful but the last few months they have gone downhill. The selection has become smaller and smaller and the quality has diminished. They also have drastically reduced their portion size while keeping prices the same.

What a shame. This bakery has a great facility and a staple of the town. The new owner has been dragging this place down. We used them for our wedding cake this year. The cake was a tiered cake. It showed up as a one layer cake with no tiers. We reached out afterwards and the owner tried to blame us. We sent photos of exactly what we wanted when we met with them to design the cake. She said that was 6 months prior to our wedding and they can’t be held responsible for remembering it that long…. Last time I checked all wedding planning is done months ahead.

Lovin’ Oven in Antioch is my birthday pick every year. We either get breakfast or lunch, food is always made to order fresh and yummy. But the vast amount of delicious desserts is what brings me back year after year. From danishes, cookies, donuts, pastries, cakes (whole and single sliced), there is something for everyone and it’s really, really good! The service is also excellent with plenty of room and ample seating.
What happened to this bakery? I have been coming here for years. The bakery goods are all stale. The staff is rude. I went to both stores and they are nasty. In Round Lake I went in there and there's no one behind the counter. I'm yelling hello. I waited 7 minutes for someone to acknowledge me. I was ready to call the police. Then 4 girls come from the back laughing and having a good time. I drive back to Norridge or Elk Grove now. Such a terrible operation!!

I went to the Round Lake loving oven and they had the same stale peanut butter cookies up there for 3 weeks in a row. I went to Antioch Someone had overcooked the chocolate chip cookies I asked them if they could correct that they did not they kept the same cookies in there for 2 week. They obviously don't care about my opinion because they did not correct.

I went in today to pick up a small yellow celebration cake. I’m used to seeing them decorated with sprinkles so I did not see any in the cooler or at the counter. Fortunately I did get helped by a nice woman and we found one in the cooler with flowers. The only complaint I have is the price. No 6” cake should cost 33.00!
