It’s definitely a “ whites only” establishment. On March 13, 2025 I visited the cafe for a second time. The first visit the service was slow however the employee’s were knowledgeable and pleasant. Today when I visited I waited 12 minutes at the pickup counter. I noticed other customers all white that came after me were being called to pick up their order. I got back in line stood behind 4 other customers and requested a refund. The so called Manager went looking around then stated that the coffee was sitting on the counter. Mind you I was standing right at the counter by the espresso machine while the barista was making the drinks….
He stated that he was refunding me and asked me to place my phone back over the POS machine. The establishment did not refund me. When I called back up to the cafe I was told that I needed to bring the physical card back up there. That my coffee as ready but I didn’t ask for it… They had an emergency so the Manager wasn’t aware that I needed the physical card…. I didn’t witness any other customer walking back to the counter to ask for their order. In fact their names were called out loudly as they were sitting at different tables all over the establishment but there I was standing right at the counter but I should have asked! I asked the establishment to allow one of my employees to come retrieve my refund because I will never ever step foot in such a place that blatantly displays racism right in front of your face and turns around and makes you the problem. Ridiculous!

Customer service needs work. Place seemed busy on a weekday morning. I was waiting in there to be seated, went up to the bar tried to ask questions about ordering and was just ignored. Ended up leaving and getting food someplace else. I really wanted to support a local spot but after looking at the menu, seeing the prices and then experiencing such terrible service I won't be coming back. Unfortunately I can't comment on the food because I wasn't able to order. Definitely seems overrated.

Words like extraordinary, efficient, and welcoming come to mind when thinking about my visit to CoCo & Blu, but if I had to sum it up in one word, it would simply be: Tara.
Tara exemplified the highest quality of service I’ve ever encountered, making me feel so welcome that CoCo & Blu has now become my go-to cafe.
I can’t recommend CoCo & Blu enough for anyone who loves fantastic decor, a relaxed yet vibrant atmosphere, delicious food and drinks, and top-notch service.

I absolutely love this place! I live in Highland Park, so I find myself visiting often, and each time is a great experience. The service is awesome, and the staff is kind. The only thing is that the music is too loud!!!

Absolutely one-of-a-kind coffee shop. So grateful to have an independent coffee place downtown. Not every town has one. Their food is really good too, and we had a great time sipping cocktails one evening we visited.

My family and I have been coming to Coco & Blu for a while, but as of late, the service has been spotty at best. On 10.11, we were stopped at the door to place a to go order when people after us were able to walk up to the counter to order. I wasn’t able to reference a menu and the rewards didn’t register. On 10.25, my teenage daughter and I walked right in to get a delicious hot chocolate each to go. Today, on 11.1, we tried to order at the counter and were told in a short tone they only do table service. No apology or explanation. I checked the website, etc. to see if the change from a week ago was communicated, but I didn’t see anything. I respect their charity drinks, etc. but will hesitate trying to go back again.
Friendliest service in town. Helps that I’m somewhat of a regular, but everyone who works there is super friendly and outgoing. They greet me when I walk in the door, provide service with a smile and make a killer cortado. They can get busy, so be prepared to wait a bit as they are a bit limited on kitchen size. You won’t be disappointed!

If you plan on going here on the weekend, DON'T!! We never received our second cold brew coffee and when asked about it, they acted like I was bothering them. I guess playing with their cell phone was more important. Then a half hour after we ordered our breakfast sandwich when we still haven't received it, again when I asked about it, it seemed I was bothering them. She said it will only be 5 minutes but it took another 10 minutes before we got it making it a total of 40 minutes to get one breakfast sandwich. Great location, food is great, coffee is wonderful, but don't go on the weekend! A weekday visit would be more satisfactory.
I have had to walk out of this amazing coffee shop multiple times. The people who run the cas register are very slow and really don't know the system. They look and search for items. People turn around as they approach door knowing it will be forever. Only one person making drinks, as the set up is not user friendly. Too bad!
