Bar Salotto 1421 N Rand Rd, Arlington Heights Pizza • $$

“Hands down one of the best restaurants I've been to. A beautiful place with a great vibe. They have a bar in the main dining area which is great if you're looking to hangout after dinner. The staff was absolutely wonderful. Everyone was so friendly and fun! Every dish we had was SPECTACULAR!!!. We ordered about 8 dishes and every single one was delicous. You can tell they use high quality products/ingredients. Lastly, the price we paid for this 10 STAR experience was too low in my opinion. I would easily pay triple the amount for this place. We'll be going back very soon. Maybe this weekend! ;) 10 STARS for Bar Salotto!!!”

Passero 3 S Evergreen Ave, Arlington Heights Italian • $$

“My fiancee had her bridal shower here and we had an amazing time. We don’t leave reviews but I think our experience warranted a review.Phil, the one coordinating our event was great. Accommodated all our requests even requests and things that weren’t part of the event packages, made a lot of day of changes we did not foresee and made sure everything was how we wanted it and alleviated a lot of the stress that goes into event planning. The team of waitresses assigned to us were also amazing. Very attentive and accommodating, took care of all our guests and their requests, weaved through all our festivities seamlessly. Their general demeanor just fit our event well. When food is made in large quantities there is usually a drop in quality but the food for our event was made with the same quality as the actual restaurant. Our guest thoroughly enjoyed the food and were very complimentary of the quality.Depending on the type of event, The venue itself requires little decoration which really makes for a great location for different kinds of events.Thank you, Passero for helping make our event a success.”

The spot ice cream shop 1403 E Palatine Rd, Arlington Heights Ice Cream Shop

“Fantastic selection and premium products made by "Chocolate Shoppe" out of Wisconsin. The flavors do rotate some, but they usually have non-dairy and sugar free options on hand. Flavors range from traditional (chocolate, vanilla, caramel) to more exotic (blueberry cheesecake, peanut butter cookie dough) and all kinds of creations ("fat Elvis" with banana, peanut butter and chocolate chips or the "exhausted parent" with bourbon, espresso and chocolate chunks)You can get scoops (cones or dish), shakes, sundaes with a large variety of toppings, or the "Scoopzilla", which is something like a dozen scoops, maybe more? We may need to host a party just to try it!The staff are friendly and they really hustle to serve customers quickly. There is no inside seating but there is a large parking lot with ample space or a block north of Palatine Road on Windsor is Lake Arlington so a perfect place to take your ice cream to enjoy.”

Their tortas are not on the list to review, but they’re low-key a “hidden gem” here. By hidden I mean they’re on the back page of the menu but if you choose to get them, you will not be disappointed. They’re loaded to the brim, packed with flavor, and the bread is crispy and everything you want out of your torta filling holder. I’ll be trying their pizza next, as the single slices were top tier. They seem like super genuine people who care about their customers and I can’t recommend stopping by for a bite enough.”

Pastry House Hippo 100 E Algonquin Rd, Arlington Heights Bakery • $

“Best pastries around!! My favs are the onion roll and the chocolate cream ones. We also always get the crustless bread. I've even gotten my daughter into loving the turtles. We also get the bun with the hot dog inside and a few others. I will say it does get crowded but it's goes relatively fast. And there are trays with tongs to grab the pastries yourself. The staff are super friendly and helpful and inside is cute with cute decor. Also get the tiramsu! Def would recommend to anybody and will always keep coming myself.”

“Garibaldi's is not my go to pizza place, but there are times when I get a hankering for their Pizza and it hit's the spot every time. The product is very consistent, the slices are huge. I remember when it was in Town and Country Mall back in the day and they had a guy tossing dough, it was pretty cool. I kinda miss that old mall. Anyway, yes, I recommend this place.”

“My family and I love coming here! Kid friendly, super clean here and we are always greeted sweetly by the owners and staff and they are so accommodating! One of our go to restaurants. We are always craving their food since there are a lot of tasty options~Few of our top favs!Honey garlic and gangjeong have been the top flavors fried chicken for us, perfect amount of spice and flavor and the chicken is nice and crunchy on the outsideTheir boneless options are good too pleasantly juicy on the inside with a nice crispy texturerose ddeok-bokki- the rice cakes perfectly cooked not too chewy not too hardperfectt texture and the flavors are so delicious. If you don’t have a high spice tolerance this can be a good alternative for you instead of regular ddeok-bokkiKimchi fried rice- delicious can’t go wrong ordering this dish here!We like to order fries and pickled radish with our chicken and it’s byob as well so you can enjoy a nice cold beer all together best combo!! “We ordered chicken noodle soup, letting the waiter know that we were going to share. They thoughtfully split our order into two bowls and even gave us a little extra. The chicken noodle soup was delicious! The noodles were cooked perfectly, not too hard and not too soft. The broth was comforting, and the chicken and ingredients tasted fresh. It really was the best chicken noodle soup I've ever tried. The service was great too. We'll definitely be back again.”

Paris was extremely helpful and went over all of the offerings that Royce had. I ended up getting the variety pack because I couldn't make up mind. Hong Kong Restaurant 1543 W Campbell St, Arlington Heights Chinese • $

“Classic Chinese place in that it is a small storefront in a local strip mall. They do not deliver. The lady in charge was very nice to deal with and our order was ready as promised. We had Kung Pao and Sesame Chicken with a couple of egg rolls. Food was quite good and in "lunch for the next two days" quantity. We will be returning. It should also be noted that dine-in facilities are at an absolute minimum. Functionally, this is a take-out joint only. And that is okay.”

Brookhaven Market 450 E Golf Rd, Arlington Heights Grocery Store • $$

“Overall I like this place. Mainly for the deli and homemade foods. Produce is usually so so. Always ask for a receipt because they don’t accept returns without it. This is the only place I know of that ask the customer if they want the receipt. Also always check the dates on the dairy. They had a great deal over the weekend and Land O Lakes light butter with canola oil. Two huge containers for five dollars. But the expiration date is in a couple weeks. also they sell some bread that does not have expiration dates which is ridiculous. I will not buy bread that does not have a date. I’ve often seen loaves of bread with mold on them.”

Jameson's Original Charhouse 1331 W Dundee Rd, Arlington Heights Steak House • $$$

“No Soup for You!!!! Had dinner at Jameson's last night (3-16-2024). My spouse does not eat dairy. A soup was offered for her meal. Both choices had dairy ingredients. When asked to substitute a salad, we were informed it would cost 3.00. So, no soup for spouse, no salad for spouse. No credit on check for no soup. My wife is not the only person who does not eat dairy. Restaurant showed no flexibiity. While food and service were OK, we will not be back to Jameson's due to their policy. We had been semi-regular patrons, but, no more. The restaurant should offer a soup selection without dairy! Sorry Jameson's you've lost a customer. Your new policy of not substituting something for what a patron can not eat has turned us away.”

“As busy as it is, this Portillo’s is a classic. Fresh food, great employees & affordable prices. I deliver for Ubereats from here too when I’m in the area, and sometimes when an order has something that seems really good I go back and order it myself. I’m always impressed. I hope this franchise stays around for a while, and based off the drive thru and foot traffic, I’m sure I’m correct on this one.”
