I wanted to try Scratchboard Kitchen for awhile now. Because of the pandemic, I was still a bit hesitant to dine indoors. Luckily, their patio was open and they do take reservations!

A friend and I made a noon reservation for Sunday. Got there on time but was told our table is not ready yet. Had to stand around and wait for about 20-25 mins. It was a gorgeous day out and there's plenty of stores surrounding the area that you can explore while you wait.

I love how they blocked off a whole street so customers can walk around the area without having to watch for traffic.

Did I mention this restaurant is women owned AND allows dogs out on the patio?! Masks are required when dining indoors. All staff are wearing their masks as well. If you can't stand wearing a mask, reserve a seat outside.

Our waitress was super friendly and gave us a quick intro about the restaurant. Everything is freshly made daily. Before going to the restaurant, I was looking forward to their Pastry Board. Homemade pastries are a must try for me! Unfortunately, it was already sold out by 12:30 PM by the time we were seated. Very disappointed but will try to come back earlier next time!

I ended up just ordering a Biscuit and their gluten free Banana Bread which comes with local honey butter and jam. This isn't your regular Pillsbury sized biscuit. It was big enough to share with another person. I absolutely loved the buttery and cheesy taste of the biscuit! Their honey butter goes really well with the biscuit! Loved it!

Banana Bread was really good too! I shy away every time i hear something is "gluten free" because it just tastes BAD. But NOT this Banana Bread!! The banana bread was very fresh, packed with banana flavor, moist and a little bit of a chewy texture to it.

My friend ordered the LAMB SHAKSHOUKA ( FETA, CILANTRO, BAKED EGG, SOURDOUGH TOAST). The lamb was cooked very tender and has a little bit of a spice to it. I wish there was more sourdough pieces to go with it because it was really delicious!

I can't wait to come back and try other items on their menu!

Loved this small cozy place! Had brunch and the drinks were great! Had their fried chicken sandwich and brisket sandwich as well as fresh squeezed orange juice and matcha vanilla latte and pumpkin latte and apple cider spritz. service was great, will come back!

Diner Guy Here, This review is long over due. My wife and I really love this place.

Personally I was served a smash burger this last Friday that now resides on my Mount Rushmore of smash burgers right next to Au Cheval and that random smash burger I made myself on a random Wednesday Night.

We were served by Bailey who was awesome and we are pretty sure she took care of us several times before.

You cannot go wrong ordering from this place. We have enjoyed:
- The Sunday Night Chicken Bucket and the Cheesy Grits that make you want to cry.
- Brunch on several occasions. French Toast!
- All the cocktails. The Spicy Margarita & Espresso Martini are both winners.

Be prepared for quality over quantity every time.

Disappointed in the food and service was ok. I ordered the avocado toast - below average while my friend ordered the fried chicken sandwich which was quite greasy and made her stomach uneasy later. We also got a donut to go which was stale.

I’ve been here so many times in the last year, and every time I go, the experience is worse than the previous one. Their food quality has changed, and the wait time for food is more than 30 minutes. I've tried many different coffees, and all of them are gross. I think the coffee they use is not good.

Matcha drink is good!

This was a lovely spot, but they became so popular, and now it looks like they can not handle it.

And as well they are pricey.

One of the most underwhelming brunches in recent memory. The fried potatoes and coffee were the best things we ordered. The breakfast sandwich and grain bowl were unremarkable. The food wasn't bad (though serving brown pineapple in the fruit salad and then sad watermelon after complaining to the wait staff was definitely questionable) as much as it simply did not live up to the hype. Will not return.

Vegetarian options: Only one vegan brunch option.

We had a great visit for brunch last weekend! Was a little nervous bc of the mixed reviews, but it won out for its upscale vibes in the suburbs. The server Francisco was fantastic and funny, and the owner was checking in with all the tables all morning. Food came out fast. We started with the mimosa flight, ordered Turkish eggs, avocado toast, and the brisket hash, and ended with tea and lattes, mine of which (rose cardamom oat milk) was the best I’ve had in a long time! If anything, the portions are a little on the small side, but overall we were very pleased! Would definitely go back again!

I ordered food and said no onion, after a few minutes, food was brought with onions, the waiter fixed it later, but that's my time and mood! I think we should have had a discount, I am not interested in the fact that every time the waiter forgets something!!

Came here a few years ago and was underwhelmed by the flavors and portions for the price, but the visible popularity of this place continues and we decided to give it a second chance. Unfortunately, this hasn't changed.

First of all, it took an hour to get our brunch food. There was a long period of time where none of the 9 or so populated tables outdoors had any food in front of them, and I'm confident we did not all show up at the same time.

Everything is beautiful but bland, and the ingredients feel low quality. Melon in the melon prosciutto dish were hard and under ripe. Egg in the breakfast sandwich was like a McDonalds egg. And the grits taste like instant grits (if there was cheddar, it was definitely stealthy).

I hate to leave a crummy review for a local place, but I honestly don't know what we waited and paid for. The coffee is excellent though, as are the potatoes. Maybe the dinner menu is where it's at.

Overall a very nice looking establishment with good staff. However the food, with regards to the brunch menu, is rather disappointing. The egg on the breakfast sandwich is a whipped egg prepared as a paddy which sits between two halves of an English muffin. I had assumed that perhaps this egg was spiced or had cheese and herbs in it but it was overall rather bland. In general, a fried egg would be more traditional and would provide a greater variety of flavors and textures.

The fruit that was served was highly variable in terms of quality. In general, I would assume that if a fruit dish is being served (e.g. the prosciutto and melon) that the melon has the proper ripeness. Instead, there were some slices of ripe melon and others which were hard and crunchy. This was not what I imagined the dish would taste like.

The coffee and other beverages were good and the wait staff were very friendly as well. The fried potatoes were also good. This restaurant needs to work on the quality of their food or alternatively lower the prices on certain dishes to reflect the apparent quality.

My husband and I have both dined in and ordered from Scratchboard to go since we moved back to the suburbs last year. We have always thought the food was pricey for what you get, but continued to return for the good service, fun vibe, and opportunity to support a local business.

We decided to introduce our friends to Scratchboard yesterday for brunch and were frankly embarrassed by the experience. Our server, Nico, seemed off since the moment he introduced himself and his demeanor and behavior only declined as the meal continued. Rather than politely and professionally confirming my beverage was made with the correct milk, Nico instead responded in an extremely condescending way. Instead of apologizing when met with my genuine shock, he doubled down and continued to respond in a completely inappropriate manner. Our entire table was speechless when he left after that interaction and our friends were shocked at the way he spoke to me. Needless to say, they will not be returning.

As I said before, we had continued to return to this restaurant in part due to the service, but unfortunately we will not be returning. I worked in the service industry for 10 years, so I absolutely understand that tensions can run high during peak times, but I would never speak to a patron the way I was spoken to. Hopefully this serves as a learning opportunity for the waitstaff to avoid similar situations moving forward.
