Fantastic venue with awesome IPAs! Yes, they have more than one great IPA! The atmosphere is awesome and very attentive, friendly service. Various seating spaces offer one the option to have a cozy space or an open inviting space. My fave spot is on the river at the window table along the Fox River.

This brewery was a much-needed escape from a hectic day. The beer was excellent, but what truly stood out was Oliver’s genuine warmth and hospitality—a rare contrast to the indifferent service you so often find elsewhere. It made the visit feel personal and memorable.
Next day edit: This level of welcome is even more remarkable as I spent two days in the area and didn't see any other black person besides me.
A quick heads-up: the brewery doesn’t have a kitchen, but you’re welcome to bring your own food or have it delivered right to your table.
Highly recommend for both the quality beer and the standout service.

I was lucky enough to take care of them tonight behind the bar atthe brewery I work at in St. Joseph, Michigan and I can't wait to sip beer on Fox River with some of the finest folks I've encountered. If the beer is even half as decent as the owners of Sturdy Shelter (which I'm fully confident it is) then you're in for an awesome treat 🥳
