Let's keep it simple. Not impressed. If I return it'll be for drinks. I don't believe I'll order food here again.
From reading Yelp reviews I thought I selected a really wonderful spot with a bistro style menu.
My first impression through the door was okay. Customers were seated at the bar and two of the high top tables were occupied. A couple was finishing their meal in the adjacent dining area that has your usual restaurant for tops with chairs. The look is a little dated, but not too shabby. Quite a lot of Marilyn Monroe mixed with "Fuggetta Bout It"
I felt a little neglected when I walked in. Nobody greeted me. No eye contact. So I just stood there for a couple minutes. Hello - Is there anybody out there (Pink Floyd). So I walk outside and admire the sunset. Walk back in. Same!
So I seat myself at the last high top. The server took orders from two tables and then gives me a menu. I didn't get to place a drink order and I already was getting the impression that this wasn't going to be a quick burger night.
Eventually place my order for a mid rare hamburger with fries. I specifically asked for a warm pink center and crispy fries.
When the burger comes to me I try a french fry. Kinda cold. Kinda old. Not good at all. The burger was overcooked. Brown grey inside. The kind of hamburger that comes as a frozen pattie in a box. The kind of dense, thick grind you have to chew your way through. Yuck!
There's an old time ice cream parlor next door. It's really good! My evening out as a solo diner was saved by dessert.

If you are looking for great food and a friendly atmosphere like you used to find in little neighborhood joints throughout Chicago, Mike and his staff are the real deal. You'll feel like you just walked a couple blocks from Comiskey for a beer and some pasta, Italian Beef or a pepper and egg sandwich. Sophia's has a full bar and a great selection of mixed drinks.
Note that the slot machines are gone. It's all about the food and friendly staff.

Mike and staff treated our family like his family. The food was delicious, above and beyond ordinary bar food. Homemade Italian beef and pasta sauce were incredible. This was a welcoming place for all ages. When I get back to Beecher, I'll definitely stop here again.

Mike the owner took great care of our family group. They went out of their way to accommodate us.
The homemade Italian beef and homemade pasta sauce and ravioli were spectacular. The light batter on the walleye was also wonderful. The PB & J burger was original and delicious.
The staff was attentive to our needs and we always had what we needed.
The atmosphere was fun and welcoming.
We will definitely recommend Sophia’s as a place worth the stop. I hope to be back and try something new next time.

A cute little diner with delicious food and friendly staff. The building needs a minor work, like a fresh coat of paint and fixing of a few small things. Overall, while one might call it a “hole in the wall” kinda place, I’m glad we stopped by on our travels & will consider stopping again.

My husband was doing construction in front of this cafe. He went in to grab a bite to eat and was told there was no food and to “focus on fixing the street” and not to come in because his “boots were dirty”. Rude and racist.
Excellent restaurant with great food. Service is excellent. Recommend to anyone for a sandwich or a full dinner meal.
Parking: Parking spots in front of restaurant and across street.
