This is a GREAT place to eat. Food is very good, waitresses/waiters are awesome and the owner is the best. We LOVE this place!

Was excited to try this place given recent reviews and always like a local diner/cafe/restaurant…unfortunately, It did not live up to expectations. Our waitress forgot one of our plates and then brought it out cold. The experience was decent at best. Mediocre service, mediocre food. Price was fine. Won’t be going back!

Main Street Cafe has had a troubled past but thanks to Golden Oak driving Elaine way, it is a dramatically different place. The food has always been good and reasonably priced with decent serving size, but since Elaine has been working there the service is excellent and better the attitude of the wait staff is exceptional. It is a pleasure going there now.

I am giving a 3 star today bc we have always had a good experience in the past but today was so bad. Room temp food, burnt toast when biscuit was ordered, wrong cheese in omlette, and hasbrowns not fully cooked. Prob won't come back anymore.

Super let down with the food today. Ordered a biscuit and got burnt toast, eggs room temp, wrong cheese in omelet, hashbrowns just warmed but not fully cooked, plus it took forever to get our terrible food. Kitchen staff needs replaced fast. Won't be coming back.

First time ever eating here. Prices were great but food was ALL over cooked aside from the scrambled egg for my toddler. So first we had to stand for 5 minutes with no one acknowledging us before we asked another customer if we were supposed to seat ourselves. At first waitress was cold and unfriendly but midway through she finally warmed up. Bacon was so crunchy and when dropped on table shattered into pieces. Asked for over medium eggs and they were completely cooked through. No runny yolk whatsoever. American potatoes were shriveled and almost black in color. Unfortunately we only had 30 mins to eat after waiting 25 mins for our food so we could not remake.

Cute little place, but I don't recommend going at least for breakfast. Hashbrowns were almost raw and none of our food had any seasoning. One meal came with toast and they put something on it that looked likely to be liquid butter, which wasn't realized until after buttering the side that was facing up on the plate. The other meal was the meat lovers burrito, but it was more like an omelet in a tortilla and was more egg than anything else. They were pretty busy, so not sure if they were just overwhelmed or if this is all normal as it was our first time there. Our waitress was friendly, but forgot part of our order and kept complaining about the toaster not working right. After reminding her about what was forgotten, the rest of the food was cold as it was lukewarm at best when it finally came out. We ate what we could, paid and left. We didn't want to wait even longer to try to get anything corrected.

This was the quintessential diner experience. I went on a whim with my granddaughter son and husband we were on a short trip to St. Louis to see a Blues game and came over the river to show my granddaughter where her dad grew up (we were stationed at Scott) and we wanted a stop for lunch before we headed to the airport. This diner got rave reviews. It was a little out of the way but so worth the drive. Their food is excellent diner fare. Don’t go for chic-y food this is homemade stick to your ribs fare well worth the fork work and well worth the price. Skillets filled with deliciousness- I had the meat lovers skillet and it was just what it sounds like- a breakfast meat revelation. The chicken tenders went down smooth and the meat lovers omelet my son had was more praise worthy than anything you might get at IHOP or another chain- far surpassing the chain fare…yep…by a country mile! We ended the meal with fried raspberry cheese cake…heaven!!
