the food was good i ordered a baxter salad with vinagarette and my wife ordered a green salad with ranch and got a baxter salad with vinagarette(same as me). i ate my salad as she watched then she ate her salad while i watched, no big deal . We both ordered NY strip. The steaks came, i got a NY strip and she got a filet, she sent it back for the NY strip that she order. She watched me eat my steak ( very slowly). Her steak came as i was finishing my steak so i then watched her eat her steak . As i stated the food was very good but this was not the pleasant dining experience we were hoping for. The waiter was friendly, attentive and apologetic. He bought us a couple of beers so i guess all was well
We went to Baxter's for our anniversary and were pleasantly surprised for find a card congratulating us on our table. Very nice! We also received a complimentary dessert for our celebration. The food and service as always was top notch. This is one of favorite go-to places for a nice dinner! Thanks Baxter's for helping us have a great evening!
The food and ambience were truly exceptional—thoughtfully crafted dishes in a beautifully designed space. However, the overall experience was dampened by the service. Despite multiple polite requests, we weren't offered bread until after placing our order, which felt unnecessarily rigid. Our server also struggled to answer basic menu questions, leaving us a bit uncertain. I was hoping for a seamless celebration for my birthday, but unfortunately, the service left a lasting impression for the wrong reasons.
We arrived very early in the evening about 5:00 p.m. on a Saturday, a little ahead of our reservation and chose to sit at the bar. I only glanced in the dining room but it looked very nice and the bar was wonderful. The cocktail menu is fabulous. The service was great. Our drinks were fantastic and we just had small shareable plates, steak nachos and steak sliders. Both great!! This place had ample service staff, all seemed well trained, professional and polite. This place definitely made our list of locations to return to, highly recommend.
We were passing through town and wanted to stop for a nice dinner. We couldn't have been happier than to stumble onto Baxter's. We were greeted warmly by the hostess and seated right away. Eric, our waiter, was fantastic! He took the time to explain the menu, answered our questions, and made great recommendations. We both had the prime rib, cooked to perfection. My dining partner ordered a “moist end” cut and it was perfect. The only issue was that the food runners did not clear the salad plates before delivering the main course. A minor issue easily fixed. Thanks to Eric we had a wonderful meal and will definitely dine here again next time we're in town. If you go, ask to be seated at Eric's table for a memorable experience.
Despite the reservation, it took a while for them to find us a table. A server was passing by our table and spilled water on my pants. The lines were long, and the food was mostly breakfast food. All tasted good, but not really worth the price.
Went for Mother's Day brunch. The food was great. A good variety of fresh fruit, meats and breakfast items.
Good did not have much flavor. One order came out much later than the others ( I think it was forgotten). Food was meh for the price!
Baxter's was a great find. We were looking for a place to celebrate graduation and couldn't have been happier that we chose Baxters. Food and service were both great. Would definitely go back.
Excellent restaurant and my favorite in Bloomington, Il. The food is very delicious, desserts are decadent, and they have a wonderful drink list (the Sweet Caroline martini is my favorite). We've tried about every type of entree from shrimp tacos to the prime rib. Delicious every time. The service is amazing too! We are always greeted by friendly hosts and the wait staff is readily available and attentive to our needs.

We are from out of town, chose Baxter's by searching online. We were pleasantly surprised that it was so good. The meal was great, steak was tender and tasty. Service was top notch. If ever back in the area I would definitely revisit.
A decent amount of gluten-free options was a plus for my wife. The menu was a little confusing. When we got our check, almost everything was an uncharge. That's fine, but I prefer to know beforehand. Service was good. We'll be back just for the gluten-free menu. I had the prime rib with twice baked potato and salad. My wife had a GF rice dish with asparagus tips & shrimp. It was really asparagus stems (not tips). I got the butter gooey cake and she got the GF chocolate truffle.
Steak nachos and Thai shrimp are always delicious for starters. All of our salads and meals were fresh and tasty (flatbreads, steak tacos, smothered chicken, steak kabobs). Service was really good. One of the servers was training and he did an excellent job. Two gooey butter cakes served our table of 5 just fine and were delicious, as always.
Food was very good. Service was excellent. The only problem was had was the water. It tasted awful. When we spoke to the server about it, he acknowledged that they were aware of the problem and that it was a city issue. He then offered us bottled water. It would have been better if that had simply been provided from the start rather than waiting until we complained.
Temperature in restaurant was very cool, and we had to keep our jackets on for most of the meal. The tap water quality was low. When we mentioned to the waiter, he was aware and stated that they had been having issues with the water all evening (but they served it to us anyway). We ordered a sparkling water for the table. The shrimp appetizer and salad were tasty. Steak was under cooked, sent back, and then arrived burnt 🔥.
