This store has been around for a very long time, and is a staple to the area. I have read in some reviews that there are unsavory types shopping there, well welcome to the real world. If you go to the Super stores those same people are there they just get lost in the size of the store, common you have never been to Walmart...right. This Kroger does have a few issues because of it's size but as far as a local grocery there is no better.

I always visit in the evening and there always seems to be the perfect amount of staff present to move everyone through quickly. Everyone seems nice and knowledgeable, and the prices are hard to beat.

If I am forced to, I always try to shop here early in the morning. The store is difficult to navigate when it's busy. The inside design of the store was poorly done. It's one of those places when someone is slow or stops then you have trouble getting by them. There's only one entrance to the store. The vestibule is cramped with carts. The store customer base range from shady characters to college students. It's an odd mix. Not a fan of the parking lot. The condition is a lot better than the College location though. The one things that comes to mind about this Kroger is the weird employee who stares a hole through me. He's a bald, short, portly man. Whether I'm walking past his register or exiting the store, he'll stare me down when I'm in there. It's a little creepy.

I do most of my shopping here, simply because it is the closest grocery store to my home. My friends and I call it "Ghetto-Krogs," and for good reason! There are some pretty shady characters that hang around the store, loiter in the parking lot, etc. Prices are decent, but I do wish I could shop somewhere a bit nicer and not have to drive far.

The Squirrel Girl of grocers: Convenient; but not terribly helpful. Absolutely awful. Under stocked, limited selection, and often frequented by the dregs of society, this is not the Kroger you're used to. Its only benefit if its convenient location next to Illinois Wesleyan University and some student housing. For a town with an overabundance of grocery stores the only value to this Kroger is its relatively central location. It's often understocked, which just compounds the problem of its already-limited inventory. The unsavory characters shopping there (It's rare to see a grocery store with security guards in the Heartland.) make it an awkward and often unpleasant shopping experience. If you're in the central part of the BloNo area, it's perhaps the most convenient for a quick errand; but if you have an extra 10 minutes it's almost always worth it to shop elsewhere.

This Kroger is a staple for IWU students year round. While it's selection might be trimmed back some, the prices are fantastic.

When my friends come to visit from Chicago and they shop here, they always comment about how much cheaper Bloomington is than Chicago. This may be true, I think, but Kroger is certainly cheaper than most grocery stores even in Bloomington. If you're searching for fresh produce, I would recommend you look elsewhere (Fresh Market). But if you're simply picking up some items (cereal, pasta, eggs, etc.) this is a great place to save a little dough. Keep your head on a swivel when you are in the People's Kroger. You're sure to see some interesting characters.
