BUB cafe is a diamond in the rough. I have been searching for a cafe in the suburbs with good food and drinks, and this place fits the bill.
If it were open late, I would probably come way more often. Since they are closed Monday and Tuesday, and they close at 3pm Wednesday, Thursday, & Sunday, I’ll likely only make it in on a Friday or Saturday when they are open till 6pm.
What I had:
Soup of the day: Spicy chicken and hominy
5/5 this was so flavorful!
Drink: Cali Sunrise - I asked for it to be made hot (usually it’s cold)
5/5 this tasted like a nonalcoholic mulled wine/hot toddy. It is perfect for winter. The gentleman who made it said he tested it and might make it a winter drink menu item.
My partner had the burger of the day:
Burger patty made with lean beef and ground bacon, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, mustard, and pumpkin aoli (but be asked for it without the aoli). This came with chips.
4+/5 he loved this. He said it’s the perfect size portion.
To go:
Chocolate chip cookie
4+/5 I heated this up in the over for 5 minutes and it came out perfectly warm and gooey. I highly recommend you try this
They have ice cream, but it defrosted accidentally over night, so we will try that another time.
We came in a rainy Saturday around 15:30 and there was a spot right out front. There was also live music, which in my opinion was a nice touch, but perhaps a bit too loud. My partner couldn’t hear anything the guy behind the counter said.
They sell local artisan jewelry.
The decor is super cute. They had the windows dressed for Dia De Los Muertos and Halloween.
Wonderful place. Will be back!

BUB Cafe is such an asset to Blue Island and south Chicago - I love the wide variety of beverages, especially their CBD drinks and nice variety of canned teas, hop water & tonics.
The food is always fresh and delicious - I recently had the half rack of ribs and wished I went for the full rack. They were delicious, moist & tender with juuuuuust a little bit of fight left in them (the way I like 'em) and a tangy sauce that had me licking my fingers.
The decor & vibes are great, very welcoming and funky. Staff are tremendously friendly, helpful & attentive... I will continue to return!

Such an awesome place! A large amount of talent in a welcoming quaint space. The chefs really pour their love of the art and talents into everything they make. They even had homemade marshmallows to add to hot chocolate. Little pillows of perfection. Also, loved the gluten free bread! Probably the best I've had and it's homemade. Very family friendly and welcoming to all. Can't wait to see what the future holds for them.
Dietary restrictions: gluten and diary free options, very allergy aware and friendly

Great coffee, great food. The owner is so nice and accommodating - we had a few restrictions and he had great suggestions! Best French onion soup I’ve ever had!

Quite possibly the best Arnold Palmer in Cook County, perhaps Illinois. I also love that it's listed as an Arnold Palmer on the menu. I didn't get a chance to eat anything, but I will be back! I literally sat back and soaked in the great vibes of this beautifully transformed space (kudos to the person that painted the wall mural). Adaptive reuse, which is the process of repurposing old buildings for new uses, is what makes Cook County an incredibly unique place... B*U*B Café is a perfect example of adaptive reuse. They will get my business every time I'm in Blue Island.

I've been here three times and will continue to return. Great local coffee shop in Blue Island with a good atmosphere. I really like their bagel with the pimento spread it's delicious 😋 I got a cappuccino with light mocha, and it was good as well. I just think I need something stronger. I will try another coffee drink with an extra shot of espresso or add it to the cappuccino. Totally recommend trying this place out.👌

Came from Northside of Chicago to try but odd they were closed at 11:30am without notice. Google times online were not updated and hours on the door stayed open. There were a few of us trying to get in at this time. Might try again another day.
The Avocado toast was amazing.

So ofcourse I didn't know what to expect when I came in. I was surprised. The breakfast omelette I had was delicious along with the veggie sides. The Thai tea latte was smooth and you have choice of what type milk to add to it. The environment itself tells me to come back again. The art on the walls kept my attention and they have couches that you can lounge on and books to read if you don't have one. It was pretty decent. And the CBD beverage is definitely something I want to have again. It got me chillin'. Did I forget to say they also have pastries and ice cream?? Def would recommend. All in all. I loved the experience and will def be back here again.

Went there for lunch today.
I got the Green-Green, which was very tasty! It came with a side of potato chips which I added to the sandwich for an extra crunch!
I ordered the hash browns as well, which were well cooked and crispy!
My friend ordered the bacon, which was crispy and abundant! She had the avocado toast, which had a unique flare and tasted very good!
We both got the Cali sunrise, which was a little sweet, but perfect once the ice melted.
I would go back!
Parking: Lots of street parking in front of the restaurant and around The corner.
Kid-friendliness: They were very kid friendly with a bookshelf with lots of kid friendly books as well as a challenge for kids to read!
