Food is okay.. I don’t like the fact you ask for Birria & They give you Barbacoa. Both meats are prepared differently so it makes the Food taste different! If you don’t have Birria Just say that.

Food is amazing. Always have great music and the owner is a delight. We always get the tacos, Al pastor, asada, chicken you really can’t go wrong. Tortas are really good and filling. Service is fast and very polite.
I would give Tomatillo in Buffalo Grove a mixed review. On the positive side, the staff was friendly and accommodating, which always enhances the dining experience. The El Pastor and Elote were also quite tasty, indicating that the kitchen can indeed produce quality dishes. However, the tacos, particularly the steak, were a letdown. The steak was either overcooked or of low quality, which was disappointing. Tacos are a staple of any Mexican restaurant, and it's crucial that they are done well.Additionally, the atmosphere was not as comfortable as it could have been. The restaurant was filled with smoke and the heat was also barely turned on, making the environment less cozy and inviting than it should be.

I would give it a 3.5 if I could. This place is like cilantro but not as high of quality. The burritos were pretty small and not the best tortilla quality. Overall very average.
The people here are very nice and the food came out quick, but the fajitas weren't good at all. It looks like they use the ends of the peppers (maybe a frozen mix) and the chicken was very dry. It didn't taste that fresh or have good flavor. I've had their tacos before and they're okayish. I can't see myself going back, but I do hope they make some changes for the better because the people who work here give good service and are very welcoming.

Our local taco place hasn't been good lately so we decided to try somewhere new. I ordered from GrubHub so I can't comment on the service and the ambiance. We got a veggie burrito bowl and a three taco dinner with steak, carnitas, barbacoa. I thought the steak was flavorless, but the barbacoa and carnitas were good. I loved the pickled carrots. I also enjoyed the salsas and chips. I didn't care for the rice but I really liked the flavor and heat in the beans. Overall, this place was decent and had some nice touches.

Best authentic mexican food around, hands down. This place is 30 minutes from us and we have a mexican restaurant in our neighborhood that's only a 2 minute drive away, and we still choose Tomatillo every time. Their chorizo tacos are my favorite and their guacamole is so fresh and delicious. They also do horchata right -- nothing watered down here! And everything is so reasonably priced. The staff are all so incredibly friendly, patient, and kind too. I can't wait until we have some time on a nice day to sit outside and enjoy their margaritas (also highly recommend!).

Picked up take out from here for $48 and they couldn’t even bother to give me fresh steak meat. On top of that they all barely had meat. All of my tacos dry except the chicken ones because they were braised. The tortillas weren’t even fully cooked. I also didn’t even receive the correct toppings and what I did receive was the tiniest sprinkle, doesn’t cost a thing yet everything was skimped on. So unhappy with the quality of the food and I’ve been here before just never takeout. I won’t be coming back here after the food I received. The one saving grace was the horchata and the salsa, that’s it.
Great spot for tacos and guac, highly recommend ?
