The other reviews are right, this place is great. The host was really excited to tell us about all the different dishes, which is always a good sign. We got the lamb kabsah, falafel entree, baba ghanoush with oven bread and chai karak. The lamb was incredible, the meat was tender and the rice was perfectly seasoned. The oven baked bread was gigantic and fragrant and chewy. The chai was warm and full of spices. The falafel was fresh and crunchy. We live in Chicago but this restaurant...
Aban Kitchen is a hidden gem in southern Illinois. This restaurant has such amazing food that you can tell they put time and love into the dishes. I have tried their platters with friends, but my go-to is the kabobs. They’re well flavored and cooked perfectly.
Their baba ganoush is also the best version I have ever had. It’s well blended and served with a Smokey tahin on top. It is worth upgrading to their clay oven bread for this.

I just want to start out with saying that this is almost an entirely gluten free menu. The only thing not gluten free is the pita and one other thing. I normally don't like falafel but they're Falafel was actually really good and not too please say. Because they are only frying Falafel and french fry you can actually have the fried food here which is awesome. They went above and beyond to accommodate all of my allergies. The land was tender and the rice was so flavorful....
