Longbranch is one of the best restaurants in the area for fresh vegetarian food, coffee, service, and ambiance. I have been a patron here for years and they never miss. Elaine and all of the staff are incredibly kind and attentive. The food is fresh, delicious, and fairly priced. I’m surprised that many think the portions are small because I almost always leave with a to-go box. For non-vegetarian diners, I can assure you that you will find something on the menu that you like. Their food is so good.The staff also make people feel like they are a part of the community even if they are only passing through. Longbranch is a Carbondale gem for so many reasons and they’re one of the first places I recommend when people are visiting.Vegetarian options: Wide range of options from avocado toast to falafels.Dietary restrictions: Easy to find vegan vegetarian or gluten free options.Parking: Weekend parking is free. During the week it is incredibly affordable.Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly. Elaine loves kids and will always pull out special toys for them to play with or just talk to them.

The lemon olive oil cake I ordered for my daughter’s birthday was outstanding and so delicious! Love all the bakery goods at Longbranch, but their cakes surpass all others in the area.
The BEST in Carbondale! Outstanding coffee and baked goods...plus SUPER waitstaff. I had coffee of the day and the almond cream scone. AWESOME.PS: I stayed for LUNCH and was glad I did. I had a very savory creamy tomato basil soup and a vegetarian stir fry with tofu. DELICIOUS!
