Went to eat there last night. Got there before 7, as soon as we opened the door we were told, "we are closed . Very rude, snooty attitude.As for being told to look at the sign on the door, stating you close at 7, why not invest in a white board or put your piece of construction paper at or close to eye level, not close to the bottom of the door. My main issue was how rude this lady was

Pretty basic bar food. It is more of a restaurant than a bar, lots of seating including larger tables and six or so booths. We were there Saturday at noon snd there was one couple in when we entered and one when we left so not overly busy. Like I said menu is basic bar food. Wife got chicken strips snd fries which were all right. I had bbq sand which and it was overly microwaved do the meat was a little hard. I think the chili was made there and seemed fresher. It was pretty good.

Just had lunch here for the first time and everything was excellent! The cheeseburger and fries were really good and the service was also excellent. We'll definitely be back next time we're in the area. If you're on the Southern Illinois Coffee Trail, this restaurant is just down the street from the Oh So Sweet Bakery & Cafe in Carlyle. It seems to be a cash/check only restaurant which didn't bother us as we know credit card fees for small businesses are going up.

We visited Carlyle for work and were told to go here and try the Paulsenburger. It did not disappoint! Absolutely delicious (ps you’ll need a fork)! The owners (server & cook) are wonderful, and the place is neat and clean with charming decor. I definitely recommend trying this place if you’re in the area.
Ordered palsey burger and sweet potatoes fries. Both were fabulous. Carrot cake is awesome too, if there’s any available.

Just a FYI to go to an ATM before going to Schleicher's. They have a sign outside the door that they do not accept credit cards. We only had $20 cash and we knew lunch and tea would be over that. Unfortunately we had to leave. But we will try again someday when we have more cash.
