“Hubby & I live 5 mins. From this bakery...always said I wanted to check it out, but waited almost a year to go in; I am kicking myself now! This place is AMAZING!! Even my hubby (who doesn't care for sweets) loves it! In fact, we've gone 3 times this week! The baked goods are phenomenal & staff is super nice! Also, prices are very reasonable. Don't be like me & wait..lol it is worth every penny!”

“Just had lunch here for the first time and everything was excellent! The cheeseburger and fries were really good and the service was also excellent. We'll definitely be back next time we're in the area. If you're on the Southern Illinois Coffee Trail, this restaurant is just down the street from the Oh So Sweet Bakery & Cafe in Carlyle. It seems to be a cash/check only restaurant which didn't bother us as we know credit card fees for small businesses are going up.”

“As a vegetarian, I was pleasantly surprised to see they had a cucumber, avocado sandwich with goat cheese plus a side pasta salad! It was so refreshing and delicious! I’ve also had their vegetarian pizza with pineapple it was just as yummy!Unfortunately, I heard recently the kitchen closed. Still a great atmosphere to gather and have some drinks!Vegetarian options: Salad, some soups, some appetizers, vegetarian pizza”

“Amazing food, prices, service and perfect serving sizes just enough to fill you up and make you happy. The highest price on the menu is $5.50!! The interior makes me feel like I'm back in the 80's. Now they just need to bring back the gaming machines and be open more. Also food was out in in an extremely reasonable amount of time for there only being one worker. “Food was very tasty. I got the hay stack and a side order of corned beef hash that I mixed in with it. It was delicious. The price for my order was a bit higher than I expected. I ordered 10 chocolate chip pancakes, an Old 50 omelet, an Old 50 hay stack and a side order of corned beef hash. My bill was right at $99 for everything. All together the food was good and I'm sure I'll be back.”

“It's a small town corner bar. The food we had was great. Greasy cheeseburger as it should be. Philly steak same and good flavor. Daughter loved her quesadilla. Oh ya the bottles of beer where just below freezing. It's a bar. If your the hoity toity type stat away if your normal I can recomend this place. The front door looks like an entrance to an appartment”

“The service is always top notch, we come to the area to snow goose hunt with a group of 10. Three years in a row we've had an awesome waitress that is on it!!! The food is good, and we always enjoy our visit. The restaurant is clean, the decor is like a lodge with animal mounts on the wall, large bar, nice wine area. Overall nice little spot for 10 hunters to eat, drink and be a little loud.”

“The chips were good but when my cousin asked for a steak they said "taco" other than that the ambiance was relatively good and the seating comfortable and it was really clean. Other than that the service was also very good.”

“Everything was great. At 1st they were going to charge me 80 cents for just a drizzle of chocolate sauce on my strawberry sundae. I had them take it off. I couldn't see paying for a drizzle. When they brought my sundae, they did in fact drizzle some chocolate on top. That was very nice!! Thank you so much for that. We will be back. The ranch dressing was some of the best and the fries were hot and delicious!”

“This Walmart is literally the most conventional Walmart ive ever been to, its every well suited for a town and for the nearby Carlyle lake which is perfect, everyone there is nice to you and so are the people that shop there, I always stop there before I go fishing for the day”

“Always good food. Sometimes the help is a bit slow about cleaning off the tables. This is sad. The price is getting to be too exspensive to bring the grandkids and they love the place.”

“I've been twice through drive thru, both times the food quality was very good. The service was also great, I swear it looked like only one lady was working the entire building, but she still got us our food quickly and did our large order perfectly no mistakes (even gave ketchup without us asking, thanks)”

“First, my name is Steven Hoffman, no relation..I live mostly in Orange County California, but all of my family is from Central City, Illinois and the surrounding area. I come home to CC maybe 4 times a year and we always, always eat at the Hoffman House and have for decades. Never had a bad meal, people are friendly, and we always have a good experience eating there...I love the fried chicken, and of course all you can eat catfish...my dad, Bob Hoffman loved this , as did his good friend Harold Monken, every time I go there I think about both of them. “Owner/ bartender was working behind the bar. Good bar right in the middle of town. Across the street from a church and the school which made me chuckle.I believe it was built in 1886 in great shape for being that old . They have added on to the back and have darts and a couple other games available”
