It's a great place to stop for beer and a burger. They have wonderful service. Everyone is friendly. The cheese burger is great! I was not a big fan of the etouffee - it wasn't bad, but it didn't have a lot spice. Gator bites were good as was the fried shrimp. We stop here and meet friends pretty much anytime we pass through Illinois.

We just left Swamp Tales in Carlisle after a really disappointing experience. It wasn’t even busy (only about three tables), but service was very slow—we waited a long time just for drinks. When we asked questions about the menu (like portion sizes, substitutions, or whether items could be made a certain way), our server had to leave every single time to go get an answer. Someone in our group ordered crawfish (which they’re known for Cajun style foods), and she didn’t even know if they had any in stock. My husband ordered a New York strip, but a ribeye was brought out instead. On top of that, when she set it down, she told us they were out of baked potatoes, the food was ice cold and undercooked, and one of our beers wasn’t even opened. I don’t know if the server was new or what, but the whole thing was frustrating enough that we left to eat somewhere else.

This was the second time trying to give them a fair shot after the bar rescue episode aired.
HORRIBLE! I thought the first visit was bad enough with cold food, staff that clearly isn't trained to even know what is on the basic menu and chewy alligator bites.
Tonight was so bad we walked out. My friend ordered a beer that he had to open himself (I guess the bartender was too busy?) the waitress had to check on the spice level of the special pastalaya. Then had to come back and check if they even had crawfish for the etoufee. I asked to get my plate without peppers and was told yes. Then about 10 minutes late she comes back to the table to tell me they are already mixed in. I said that's fine. When the food finally came out both my girlfriend's and my etoufee were literally ice cold... They couldn't even microwave the etoufee past ice cold.
Don't waste your time or money here they need to be shut down. There was a reason on a Saturday night there was only 3 other tables occupied... Red flag.

I've tried going here twice now, and on my second attempt I ended up just leaving. Both times, but more so on the second visit the service and food have been questionable. Servers cant answer simple questions about the size of dishes, or seemingly know whats on the menu/available. Our food came out ice cold. Like physically to the touch cold.
Please, save yourself the frustration and potential gastrointestinal issues and go somewhere else.

Amazing service and spectacular food! Acoustics were louder than I'd expected since there were only a couple of larger tables and my husband and I there. But will Definitely go back and try something else off their menu.

Well i dident have the swamp tails experance. See while everyone unlnowling to me that nihjt before i got their was having an awsome time. You can tell thies are seasioned party hoasts. They can handle the loud bilegerant drunk better than some stranger that knocks at door simpley needed like $10 for food or just some pantry items tbh. So i seen the ungodly amount of trash ppl leave not on disrespect. Just simply that good of time. Teash cans were full. So they stArted to do right thing as most who drink in party sences. Not dive bar patrons this is young resoonsable fun. U can tell cuz theirs vehicals their in am. Kids will listen to peers as long as their taught befor the alchoaol gets them for a night. I picked all yrash up outside that i know yalll would have dun but o figured better to do than look at whT needs dun and then finaly ask if i can help. I just helped hoping when they got their like they did i could show what i did and if anythng just get a ty. They ingored me. No way someone at ur prize cow barn and u dont know. U would call cops if u wanted them their and u dident. Well because how u go about telling them u want me to leave but cant tell me because? Truly makes no sence. So if yall read this crazy post. Good Place to eat..service was a bit slow, but it was very busy...seemed like a bit overwhelmed with the size of the crowd..trying to set up for outside band and bar area..liked the gumbo, and the chicken wings,catfish nuggets, and spicy hushpuppies were good...needs more beer choices in the bar..

Not many tables eating and it took a long time to get our order in. Food was less than mediocre. Had to take out cups to the bar to get refills and the bartender made us stand there for 5+ min before she would even ask what we needed and there were o Lu 3 other customers sitting there. There was food added to my bill that was not ordered and the waitress or bartender would not take it off the bill. It was so hot inside we were all sweating “inside” while trying to eat. I have wanted to try this place for a long time and my daughter asked to go there for her birthday. We were all excited to go and believe me we will not be back!!
