If you are traveling through smaller towns in IL, you will see this chain of family restaurants. They are very popular with locals and travelers alike. This one had private booths and individual tables, as well as a long center table where people can easily mix and meet new people. It was absolutely slammed with customers when we were there. The staff was very friendly and conversational. And the food was good.

Would have loved to have been able to rate my experience here; but aside from having the hostess roll her eyes at me, when I walked in, and being told to sit at any clean table. I had no further interactions here. Sat there for 20 minutes waiting to get a menu. Two tables that walked in 5 and 7 minutes after me, got served. I tried to stop a waitress to ask for a menu and she walked right passed me. Apparently they are so well off, they don't need your money. My recommendation? Drive 20 miles down the road and eat at Woody's in LeRoy. They greeted me with a smile and served me immediately.Kid-friendliness: Not people friendly, can't imagine they'd like kids any betterWheelchair accessibility: None

I have eaten here a handful of times and I’ve had maybe one or two pleasant experiences but for the most part it’s been not good at all one of the waitresses there is pretty rude and then I just went there today to place a to go order they were not busy at all I tried calling beforehand nobody answered the phone and then when I did go in, and I stood at the front counter while the waiting staff and owner looked at me. Finally, the owner came over, acted like he was inconvenienced by me wanting to place a to go order was very rude, so I turned around and walked out, the place is disgusting on the inside smells like stale bleach water would not recommend whatsoever

The Hen House is a really good Restaurant to go eat at in Mahomet. The service is really good, the is really good, and the atmosphere is really nice you feel like you are at home the stuff is really nice I would recommend it if you are coming through or visit someone.

When you don't eat fresh eggs all the time you can really taste the difference! The service was fast and friendly and price was fair. A great quick stop. Thanks

WARNING.... Go on down the road if you want to eat. Got the hot beef sandwich. My mashed potatoes where crusty, they was like potatoes left from 3 days ago. Thry looked like thet left them out and they hardend. Then they warmed in microwave and left the crust stuff on them. Asked for new ones and got served the same nasty potatoes. Worst food that I have eaten, service was any better. Had to wait to ask the bus boy to get new potatoes. Don't waist your money like we did.Wheelchair accessibility: Not even walked accessibility. Waitress asked table in middle to push table so she could get through.

They daily specials, nice friendly staff, pies great, food was hot and fairly fast to get to the table. It wasn't super busy there were maybe a dozen. People there. Here is an update my husband and I stopped today for lunch we got there about 1:15 we ordered I got the bacon cheese burger and onion rings they were outstanding, he got the Philly steak and cheese with French fries he said very good had a lot of flavor. The owner came out to let everyone know it was 1:35 as they close at 2. Great serves, friendly staff and awesome food definitely going back

We arrived 10 minutes before closing time, and the staff was good enough to still serve us. Great food, pleasant staff, and welcoming atmosphere. My dad used to stop here years ago, and I hadn't been there and wanted to stop in.I recommend this place if you haven't tried it. It's a special little place.

We had visited The Hen House once before , a year or so ago. My chicken was decent as was the salad and service. The salad and service were good this time but there weren't many people in the restaurant, almost empty, and the food definitely lacked any seasoned taste whatsoever. It's a long drive for us...won't be returning.
