The food is a 10 out of 10 if you can handle spice ask for extra spicy but the food is very flavorful and delicious the service is amazing and the atmosphere itself is so calming and relaxing I felt very welcome and respected as well definitely give it a try!

My husband and I have been looking for a new Indian restaurant since ambar has closed and we’ve really not liked the other places we’ve tried.
This place was clean on the inside and staff were friendly and the food is absolutely delicious! We’ll definitely be getting our food from here always!

Kohinoor Indian Restaurant certainly reaches a person's heart through the best delicacies of food served, along with a great ambience and customer service.
Absolutely loved the experience! The food was is in flavor, perfectly spiced, and tasted incredibly authentic. From the warm hospitality to the cozy ambiance, everything was on point. Definitely a place I’d keep coming back to for great Indian food! The restaurant looks and ambience is also very beautiful and the staffs are also very soft spoken.

The best people, the best food. Family owned, the owners are so humble despite the unmatched quality, price and portions. For context, I drive all the way from CHICAGO to eat here almost once a year. I rave about it to my friends and family when they ask about the best Indo-South Asian food in Illinois. That speak for itself, I have no skin in the game. Best restaurant ever! Gas is 5 bucks a gallon but you'll still catch me on my yearly pilgrimage to Champaign to visit Kohinoor haha! I hope everyone supports this incredible small business - they deserve it.

Disgraceful Experience — Save Yourself the Trouble

We made a reservation for 15 people over two months in advance and showed up expecting a well-prepared, welcoming dining experience. What we got was the complete opposite.

Upon arrival, our table was not ready. After waiting, we were eventually shown to what can only be described as a makeshift seating arrangement — haphazardly put together and clearly not set up with any thought for the comfort of a large group. It was embarrassing and frankly disrespectful to guests who had planned this far ahead.

When we raised our concerns with the manager, rather than apologizing or trying to make things right, he was outright rude. To top it off, he told us he would “rather cancel our reservation” and suggested we simply leave. We were stunned. A manager’s job is to resolve issues with professionalism and hospitality — not to dismiss and belittle paying customers.

We did not feel welcome, valued, or treated with basic courtesy. Two months of anticipation ended in humiliation. No amount of food quality can compensate for this level of mismanagement and disrespect.

We will not be returning, and we strongly advise others to think twice before booking here — especially for a large group.

We are from New Jersey, visited this restaurant when we were in UIUC for the graduation ceremony. Awesome food, tasted like home made food. We New Jersians know our Indian food, this one is traditional indian food. Don't miss this place.

We waited 45 minutes to get two curries. Extremely overpriced, very small portions. The naan came out ten minutes after the curry. What am I supposed to eat the naan with at that point? Go to Naya instead, this place sucks
