Finally had the opportunity to sit down and eat at Jodie's Ol' Farmhouse Cafe in Chester Illinois. So very glad I did. While it was a simple meal with a very simple presentation, the taste, the amount, and the overall experience, was absolutely wonderful. Clearly homemade chicken and dumplings, fantastic mashed potatoes covered in what was almost a broth as opposed to a thick gravy, and was delicious.
Great spinach omelette in Popeye town! Coffee, pies, turnovers all very good. Lots of locals. Seems like the happening place in Chester for lunch on a weekday. Friendly and attentive service. Happy to have found this place while traveling through.
Worked for Jodie and David during my high school years living at home. Jodie puts extra effort into everything she does, they both are super friendly and all around great people! I would recommend Ol' Farmhouse for those looking for Southern Illinois home style cooking and a friendly atmosphere!
