It's not as good as it used to be, new cooks I guess.

Food was garbage. Stopped by just passing through. Don't waste your money, trash.

Fried rice looked overcooked.

I would not recommend this place. I don’t typically leave poorly rated reviews but cannot in good conscience go without rating this place. We were on the fence with going here after seeing a wide variety of reviews but I would say it is definitely on the lower end of quality and taste

Pleasant and friendly cashier. Restaurant is neat and clean. The food is prepared while you wait. Fresh food. Delicious 😋. I came for their lunch specials.

I'll never come back again. Had stopped from time to time but the girl that takes the orders at the counter has the nastiest attitude. I was just there last night. If you're going to set up shop in my community, at least pretend like you appreciate my business. Especially if I know you are not going to invest back into the community. IYKYK

Not to mention, your pineapple chicken is nothing but sweet and sour sauce with about 3 pineapple chunks dropped in.

Naw I'm good. I'll learn how to make my own Chinese food.

We decided on Chinese food for NYE night.
Our food was fantastic. I can truly say that we enjoyed our dinner.
Although I would imagine because it was the holiday, it took us 1 hour to order and receive our food. When we ate dinner, it was well worth the wait

I got up this morning and was so hungry I ate my egg drop soup. I also fed my 8 mos gdaughter whom has four teeth. She devoured it half a large. Man she will eat that stuff on a train - in the rain on a bus..., God bless theys hands for they have nourished our bodies with beautiful tastes unmatched international - hands down all the way good food. And I don't eat evrbdy food 🤕. Most enjoyable Chinese food I've had for eons. Love everything y'all make. Much love from chi but KY baps.

TL;DR:
Good food, kind staff, but a few mix-ups along the way. The shrimp fried rice and broccoli in oyster sauce were delicious, and the almond cookies were a nice surprise. However, the cashew shrimp missed the mark with literally, no cashews; and the automatic 10% gratuity caught me off guard. Still, I’d go back for the fried rice and broccoli, just with a bit more attention to detail next time.

The food overall was great, though not quite what I expected. The shrimp fried rice was made extra spicy with chili oil, a flavorful twist I didn’t see coming but really enjoyed. The broccoli in oyster sauce was fresh, aromatic, and perfectly cooked. The almond cookies and fortune were a sweet highlight. However, the cashew shrimp was a miss. There were no cashews at all, and the dish itself wasn’t prepared in the style I’ve had before. Because of that, I wouldn’t order it again, but I’d absolutely come back for the fried rice and broccoli.

Customer
The staff was kind and polite over the phone when I placed my order and answered all my questions clearly. Pickup was quick and easy, which I appreciated. However, when I got home and realized the cashews were missing, I had to call back. They apologized but didn’t offer a solution beyond suggesting I still try the dish. While they were friendly, it would’ve been nice to see a bit more accountability or an offer to make it right.

This is a classic takeout spot: simple, straightforward, and designed for efficiency rather than atmosphere. There’s nothing fancy about it, but they’re quick with orders, especially if you call ahead. For what it is, it serves its purpose well.

Special Note:
After checking my receipt, I noticed an automatic 10% gratuity was already added to my total which was something I didn’t realize until after I had also tipped another 10% at pickup. So I ended up tipping 20%, which isn’t typical for takeout. Just a heads-up for anyone ordering, double-check your receipt before adding an extra tip. Also, there were no utensils included in the bag, so make sure you grab some if you need them.

Overall:
Hong’s Chop Suey has solid food, kind people, and quick service, just a few small misses that, with some extra care, could easily be improved. I’d return for the fried rice and broccoli any day, and hopefully next time, the cashew shrimp comes with, well… cashews.

Returned a curry beef due to its gelatinous chicken broth flavor and consistency. When I kindly asked for another dish I was deflected and given the silent blank stare treatment. Language and competency barrier. The cooks erupted after my request and I decided to ask for my money back. Denied and disrespected. NEVER EAT HERE. United We Stand 🇺🇸

My recent experience with this Chinese restaurant was, to put it mildly, deeply disappointing. I was excited for a delicious meal, but what I received was anything but.
The food was clearly not fresh. The Shrimp was dry and tough, as if it had been sitting out for a long time, and the vegetables were limp and lacked any crispness. The most frustrating part was that everything was lukewarm at best; none of the dishes were hot, which made the already poor quality even worse.
I was expecting a satisfying, fresh meal, but instead, I got something that felt like leftovers. Based on this experience, I absolutely would not recommend this place to anyone.
