I had the Greens..mac & cheese .. Dressing.. Red beans & rice ..cornbread and a Margarita... everything was hot fresh &,Tastee ..I wanted a Bloody Mary but they didnt have the ingredients so I went with the Margarita which had a nice kick to it ...they had a dance party going on with music which made the atmosphere vibrant & fun ...OQ

I had a great experience at 6978 soul food Dorothy was phenomenal in accommodating me at the last minute let me piggyback on their stepper set that they were having and let me have my birthday celebration there I have 15 guests coming and she accommodated me I had a great time and will go back there again and tell anybody else that's a great place to party thanks again Dorothy for your help and letting me have my birthday celebration at the last minute at your place.

Just ordered off of DoorDash and all I can say is wow! This place was absolutely fantastic. Got two pork chops a smothered chicken thigh, drumstick with mashed potatoes and everything was cooked perfectly and tasted incredible. I called and spoke to Dorthy just to let her know what an incredible job she’s doing and how amazing the food is. I’m excited to say that you guys now have lifelong customers!!
Food does not like what it used to be. Catfish is not even season macaroni at the same Black Eyed Peas are mush. I truly don’t know what happened, but it used to be good not anymore.

I often order online and haven't eaten inside so can't speak too much on the environment. Though whenever I pickup it's peaceful.
Much of the pricing is reasonable. I normally go here when I'm treating myself. After my most recent order, I'm finding that some of the dressing is hit or miss. This was probably my 4th or 5th time getting it and it's been different most of the times 😔. Different, not necessarily bad (each time) but different.

I love this restaurant I'm from St Louis and every time I'm in Chicago this is my restaurant that I go to they have showed me nothing but love and great hospitality even during the pandemic me and my husband went and they opened up the back room for me and my husband be able to sit down and have a romantic dinner I love this restaurant and I love that is black own. I will continue to come to this restaurant every time I'm in Chicago the pork steaks smothered pork steaks the greens the candy yams the desserts or excellent I recommend this place hands down I give it a 10 out of a 10
