“Great food! We had the Fish & Chips and the Sheppard's Pie. Both were great. I was expecting typical bar food, and while it was "typical", it was actually really good. I like this place and would tell anyone that you can get a great meal here. I do think the bartenders were a bit under-staffed or under-supported, but they worked hard. We didn't go at a super busy time and we saw service issues. Not sure what service would be like at peak times.”

“We went here for dinner last night and really enjoyed our time and meal. We were able to sit out on the patio space, which was a lovely experience. Our server was really friendly and gave us a full rundown of the menu plus some recommendations. He helped us select a wine too, which we really liked. We shared a bunch of things for our meal. We started with the caesar salad and yellowtail crudo, then had the meatballs and ricotta pillows, then lastly the margherita pizza and charred broccoli (which is actually broccolini, even better!). All of the food was delicious and I’d recommend all of the dishes we had. We’d definitely go back here again.”

“First off, I never dreamed I would visit Chicago. My husband and I got tickets for a conference at the Now arena, and so, here we are. While out on our trip we wanted to sightsee, be tourists, and discover some of Chicago’s best foods. I googled “best pizza” and that led me to Spacca Napoli. We took the hour long trip to the city and finally arrived at our destination. Parking was off the main roads and was free to park. Upon entering the establishment, we were greeted by a beautiful, smiling face… her name was Violet. She warmly invited us in, grabbed us a sample of their focaccia bread with some wine while we waited to be seated. The time went by fast and before long we were seated. Our waiter, who had an Italian accent, did an amazing job. The pizza was literally scrumptious, felt like I had been lied to my entire life and never will I be able to eat and enjoy just any pizza again. The atmosphere, staff, and food knocked me off my feet. My belly even giggled many times over. A place like this will be my reason to go back and visit Chicago again. Thank you Spacca Napoli. 10 out of 10!!”

The owners, Yesenia and Jose were so easy and delightful to work with, the staff was attentive, recommending and teaching games to our guests of all ages, the food was delicious(cheesy eggs and quesitos were scrumptious), and the atmosphere was just perfect! I can't recommend this cafe enough. I look forward to having other functions here and/or coming with a group of friends. I can't wait to start spreading the word to family and friends. The decor was nice and set a perfect atmosphere for a great night . We were greeted immediately upon arrival and seated within 5 minutes of being there . Once seated the wait staff began their introduction's on drinks and popular menu item's. After my party ordered drinks and appetizers a gentleman came over (not sure if he was the manager) and introduce himself and made sure we were having a great experience. Appetizers were amazing!! We couldn't wait for dinner!! Our entrées we just as good if not better ! Everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection! When we didn't think the night could get even better the entire wait staff and the gentleman that came over before stopped and recognized my friend for her birthday and brought over a birthday surprise!! I live 307 miles and this place was definitely worth the drive !!!”

“Wow! We arrived a little early for our Saturday at 7:30 dinner reservations in hopes of getting seated early, if there was a chance. It was restaurant week in Chicago Osteria was very busy. Unable to get a table early, we happily sat at the bar and waited. After debating on what drinks to order, we opted for the "just bring me wine" . The bartender asked if we were having the restaurant week menu, as that had specific wines to go with the courses (which is what we went with). We were seated a little after 7:30, no complaints on my part over that, as they were very busy. When a place is participating in an event such as restaurant week and there is a set menu, one shouldn't expect any substitutions from said set menu. I completely understand this, although having to eat gluten free poses a bit of an issue for me. The options for the main course of the set menu wasn't going to be a problem for me. I inquired about the ingredients on the first course. I knew the bread and roasted garlic, as well as the meatballs were a no go for me and explained that I couldn't eat the prepared salad due to the croutons. Much to my glee, I was offered a caprese salad instead of the Caesar. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the bread with roasted garlic in oil and vinegar, as well as the meatballs and Caeser salad. The soup was a delicious chicken and vegetable soup. At 8:10 started to get nervous about the time, due to us having tickets to see Drunk Shakespeare at 9pm. This was poor timing on my part, I should have reserved our table for 7pm or earlier not 7:30pm. When our waiter came over to check on us I explained that we needed to put out by 8:30(ish). Mild concern came over his eyes and he went back to check in at the kitchen. Moments later, a gentleman came to our table (I'm assuming the manager) to discuss our predicament. He kindly explained that our main course wasn't going to be ready for another 20 minutes (the restaurant was very busy). The timing would have been just fine any other night for us, but not that night. After a discussion with the manager, we all came to an agreement of us having a second bowl of soup and paying ala carte for what we had eaten and forgoing the set menu. I take full responsibility for our poor timing and am delighted in how the restaurant was gracious and accommodating. Our waiter brought over two glasses of chocolate wine to finish off our meal. The food was outstanding and the service was even better. Next time we are in Chicago, I'll make sure to set enough time aside to enjoy the full eating experience.”

My only comment would be that the truffle were too subtle in the roasted chicken, the meat portion was almost too generous, I would have preferred a bit more vegetables. My expectations were a bit too high maybe, in any case it was still a marvellous experience.”

“We went on a Saturday night around 930pm. Not many people in there yet but the crowd that was there was diverse. Different ages and walks of life. Bar tender was friendly enough and took care of business. Poured a stiff drink for a fair price. It is a legit authentic "dive bar" for starters. The real deal. No frills. Not some wanna be staged pretend dive bar with over priced drinks and pretention. It is old, dark and dirty. We wanted to love this place. We loved everything about it except for one thing...And it is a deal breaker for us. Um. The smell. It smells horrible!!! Like an old stale ashtray with a half put out cigarette still going in it and up in your face. It was really really bad. I don't know if someone was actually smoking in there while we were there, but there is definitely still smoking happening inside that place. It burned my eyes and my nostrils. Gave me a headache. Unfortunately, we were one and done (and had a pretty good buzz from our one drink I must say). But sorry, we can't do the cigarette smoke.”

The dogs were great. Natural casing snap. Onions, peppers, mustard. Bun was nice and soft. Parking: The building had a good sized lot around it but it was jam filled (100+ spaces?) even though no one was at the restaurant. Spaces were REALLY tight and hard to get maneuvered out of.”

“I love this restaurant!! Perfect place to go to sample many Polish favorites, or to have a group meal (shower, birthday party, family gathering etc.) in the semi-private back room. All the food is really fresh and well prepared, just like Grandma used to make at home. It Is a buffet, so there are many choices to please every taste level. Desserts are in small portions, which I find very thoughtful, so you can sample more than one item without over doing it. You can also prepare a to-go box of favorites to take home, for an additional 'per pound' charge. The wait staff is welcoming, kind and efficient as well. Adult beverages of cocktails, wine and beer are available, in addition to coffee, tea, milk, and sodas. I enjoy 6-7 visits per year, and am never disappointed.”

We enjoyed our visit in this restaurant our waitress supported us by grilling the food and we enjoyed the dinner. Unfortunately I forgot here name, but I will update the comment when I remember her name. She was really very helpful and with great patience as we not understood in the beginning the system.
So for my followers I will explain the process:
Basicly you have two tiers to select: Silver and Gold. The details of the tiers can give your waitress.
You order through a iPad and each person can order 6 different dishes. Be careful the time is limited on 2 hours.
I would suggest to go early to avoid any waiting times.

“I've been to about 10 tasting menus in Chicago and maybe another 5 while traveling in other cities, and this is now my favorite spot. Around 30 bites that come out rapid fire with a story and everything is good to incredible - how is this possible? Oh, and the menu is constantly changing. We went once at the beginning of November and then 4 weeks later, and the menu was completely different!

One thing that really jumps out is how much fun the staff seems to be having, and it is infectious. They tell stories about the food, wine, utensils, and farms. This could come off as pretentious elsewhere, but here it just feels like genuine excitement and pride in finding something of such quality. The wine pairing was incredibly well thought out too. These were some complex wines, and then there was the saki .. indescribable. My girlfriend and I didn't want to drink that much so they suggested that we just split a single pairing - so accomodating. There are also a few surprises that you won't get at any other tasting menu, but I don't want to spoil them.

I know that there were some negative critic reviews early on, but I can't imagine anyone having a bad experience now. Just go!”
