“Our son lives in Chicago and we asked his girlfriend to choose a nice place for us to fly in and take them out to dinner to celebrate his birthday… Obélix did NOT disappoint! My husband is French and used to work in the food industry so to say our standards are high is an understatement. You will come out of an experience here a few pennies poorer yet you will chalk this up to a rich gastronomical experience bar none. The service is impeccable (timing and engagement) and food, sublime. I was so looking forward to sharing angel food cake with my son as we did while he was growing up but we simply indulged all evening and had no room but for espressos. We enjoyed a bottle of Crémant to start and followed with a bottle of Beaujolais Fleury which was incredible once it opened…. The Dorade was outstanding and my family enjoyed the pâté en croute, soupe à l’onglon gratinée , les escargots bourguignon, macarons avec foie gras; and absolutely adored their aged steaks… the experience was outstanding and was well worth the flight to make a memorable evening with our beloved son. Try to save room for dessert as I hear it’s outstanding !!“
“First timers and now we will be regulars! The hospitality, atmosphere and fare were outstanding! From the knowledgeable staff, the welcoming management and the hostess that went WAY above and beyond to be sure my disabled husband was accommodated from when we booked our reservation to the end of our dining experience - we couldn’t have been more delighted! See you again soon, Lardon!“

“The food is outstanding....so fresh and interesting. Kudos for the very good service we received. Our only concern is the noise level that makes it difficult to hear the person across the table. If the noise level could be lowered, this place would be golden!“

“The food was absolutely delicious. Went with the green shakshuka and it was tremendous, as was the hummus and the house bacon. Our server was also an absolute gem of a human and took excellent care of us. A bit pricey but worth it. Would definitely recommend.“

“We loved our experience at Giant! We’ve been wanting to eat here for a while and thought what better time than to go out for my birthday. My wife and I can’t say enough great things about the food, our server Bailey and the whole experience. Bailey was the best server ever! We love her and will definitely be back.“

“Gather is simply my favorite restaurant in Chicago. Every dish is incredible: the ricotta-honey spread and buttery toast, citrus cured salmon with fried egg, carmelized brussels sprouts with aioli...and that's before you even get to the entrees. Truth be told, I've never actually made it to dessert here because I'm already so stuffed from everything else. The decor is classy but comfortable; you'll dine by candlelight with a list of appealing cocktails ready to hand. If you're lucky, you can sit with a direct view of the kitchen where you can watch the magic happen.Incredible spot--if this place ever closes, you can rest assured that I will weep bitter tears for it. Please go eat here so that doesn't happen.“

“Gotta kick this off with kudos to Eduardo, an amazing staff member at this establishment. He helped curate both my drink and menu selections for the night, was super knowledgeable and attentive throughout. I ordered the pineapple aquachiles, roasted oysters and lamb neck birria. All were very tasty, however the lamb birria was life changing. Will definitely be returning for another round soon.“

“Few months late! Came to Penumbra for Valentine’s Day and it was such a great choice. Ambiance set was really intimate, requested the private curtain area ahead of time and it felt like we were on our own place. Felt like a family owned place. The food and service were equally as good and on our way out an employee handed us a small rose shaped soap and thanked us for dining in. We had the bocaditos quesadilla which was the best version of a quesadilla we’ve had, shadow shrimp, a flat iron steak, and surf and turf. We ate/loved everything.“

“Nice cozy atmosphere with great service. The wine selection is HUGE and there's something for everyone's liking. Wait time was long for a Friday night but it was totally worth the experience. Waitstaff is excellent - friendly, and professional. The fried almonds were so good and can be a great pairing for the wine.“

“Ivonne was a fantastic waitress and the food was immaculately put together. The flavors and textures were incredible and I'm glad to have ventured out of the downtown area to explore. I loved that they attempt to do farm-to-fork on a micro scale... how cool and clever.“

“I would probably go 4.5 but I'll round up because we did have great service. We came during restaurant week and got the four course meals. In all we got: Crab croquettes: 4/5 Kale apple salad: 5/5 Burrata: 4/5 Bok choy: 4/5 Steak dish: 5/5 Agnolotti: 4/5 Crème brûlée: 3/5 Chocolate dessert: 4/5 The salad and steak are must orders! Everything else was tasty too! The agnolotti was on the sweet side which was different but still good. The bok choy was a bit too smoky for my taste but still good. The crème brûlée lacked some flavor but the salted caramel ice cream and crispy bits on the chocolate dessert was delicious and I'm not even a chocolate person. For wine, I got the orange wine (mellower one) and the still rose. Both were good! My husband got the Chianti which was also good. We would def come back! They also have a good happy hour specials so we will try to come for that.“

“Love the vibe of this place! Great selection of wine. Nice music in the background, a dj was setting up as we were leaving. Definitely gets crowded after 8pm.Staff is exceptionally accommodating! Shout out to Holly the manager for being so personable and understanding when we had to tweak our reservation. The menu is not extensive andddd a little pricey for the portions that you get, however presentation and taste was good, you pay to be in a nice atmosphere!Highly recommend.Parking: Limited parking on Cottage, May have to park on side streets“

“From the moment we stepped into Munno Pizzeria and Bistro, we were greeted with a warmth that only foreshadowed the delightful evening ahead. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between elegance and comfort, making it an ideal setting for any occasion. Each dish we ordered was a testament to the chef’s mastery over Italian cuisine, blending traditional flavors with a modern twist that left us savoring every bite. The pizza, with its perfectly charred crust and innovative toppings, was a highlight, while the pasta dishes were reminiscent of a culinary journey through Italy. What truly sets Munno apart, however, is the impeccable service. The staff’s attention to detail and genuine care for the dining experience made us feel truly special. Our dinner at Munno Pizzeria and Bistro wasn’t just a meal; it was a memorable dining experience that we’re already looking forward to repeating. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, missing out on this Michelin-starred gem would be a mistake. Bravo to the Munno team for exceeding our expectations!“

“Was in town for a national conference and had tried many other places until we got here. The food was amazing but our server Kevin made the experience so much better! “Awesome vegetarian options at a French restaurant—feels super rare! Went for happy hour + dinner as a birthday surprise for my boyfriend (who’s newly vegetarian). Every dish was tasty and felt original. My favorite was the mushroom “escargot” (much more memorable than regular escargot) and my partner’s favorite was the carrot tartare. The chamomile bourbon soda was also tasty—their happy hour specials were a great value. Already wanna plan my next visit to try more!!“

“This is now my favorite restaurant in Chicago. The presentation of the fish to introduce the customers to the choices of fish was unique and interesting. The filet steaks are as delicious as the seafood. The bass, snapper, and perch melted in your mouth. The muscles and shrimp appetizers were fresh and tasty. The cream spinach and asparagus were side dishes also delicious and hot. To top it off, we had chocolate mouse cake to die for. Our expresso Martin, Manhattan and old fashion along with a bottle wine really set the mood. I can not say enough about this place.Parking: I used the Spot Hero app. To find a place for $15 on Cedar Street, good for 3 hours or $18 for 7 hours. One block away. Valet is only $20.Wheelchair accessibility: There are no stairs, and there is a side door to get a wheel chair through.“

“The atmosphere was more casual & rustic than expected (basically a heated garden shed), and the menu is small, but the food was amazing. The brussel sprouts were delicious. The trout was very good, but could have used a heartier veggie pairing like potatoes. Their Bad Romance cocktail was one of my favorites. I probably wouldn't return for a while since the majority of their menu is red meat and cheese (which I don't eat) but perhaps when their menu is updated seasonally, if they have a different seafood option. The back patio looked nice for warmer weather. (Note it is quite a small venue with only 1 bathroom.)“

“This is an amazing grocery store in the heart of Lincoln Square. They have a great selection of groceries, the second floor adds in a large wine liquor and beer selection, and finally the butcher can't be beat. From fresh cut lamb chops, to as many brat varieties as you can think of, to freshly made pasta salad, they have it all. A must visit if you are in the area!Parking: Limited amount of spots available in the front of the store.“

“Tonight, the Wife and I asked for a table of 4, saw multiple tables open. Host replied with "Looks like we're not going to have table free for the rest of the night." Our 2 friends walked in about 5 minutes after us for a table, Host proceeds to not automatically deny them and asks the servers. Servers apparently had a problem with having another table until another server came worked it out. Finally, Wife and I walk back in to join our friends and overhear 2 servers discussing with the host about not seating anyone after 9pm (they close at midnight btw) Great to know that you wanting to close early is more important than actually doing your jobs and making easy money (we only got drinks and 2 apps) Pathetic, will not come back. “In town for business, went to The Capital Grille for a steak dinner. It was, oh, so much more! Ordered a cesar salad, new York steak, bone out. And the asparagus. The Cesar salad was delicious, with generous portions of shaved parmesean cheese. My steak ordered as medium rare, was absolutely perfect. The asparagus grilled with lemon wedge was a perfect complement. The dinner was perfect! I also ordered a Merlot wine by the glass, which was recommended by Blake, my server, who was excellent! She was so attentive and friendly! Almost all the wait staff stopped to ask if everything was okay and asked if I needed anything! The manager. Adam, also stopped and asked if everything was okay. The evening was perfect! I only wish my visit to Chicago was a more personal, elegant visit because this is where I would want to be! As if to show the elegance, I thought about having black napkins for guests wearing black. And then the manager, Adam, walked by with black napkins! Elegance is an exceptional quality. This should be a MUST for visitors who visit Chicago!“

“Last night, my girlfriend and I celebrated her 30th birthday with an unforgettable dinner at Roister. The evening was nothing short of magical, beginning with the Market Oysters that were delicately smoked and served with a tangy mignonette sauce. The shishito peppers, paired with a savory topping, were a burst of flavor that set the stage for the rest of the meal. Each dish was a masterpiece, not only in taste but also in presentation. The Pork Belly was succulent and perfectly seasoned, melting effortlessly at each bite. The Fried Chicken & Caviar was a surprising blend of down-home comfort and upscale indulgence, creating a delightful contrast. The star of the show was undoubtedly the Hearth Grilled Scallop. The cauliflower purée and fresh melon provided a sweet and creamy backdrop to the perfectly charred scallops. Following this was the Blue Crab with sofrito, which was a testament to the chef’s attention to detail and flavor balance. For dessert, the Butternut Squash Sorbet was a refreshing palate cleanser, and the Banana with pecan ice cream ended our meal on a decadently sweet note. Each plate was not only a treat for the palate but a feast for the eyes, served on beautifully curated dishware that enhanced the overall experience. The service was impeccable, attentive without being intrusive, allowing us to savor each moment of our celebration. Roister has truly set a high bar for culinary excellence and a memorable dining experience. Five stars are not enough to capture the essence of our evening. We will definitely be returning!“

“Brindille pronounced "Braun-DEE", translates to "new growth" in French with a woman chef at the helm! We like a woman chef! This spot is exquisite and elegant but also inviting. It's perfect for a romantic dinner or special celebration. It's adorned with black and white art, dark with intimate lighting. The attentive staff ensures a top notch dining experience. We ordered the iced oysters to start things off. The feuillete is an elegant light biscuit stuffed with mushrooms and spinach. It was delightful. The gem salad was fresh and a perfect addition. We finished with the scallops and fries. This is a huge helping of shoe strong fries served with mayonnaise which is superior! Love the story. Loved the restaurant. Loved the food.“

“Thank you guys for checking out my review for you today I want to talk about one of my favorite establishments A&S beverages wine and spirits located on Halsted. Being in the Mixology industry for so many years it's often difficult to find establishments that carry everything that I need when I do events or when I happen to be training bartenders one thing's for sure and two things for certain that this establishment is the One-Stop shop for all your needs you are greeted with welcoming smiles and friendly hellos there is a very homely presence whenever you are in any of the three locations you will quickly notice the eye-catching displays and the different selection of spirits and wines one of my favorite Spirits would be tequila and rum anyone that knows me I like Jamaican Apple Puerto Rican rum Dominican rum Brazilian rum and when it comes to Tequila I like more of a robust taste so I really mostly lean towards a very good aged Reposado or anjeoAlso for my cigar lovers there is an amazing selection of premium cigars and also there are hookah starter kits and there's even something for customers who might not want any alcohol there are tons of non-alcoholic wines beers and beverages don't take my word from it just stop by and experience the world class customer service that Eddie and his team have to offer.“

I discovered the Gruvi (alcohol removwd red wine) brand here. They have small bites that are actually pretty delicious. It's also a beverage depot so if you dont want to sit, pick a bottle and go!“

“Burger and wine by the Glass for $21! Burger and Old fashioned cocktail for $21. We went to Webster Wine bar because it made the top 15 Chicago burger list. We were not disappointed! On Wednesdays there is a special for the burger and any drink for $21. What a deal! Our burgers came out quick and were delicious. They used Slagel Farm’s beef, and SHARP cheddar cheese instead of American. I love cheddar over American cheese any day. First time to Logan square and it was charming with the wide boulevards. Wine bar looks over the park and is very sophisticated. The wine list was impressive. Classy little place! Great for date night.“

“Suda’s offers delicious Lebanese cuisine in an upscale and intimate dining space. We came in a large group and got to try out a variety of dishes, all amazed by the flavors and beautiful plating of the food — the roasted cauliflower (Arnibit), falafel, and baba ghanouj were delicious appetizers; among the mains, we loved the shrimp and lamb skewers, while the mixed grill offered a variety of meats; for dessert, the Knaef was a sweet and decadent standout. The prices here are on a slightly higher end, but the exceptional quality of the food makes it well worth it.“

“The food here is beyond exquisite. Homemade gnocchi and table side polenta steal the show, but everything is amazing. Make sure to ask for a table outside in the wine garden in the back. You will pass through this tiny restaurant into a true oasis in the back. The unassuming front of the restaurant wouldn’t make you think the food is as incredible as it is.“

“I popped in just to meet my friend but then I had a dirty martini and now I am OBSESSED with it. You don’t expect much from a dirty martini right? It’s dirty. That’s it. Yum. And this was…… so good. Something about this dirt. Cuz I asked the bartender and he was saying something about the brine, it was somehow floral? He said the brine - not the vermouth. Idc. I just want another one. And then there’s the story: which I never got right, so I will irresponsibly spread it around here to generate more sensation. Something about… the original owner was tragically shot and died on the premises, in the bar. The wife shuttered the place and went upstairs for sixty years. The new owners kept the interior, the bar has original wood work and features. It is o. L. D. In a good way. I have no idea if that story is accurate or true. But I loved believing it while I was in there. What a great thing to be so surprised by a bar on division in wicker park! I love Chicago!“

“This was such a pleasant surprise and hidden gem for the neighborhood. The whole meal was amazing, portions were good and the flavors were on point. Service was great and they even gave us the most amazing cheesy soft chewy hot out of the pizza oven bread on the house when we asked for extra bread to sop up the sauce in the mussels. Everything at this place is delicious and unique! We would highly recommend Buona Terra Ristorante for a genuinely next level, Italian dining experience.“
“The drink I had was excellent! The flavors blended together perfectly. The service was absolutely terrible for a place of this caliber. Waited over 15 minutes for a server to come over, ordered drinks and was advised that they were doing last call in 15 minutes at 11:30 (posted closing time was 1am). Server asked us if we wanted to close or run a tab. We left it open, another woman brought it back closed out at 1130 and told us it was too late to order anything else. The 2nd server was also missing a front tooth and seemed to be high on drugs or something. Questionable at best“

“How have I never come upon this cute old school Italian spot? Went for a casual dinner after yoga and it was a super casual crowd. Service was fast and friendly and she gave me my pasta recommendation, which I loved. If you only get one thing, get the Italian scampi. Our server said it was her fave dish and it did NOT disappoint! The shrimps are huge and breaded so lightly and the flavor was amazing. The sauce was also so good, I scooped it with a spoon. My friend got the linguine and clams was which was also delish. The lemon Italian ice was nice I was told and the espresso gelato was soft, creamy and decadent. It might have been the smallest and lightest touch espresso martini I've ever had. Will definitely be back for either pasta and to try others, taking off one star bc I thought the portions were pretty small and the espresso martinis were light and also small.“
