“Bloom has become my favorite place to grab brunch in Wicker Park on Sundays! Stunning atmosphere, incredibly thoughtful, kind, attentive staff, and the food consistently blows me away! This weekend I went with a friend and we shared their Avocado Toast special which was an easy 10/10. Their Caesar Salad is always a must (and a tasty way to sneak in greens with brunch). The star of the show for me is always the Tempeh Ranchero Omelette - it nearly brings me to tears every single time (it's that GREAT)!! It was nearly 70 degrees outside and we sat right in the window with them open and it was glorious. If you're looking for a great spot for a girl's brunch, date night, or foodie spot in Chicago, this is an absolute MUST!“

“We had lunch today at Thattu. It was bustling with almost every table full, but the tables have ample space between them and it wasn’t too loud. The beautiful exposed brick and huge windows cast a warm glow on the modern dining room. They nailed Indian flavors without being heavy or greasy, and the fun fusion dishes we tried, like Indian-spiced tater tots with sulfur salt and beet ketchup are well executed and a lot of fun. It would be easy to eat healthy at Thattu, and I enjoyed the vegetarian combo with vegetable curry, rice, beans, and sauteed Brussels sprouts with coconut. We also tried the fried chicken with dill sauce, and the catfish.Guests order through an app at Thattu, and the cost is inclusive of service. They don’t accept tips. At lunch, you grab your own flatware, napkins, and water from a bar in the dining room. We didn’t mind this. One particularly nice touch was that when we arrived, there were no tables available, and we agreed to sit at the bar. The host said he would let us know if a table became available, since sometimes guests cancel very close to their reservation time. Lucky for us, about 10 minutes after we arrived, the host brought us to a table. It was kind of him to remember our preference and work on that for us. Googling the restaurant later, I realized that the handsome host was co-owner Vinod Kalathil. He’s clearly a wonderful business owner who knows how to make his customers happy.Thattu2601 W Fletcher StreetChicago’s Avondale neighborhood“

We sat at the counter in full view of the kitchen (the cooks seemed unflappable). As soon as we left, we already started talking about when we might come back. We got the Tahini Ranch Fried Chicken Sandwich, the Kefta Burger, and the Stuffed Falafel; not a dud in the bunch. The toppings and condiments that some on the burger and sandwich made basic diner food such a delight without feeling over the top. The real stand out was the stuffed falafel. I never thought of having a filling in a falafel, and the sweetness of the caramelized onions was such a delicious complexity to a classic Middle Eastern dish. Service was very quick too without sacrificing quality, in addition feels "light" in a good way without all the heavy grease and salt. It's hard finding vegan restaurants with large vegan menu options, including desserts like cake and brownie dessserts that taste so good like "regular" cake/brownies, so this place has it all! I realized I was getting full as I was finishing my second one, so I stopped to wait for my wrap. The Mac and cheese balls are perfectly fried and an amazing cheesy taste. Plus they're served with a "ranch"sauce that is delightful. The tofu buffalo wrap was one of the best wraps I've had in a while because it's exactly my style- nothing over the top, just simple ingredients flavored and wrapped to perfection. “This is a one of a kind "fast food" restaurant. I like to think of it as the Chipotle of Indian food. I had the chicken tikka wrap. They have standard Indian curry dishes, both meat and vegetarian curries, and they wrap them up in a pita-like bread. It's like an Indian burrito. Everything is a la carte, but if you get the house made chips (I think they're plantain chips, but I'm not sure), they give you this awesome sweet and spicy ketchup dipping sauce. “The food here was delicious and so filling. I came with a group of 5 and basically ordered one item from each section on the menu, trying a lamb, beef, seafood, veggie, and chicken selection. Honestly, I don’t even know if we specifically got what we ordered; it seemed like the server just gave us what she thought was good for each section, which was fine by us.Eritrean food and Ethiopian food have a fairly large overlap, sharing the injera and eating style, but differing on certain sauces and use of tomatoes (among other things). The injera here wasn’t as sour as I’ve had at other places, which I found I actually prefer, and I really loved its taste. The salad in the middle was a nice touch and the dressing was delicious. All the flavors of each item were rich and robust. My favorite was the fish— it was tender and full of flavor; I felt the beef was pretty tough/overcooked though. Overall, it was a lot of food and we all were extremely stuffed afterwards; it was well worth the ~$30 per person cost.A family-owned neighborhood restaurant with very homey vibes and a spacious interior, our servers were super sweet and attentive. They kept bringing out more injera, various spicy sauces, and water for us. Though the food took quite some time to come out, it was worth it when it arrived. Overall, it’s a great spot to bring a larger group, and if I lived closer I would definitely come more regularly.—Price (relative to peers): 4.2/5Food: 4.5/5Ambience: 4.4/5Service: 4.8/5Overall Value: 4.5/5“

“Not only is the coffee the best around, but it is the most unique gem of a coffee shop hidden in a busy area. There are many cozy and private spaces tucked within walls lined with books and vintage pantings. There is an unspoken, respectful quiet ambiance for studying or sharing soft conversations over a great sandwich and latte. I loved going here when I was a student at DePaul and Adler university in my city days. It was such a treat to bring my young daughter there to visit 10 years later. She even found a cool vintage Barbie mystery book to look at, and a Russian ballet book. One of my favorite places in the city ❤️“

“This is was a nice experience, when you walk in it gives you chipotle vibes. For us Muslims’ this is a halal mediterranean chipotle and it’s actually pretty good. Not the best mediterranean food but it’s really good if you want to take a quick lunch break. Great service.“

“Love this place! The food, the service and the speed of the workers. They handle the lunch time rush everyday with ease. Workers always great with a smile and get the order right every time. I want to highlight Nallely, LuLu, Lupe, Victor, Jesus and Jose. The whole staff there is amazing. Thank you for all the hard work you do.“

“Veggitopia's food was an absolutely amazing surprise to me. I had ordered the Philly cheesesteak and loaded hummus after seeing a promotion that they were offering. My expectations were to receive average food, but I have to say that Veggitopia gave me vegan food that tasted miles better than even some of the non-vegan restaurants/kitchens in the area. If this is their mission, then they are on a great track to accomplish it. I was blown away. I have no complaints or constructive criticism. I really hope that they keep up the quality and I encourage anyone that is on the fence to try them out!“
