“I recently was visiting Chicago and as a habit, I searched for Best Gluten Free bakery and discovered Defloured. What an amazing place. As a Celiac, finding good GF baked goods is rare to find. Wow what a selection. I purchased a chocolate cupcake, two love pucks, cinnamon rolls, poppy lemon bread, baguette, and aNutella sandwich cookie. Everything was really delicious. I mean world class quality. I now plan on making regular visits to Chicago so I can load up and fill my freezer with possibly the best GF baked goods in the U.S. I’ve tried a lot.“

“Truly lives up to the hype. I've been wanting to try this bakery for a long time since everyone says it has the best tres leches and I've had tres leches from many bakeries but this truly is the best tres leches in Chicago and probably the best I've had. We tried the mango and Oreo ones and the Oreo one was truly delicious! The mango one tasted a little too sweet for me and I wish it had a stronger mango flavor but still really but the Oreo one was incredible! I highly recommend trying that one. The owner was also there and chatted with us and talked about the other flavors as well. Will try those next time we visit!“

“Great little place. Got there at 5:00, it closes at 6.... but by 5:30 it was packed with dinners at tables and picking up take out. Perhaps stay open until 7?? Seems like there's a lot of demand right after work gets out. Tried several things, but the savory menu was probably my favorite. BLT Biscuit was excellent with lots of thick cut bacon. The Sausage Biscuit was phenomenal, especially with the perfectly cooked jammy egg on top! The Chicken Pot Pie was also good, with excellent crust crammed full of nice thick filling, with plenty of meat. Then we tried the Quiche. Lovely fluffy texture in the eggs and tons of vegetables, again with a great crust. The two sweet pies we tried were the Key Lime and the Chicory Chocolate French Silk. I liked them both, wanted a little more greatness in the key lime - but for those who like the creamier smoother flavored key lines it would be perfect. The chocolate again was good but i craved a little bit more of an intense punch of flavor. Just my personal preferences. There was nothing i wouldn't eat again, and i think it was all very fairly priced. Nice bohemian atmosphere and great service. Definitely recommend.“

“Got there 15 mins before it opened and wasn’t one of the first 30 people in line, that’s when you know this bakery is going to be amazing! When I finally walked the I was greeted by the nice and knowledgeable staff. My savory dish was the bacon brioche and it was phenomenal! Crispy on the outside but soft in the inside. My first sweet bite was the salted caramel brown butter blondie brownie. It was delicious! They even let you choose a center or corner piece. My favorite pastry was the banana pudding croissant, it was even better than I thought it would be. I also got the basque cheesecake which was well prepared but the time I went they had peanut butter on it which I’m not a fan of. But I’m willing to try it again when they have a different flavor. Such a great bakery, will definitely come back.“

“I went for the first time today (FOR SCIENCE!) and pretty much bought one of everything baked (plus an iced cold brew). I can't find a single negative thing to say, aside from wishing I'd bought more! Friendly folks at and behind the counter. The ham and cheese croissants were amazing as was the mushroom Danish! I don't even particularly like BLTs, but theirs was lovely! The almond, strawberry, and chocolate croissants (that's three separate things...) were out of this world! Welcome! I’ve been to Levain in NY & DC and the quality was also consistent here: buttery with crispy outer layer and soft inside layer! I got the promo winter tin with 8 cookies: dark chocolate chocolate chip cookies & walnut chocolate chip cookies. They were yummy! My favorite chocolate chip cookie in the world!“

They also have the most reasonable prices I’ve seen in the city, (like pre-COVID pricing—croissants for example are $5 while other places I’ve visited are $6-10) and no tipping option, which tells me they pay their employees a living wage. It’s also a quiet, cute little oasis. I will definitely be returning.“

“This is not technically a review of their baked goods, which are undeniably amazing and baked with love as you’ll see in this story. Jennivee's Bakery , LLC’s AMAZING staff saved my dogs life!! This past Friday, one of the owners, Andres, the bakery staff, and an amazing group of dedicated bystanders rescued my dog, Mo, who had run off in Oz Park and was missing and in danger for hours prior to his rescue. After seeing Mo dart into traffic multiple times, this amazing group of strangers was able to corner him, and Andres bravely was able to grab him. He and the team at Jennivee’s then sheltered him and calmed him as long as it took and were ultimately able to bring him to Bond Vet who scanned his microchip and got in touch with me. My dogs are basically my kids. I pour allllll of my love into them. I still can’t believe how lucky we got and how close of a call this was. We’re shaken but relieved and endlessly grateful to Andres and everyone at Jennivee’s!!! Run don’t walk to get yourself some amazing treats and support this incredible business and the people in it!!!!“
