“This place and concept are too cute! We stopped here for dessert during our trip to Chicago. Once in line, the staff are extremely helpful and work efficiently in an assembly line to get what you want. They also offer samples, so you can make sure you're satisfied with the flavor you order. We ordered a monkey in a banana flavor, a pig in a fruity pebbles flavor, and a panda in a cookies and cream flavor. The ice cream was so delicious and creamy, and it was just too stinkin' cute! I almost didn't want to eat it, but it sure was tasty.“

“My campus organization got our Formal catered by Coralie and were incredibly pleased! The service we received was phenomenal, as the owner (Pascal) was very communicative and flexible when we needed to change plans. He spoke with me to coordinate the order and even provided delivery. The food was beyond delicious and everyone at the event took the extra servings home! We ordered the tomato, lorraine, smoked salmon, and ratatouille quiches, as well as the flan, napoleon, and lemon meringue. They were all delicious and Coralie provided them presliced for us, which made the event go even smoother. Coralie is well worth the price and a lovely local business!“

Birthday Cake

“We picked up a Star Wars birthday cake for our 4 yr old son and it was absolutely incredible. We were looking for a cake without high fructose corn syrup, fake dies and a light natural tasting cake and this was it. We also ordered cup cakes to bring to our son’s school the following day. Thrilled with our cake and will come back for all future cakes. Thank you!“

“Sometimes you don’t know what you’re missing until you stumble upon Te Cake. I’m glad the L brought me this way and I had to walk by it for my sports games. The owners are the best and so friendly. The desserts are all crafted with such creativity and what makes it the best is the light sweetness and different textures and flavors they combine. Perfect place to stop in and get a light and tasty dessert. Really any dessert is worth trying here, whether it’s the cake slices, cake cups or fruit boxes.“

Panaderia El Acambaro Bakery • $
1720 W 18th St, Chicago

“This was such a short walk from my Airbnb so i figures I give it a go since there were so many reviews and it was an /amazing/ choice. You can’t go wrong with anything here. Croissants if you like airy, buttery tastes. The pineapple flavored what looks like empanadas? Whatever it was, it was a pocket full of crunchy pastry dough on the outside and gorgeous, gooey pineapple filling on the inside. There were also these huge blocks of fluffy sweet bread that were only a dollar. So worth; I definitely recommend the (cream) cheese and the pineapple. Lastly, I always have to try a bakery’s simple doughnut. They have one that’s not glazed but coated in granulated sugar and it was amazing. I could only imagine what it would taste like if I microwaved it for a hot second and served it with some ice cream. Every item I got for a $1 a STEAL. Thank you for the good eats!!!! “

“Came here twice at different times of the day, morning and late afternoon. I saw some negative comments mentioning that the place frequently runs out of croissants after 3pm and to some extent that's expected -it would be silly of a business to bake a new batch of something at the end of the day just to sell a few and toss the rest in the trash. So naturally the more popular items are all going to be gone by the end of the day but even then, there was still a decent variety of choices when I was there around 4:30-5.I don't know the story behind this place, it appears to be connected to the Asian spot next door, but either way the croissants and pastries are top notch and pumps out croissants reminiscent of those I've had in France. The place is a little pricey but it's on par with other large American cities -not to say that's "okay", it does feel like a price gauge when you can get a killer croissant in France for 1 euro but hey, we're not in France, this is Chicago.“
