“Update:I guess things have really changed!!! Not great and not even good. Biggest issue, we received 2 incorrect dishes than what was ordered. Portions were smaller and food was very sloppy.Hot & sour soup was very smoky, almost burned tasting.9 months ago: Our family voted, best Szechuan restaurant in the country! After trying several across the US over the past few years, this is a gem for Chicago. You don't want to miss it.The food here is hot, fresh, and loaded with flavor!“
“The chili chicken was one of the best entrées I’ve had in the last 10 years. Their food is fantastic every time that we’ve been there and the service cannot be beat. This is a great family owned establishment and there’s no reason to go to any other Chinese restaurant in the city of Chicago Stars.“
“To start: edamame, Xiao Long Bao, scallion pancakeShared meal: orange beef, dan dan noodles, cashew chickenEverything was so delicious! We wanted a bit of heat and were able to get great dishes and control the spicy level. This place is worth trying to find parking.“
“Had their 沸腾活鱼 and it was delicious! You can definitely taste the freshness of the fish filet plus the whole dish was spicy and flavorful.Do not let the location (basement of the mall) and the appearance of the store fool you, they make some delicious Szechuan dishes.“
“Dined in on a Tuesday evening. We were the only customers inside for a good 15 minutes, so service was attentive. The food was life changing. The mapo tofu is life changing. The texture of the tofu is stellar, the mala spice bite is euphoric. Also got squirrel fish and dry chili rabbit. Both were very nice. Also received free glass jelly mid-meal which was very appreciated as I was melting through my skin. If you like spicy food, definitely try it out.“
“In Chengdu, the dumplings taste great and are so authentic that they are endlessly memorable. In addition to dumplings, their grilled fish is also very good and delicious. The deliciousness of the dumplings is especially worth mentioning, every bite is the ultimate enjoyment for the taste buds.At Chengdu Image, the dumplings are incredibly delicious and authentically flavored, leaving a lasting impression. Besides the dumplings, the grilled fish is also quite good, with a delightful taste. The deliciousness of the dumplings deserves special mention, as each bite offers a supreme pleasure to the taste buds.“
“Latest outpost of a Halsted Street restaurant and the chef here is the best of the bunch. Extremely authentic Sichuan food but still good variety of non-spicy options if you go with friends who don’t like spice. Classics - mapo tofu, spicy boiled beef, tea smoked duck, twice-cooked pork - are reliably tasty. There are a smattering of dishes for the less adventurous.“
“Finally made it here last Saturday. I was expecting to encounter overhyped food but was gladly mistaken. Everything we had was fresh to order. I do not have any complaints. We will definitely be going back to try other items. I have tried many Asian restaurants and have been mostly let down. This restaurant and Wah Sun are the only restaurants I will go to.“
“I came here once to try it out. We did a mix of 2 pork and 2 beef baos. The baos were a good size and they were flavorful. Meat was fresh and bun was soft. I honestly forgot what my main entree was but it was very decent. Broth was savory not watery. Meat and egg were delicious. Noodles were soft and a little chewy. Service was good. There were plenty of tables to eat. We did paid street parking. Prices were okay.“
“We recently ordered from the website instead of DoorDash, and our order was 40 minutes late. Employees tried to say that the food was already delivered, but then claimed the delivery guy had too many orders. The language barrier was an issue. I’d recommend using DoorDash or some app in order for this restaurant to have accountability. I almost cancelled the order by the time the food was delivered.Food is always fresh and tastes great. But service is an issue.Vegetarian options: Veggie hot pot is really good, has a good variety of vegetables.“
“This place is currently on of my favorite places to get Chinese food! For start the owner, a lady, is super sweet! She gave me and my grandma some cookies that were really good! They all are very friendly :)Outside of that the food here is amazing, I love the chicken fried rice and the general tso's chicken! Their fruit teas are amazing and such a good price!100/10 recommend, it's a peaceful atmosphere as well. As someone with sensory issues it's great to eat here.“
“Authentic. Chinese. Street. Food!!! Here you can indulge in the flavors of food from ChenDu, which is the capital of Sichuan, in China! The spices and flavors in the dishes are so tasty. Here’s what I tried: Tempting Bon Bon Chicken Fiery Spicy Fries Delights Hot & Sour Fern Root Noodles Wholesome Wonton Chicken Soup Single Choice Hot Pot w/imitation crab meat Three Cannons ChengDu Osmanthus Cake Mango Soda Drink 芒果少女心 The Bon Bon Chicken was my favorite! It was so many flavors at once with the chili oil, soy sauce, slight sweetness and sesame oil. The Wonton chicken soup is so warm and comforting and the dumplings are made in house. I love how airy and modern the space is; there is room for big groups - which I really like. Put them on your list to visit and tell em that Bri from Planes and Plates sent you!“
