“Super cool place. It's a part-Vietnamese restaurant and part-convenience store with Asian snacks. It's in a pretty hip neighborhood. The pho broth was decent but wasn't as flavorful as other pho broths I've had. Still tasty. The thing I liked is that they used slightly thicker pho noodles. The salt & pepper fried chicken skin was a little bland, but fried perfectly. It went well with the hot sauce. My favorite dish was the Hainan chicken. It was poached to perfection and tasted delicious with the 3 sauces. The rice was addicting and the side soup made sure things weren't too dry. 4/5 for food, service, and environment.“

Only thing I didn’t like was the limited menu add on options compared to some other ramen places around Chicago.2.) Parking can be difficult to find in the area when it’s busy.3.) Service is top line. They refill waters/tea and clear dishes so fast. Dessert menu came immediately after the main course.“

“A long overdue review. Noodlebird is one of the best restaurants in Chicago. Every dish is full-flavored, bold, and made with thoughtful and creative pairings. The smoked tofu is incredible, the curry is my favorite, the peanut noodles are so soft and delicious, and the veggie Mac soup is one of my favorites. The bakery is also one of the best in the city. The creative desserts like mochi doughnuts, banana caramel brownie (my favorite brownie ever), the egg tarts (a must if you’ve never tried), the passion fruit Masada, and so many more are the perfect way to end the meal. The service is top notch, timely, super friendly, and warm.Noodlebird deserves any and all accolades for its super-creative dishes, friendly service, intensely flavored food, etc.“

“Very cozy asian-style noodle spot!I ordered a beef pad thai for lunch. The food was good, but it wasn’t until I added fish sauce and chili at home where all the flavors came out and molded together! I wish I asked for the condiments in-person. The beef was more on the hard side though, I wish it was softer. The portion was bigger than I expected but was the perfect size. I would love to come back and try other noodle dishes on the menu.In terms of service, I was greeted with smiles by the hostess doubling as a server as I walked in the door. Very attentive and very kind. She knows her customers very well. The food came out quick and I was able to get a good meal in while I was in-between classes. The music was great it contributed to the ambiance. I loved the fact that I could also hear the wok sizzling in the background as they were cooking.Parking: There’s a side street that’s not paid but it’s difficult to find parking. Only give the atmosphere 4 stars because it's a teeny tiny restaurant but it's comfortable and when the weather is nice, their patio is cute! But we typically do takeout since it's so easy and close by. The owners and everyone who works there has always been friendly and kind. Highly recommend.Vegetarian options: Many dishes - noodles and curry - offer a selection for the type of protein so many can be made vegetarian with choosing the option of either tofu or just vegetables.Kid-friendliness: Friendly and allowing of children. “Ever since they opened we go out of our way to frequent this place. We have other Thai places within walking distance from our condo but a short drive yields better quality Thai food and wonderful service. Ambiance: The place is super clean which is a plus. If the front of the house is immaculate, I would think the kitchen is the same. The food is amazing. Tiger Cry is amazing and they give a nice size portion compared to other places. Sweet/savory marinated thin slices of beef char-grilled is wonderful. Don't hesitate on the fried shumai- Fried shrimp shu-mai, served with light sweet and sour sauce. Awesome finger food. You can't go wrong with any of the curry dishes. This last round we had the Gaeng Masaman - Masaman curry and potatoes sauteed in coconut milk with peanuts and chicken. Great flavor. So many selections but all have been great! I love the fact you can choose the level of spiciness for each dish depending on your preferences. We go full-tilt hot as hell spicy and it does not disappoint! Pricing is a bit lower than your average Thai places and portions are more generous. 3 dishes for 2 people yields leftovers! Owner is friendly and I can tell he loves what he does and is looking out for the diners. This is the place you want to make sure thrives. Go pay them a visit.“

“Hello to all who read this review. It pains my heart to leave this review. This restaurant use to be one of my favorites, but since the old owners are no longer running things I have to say that my recent visit was a waste of money. I ordered some soup and basil egg rolls and the egg rolls tasted like frozen food, the chicken inside of the rolls were very dry with no taste to it. I didn't taste the basil like I use to, I didn't finish it, I tossed it out. The soup was not like I'm accustomed to. Wasn't sour at all, wasn't spicy at all, and too many DAMN mushrooms in it!. I was furious and through all of it out. Stick a fork in me I'm done with Ben's noodles.“

“On this visit we were celebrating a birthday. Follow us on this joyous occasion!First of all, this location is in the Chinatown Square Plaza. If you have never been, this plaza is huge and celebrates the Chinese culture showcasing their food, arts, crafts, fashion, etc. It is an electrifying experience walking around!JoyYee Plus is located in the second floor of the plaza. It’s an awkward location, but we overlooked it because we were excited for the experience. The restaurant is neat and modern with modern seating and furniture and some Manga paintings on the walls that make it exciting to walk into. But that’s about it for ambiance. No music or staff interaction other than the waitstaff. The main reason for the visit was the Shabu Shabu offering and the choice meats available. The menu is large and with some incredible options covering all food groups and menu choices! I wanted to order one of each! ?We ordered Mango Crab Rangoons, Japanese Fried Calamari and Chicken and Pork Potstickers. They were fantastic! The Rangoons were so crispy and tasty! The calamari had a good blend of all pieces and done in a lightly battered finish which allowed more of the calamari flavor to show through than the oil trapped in the batter. The potstickers were good too.We also ordered Truffle Oil Egg Fried Rice with Bulgugi Ribeye and CrawfishFried Rice. Both were EXCELLENT! The Truffle oil ribeye Wes soft and buttery and very flavorful. The crawfish were plentiful and I asked for it made Spicy and was just right. For the Shabu Shabu we ordered Kurobuta Pork Belly, Premium Short Ribs, American Kobe Eye Kalbi, American Wagyu Chunk Ribeye and Australian Wagyu Beef. All were cut thin, meat was good quality and had good marbling and looked amazing! The broth was lightly spiced and complimented all the cuts perfectly. I wish the waitress would have told us more about the sauce station available ($2 per person) so that we would have experienced all the flavors with all the great cuts.Deserts were good but the person who made them took 20+ minutes to produce. The fresh Mango Sunday was really good. All in all, it was a great day. The food was great, but the place lacked the trained service to make it great. Will we be back? Definitely! Their food is worth the trip. But their service has to improve for it to be a great place.“
