“Love this place! The soup here is amazing, some of the best soup I've ever had. I got the cabbage soup and white borscht soups but want to try them all. The perogis are also amazing. The place doesn’t look like much from the outside but the inside is inviting and the owners are very friendly and welcoming. Give it a try!!Cash only so come prepared.“
“Drop everything and run over to Smakosz for the best, homemade Polish dishes you're likely to ever encounter. My friends, Renee and her husband Bart have been serving up the finest Polish dishes for over 30 years. All fresh, natural ingredients created by a kitchen staff that reminds me of my favorite Aunts. Polish cuisine doesn't get any better than this. I tried the homemade Pierogi's, Polish Potato Pancakes & Meatballs with Dill Sauce, everything was out of this world !!“
“Reminded me of my gramma’s Eastern European home cooking: delicious beet soup, goat cheese & beet salad, veal meatballs, mashed potatoes and apple kuka (strudel-like cake)! Although people rave about the beef stroganoff, the beef was dry & stringy and I had to add a lot of salt & pepper. Also, the cabbage rolls had tasty tomato sauce and lots of meat & rice but just a wafer-thin cabbage wrapping.“
“After visiting the Czech Republic, I was craving authentic Czech goulash (which, in my opinion, is the best goulash in Europe). As someone living in the loop, I was willing to make the trip to the suburbs based on the authentic menu- the food exceeded expectations and was exactly like the goulash I had in Prague. We also had the schnitzel (pork), but was surprised they did not have a veal or beef option.Service was excellent and there is a nice bar with whatever game is on as well. Beer was appropriately priced and poured well.No doubt would come here again whenever I have a Czech cuisine itch to scratch.“
“Amazing little bar tucked behind Midway airport. Best Polish food around! Pierogis are to die for! Goulash soup, potato pancakes,& more! They have a Polish sampler platter that has a taste of everything you could want!! Go! Eat! Enjoy!!“
“Polish food buffet. Personal favorite is the savory tripe soup.Returned 4 years later. The interior has been updated. The food is still great. What I want to focus on is the parking. There is metered street parking and a small lot across Natchez Ave. There is an auxiliary lot to the west of the restaurant.Parking: The parking lot across Natchez Ave is tight; it's really tight. They obviously wanted to maximize the number of spaces and they sure did. If someone parks a huge SUV (Escalade or Excursion) or a long pick-up (F-250), you are in trouble. Plenty of street parking. It is metered until 6pm at $2.50 an hourly. The auxiliary lot was blocked by a delivery truk.“
“I wanted to have an authentic polish experience with a friend and this place couldn’t be more authentic. From atmosphere to food to languages spoken, we felt like we were transported to another place. While the stuffed cabbage was our favorite, other food was good. We liked polish style goulash with pancakes, paczki (polish style donut) and rumbo (dessert with rum inside). Iced tea/fruit punch went well with all the food.We witnessed a long line form often with people buying bakery items and food to go. While we were among many who dined it was nice to be part of a busy cafe while enjoying our food. The staff were nice people and I want to come back again. Soup of the day is on my list to try plus other pastries.“
“We drove from Wisconsin just to eat at this place and will do it again. The food was amazing, everything was fresh because it was being consumed so fast, the empty plates were removed from the table right away, other buffets will let the plates pile up, make your way to this place, it is a cash only “
“I have been coming here for almost 2 decades when I'm visiting the area. The best part here is they can split and grill your Polish Sausage which brings out the flavor from the center of the sausage. They listen carefully to your instructions and they are very quick here. There is two places that compete on this street a few steps away from each other. Make sure you go to the one that says "Express Grill".“
“Service with a smile at this last bastion of true polish cooking! You want kielbasa, they got it!You want platki, they got em!Stuffed cabbage calling you? It's like grandma's!Lots to eat, leave full, great tasting and the service is as great as the perogies!AWESOME!“
“Super friendly and clean the food was great and even if you don't speak polish there are photos everywhere to help you order... I'd recommend the kebab if you're very hungry or if you're looking for something a bit lighter than the Zapiekanka is the way to go... And please don't forget to tip!“
“Food great and tasted deliciousOnly one little problem ,if you come here for quick dinner not recommended. If you have more time -Yes, go there take friends, get glass of wine, order appetizer ( but noting special on menu for appetizer),dinners will take them to bring to your table 45 min.Hope my review will make change and improve…..May be if they serve worm bread with butter we will forgive them long time for wasting….“
“We LOVE Kimski! We almost always order the wings, Maria’s Standard, pierogis, and the fries. We really like how Kimski participates in Community Kitchen where they provide free meals on Wednesdays. It makes them more than just a restaurant. They support the community and give back. Kimski also has special menu items from time to time to change things up a bit. We really look forward to trying new dishes there. If we feel like pizza we order from Pizza Fried Chicken and Ice Cream because it’s right around the corner and they allow you to eat it at their patio. You can also order alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages since Maria’s Packaged Goods is right there and they have a bar. It really is a one stop shop with different food options.“
“Great food and service. We were looking for authentic Polish food and were not disappointed. The server was very attentive and came by often to see how we were doing. We had the goulash and the Pierogi's and both were excellent. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.“
“This is honestly one of my favorite restaurants in the Midway Airport area. Hands down best polish food in the area also. Me and my family usually come in Fridays for lunch and we are never disappointed. Whoever the cook is on Fridays is incredible. The waitress is always kind and helpful:)“
“Wonderful restaurant and bar. They serve authentic Polish dishes. The atmosphere makes you feel like you have been transported to Poland. The servers wear authentic Polish clothing and speak Polish as well. The service was fast and efficient. The food was absolutely amazing. I got the European plate- grilled kielbasa, perogies topped with bacon, saurkraut, and potato pancake. They offer chicken tenders and fries for kids. They have a lovely libations list. If you are looking for a genuine Polish dish... this is the place.“
“This place is a total experience! The food is delicious, the decor is artsy and beautiful, and the owners are absolute gems. my family and I went for the first time yesterday and had the BEST time. we came for some quick pierogi but stayed for the ambiance, warm welcome, and fantastic conversation with the owners. This cafe is charming beyond belief and we will definitely be back. This is the perfect place to stop in with some friends or loved ones when you are out and about in the neighborhood. I guarantee you will want to come back again and again.“
