“I’ve heard of this spot for a while and finally tried it. First time here. And I’m in love. So many options to try and combos. They drinks are amazing. Definitely a new spot on my list. SOOOO Cheesy!!! SO DELICIOUS! I would recommend this for a cute first date. Look at pics and videos hopefully does it justice!“
“What an awesome Chicago food experience! Get the Italian beef sandwich dipped and you won’t regret this beautiful and messy experience. Add the beef in a cup for bonus points and extra protein! The prices are very fair given how much beef you get. It’s a fun and messy sandwich spot and a must try if you’re in Chicago. I would go back in a heartbeat. Check out my photos.“
“Had not realized that the Red Hot Ranch burger was also brought to 35th St. Red Hots. Looks like this was introduced to all RHR locations since 2021 and menu and prices are similar to RHR on Ashland. No fish sandwich and no self-serve fountain, but this is a smaller place with still a counter for indoor seating for bad weather. $7.23 (or $8 incl tax) gets you their double cheese with a generous amount of fries. If the weather is good you got two picnic tables up front and two on the side with umbrella shades. They've got ketchup bottles ready to borrow if you're dining inside/outside.“
“For me. The best hotdog and fries in Chicago. Great atmosphere. Nice and clean. Overhearing some of the conversations between staff during food call outs are funny as hell. Everyone is known as honey, sweetie, or sweetheart. The mom and daughter duo are great.“
“Extremely popular, and very touristy. We came here after watching some food blogger’s recommendation. And it’s worth. It’s a shack like hot dog stand. They are super fast and cheap. We got a Polish sausage sandwich. It was hot and came with some caramelised onions on top and some roasted peppers as side. The sausage was good and the peppers were very refreshing. The fries were given as a side and they were hot, crunchy, and well seasoned. They don’t have any done in facility. However, you can stand and eat on the standing racks. Those stands/ racks were quite dirty- so we ultimately ate sitting inside our car. Overall, highly recommended if you are looking for a low cost, fresh meal.“
“I liked the hamburgers, they are delicious, they cook them right away, the delicious onion rings give you a very delicious dip.Parking: The parking lot is large and if you don't want to eat at the tables you can eat in your car or inside.“
“The food was amazing, we got Hotdogs and fries and they were piping hot and delicious. The location is also pretty cool, beautiful Chicago views any time of the day, they also had great customer service, the guy behind the counter was super friendly and the food came out super fast.“
“Man this place is such a GEM. I’ve lived in the area for years in different spots and always end up ordering from here frequently. Their consistency is spot on. Their burgers are actually delicious. For SLIGHTLY more than the cost of fast food you could eat a real burger and fries. It’s not gonna be a fancy “artisan” burger or hot dog. You pay a cheap price for food that was made with classic Chicago charm and no pretentious intent. I will always gas this place up to my friends, I hope it stays here forever, would give it 10/5 if I could.“
“My favorite Mochinut so far!!!! ?They're eager to help you and if you're indecisive like me then that's a huge help!!!! I wnjoyed the recommendations and so far they're my new FAVORITE items!!!!!! The Ube Donut and Hot Cheetos with Beef Sausage and Cheese with avocado sauce are what I got and really enjoyed!“
“Love love love.Had everything on the menu, twice. All great.Service is amazing. Order, go upstairs to murphy's and they'll bring it up.The people who own and run it are wonderful warm and friendly people.FWIW, I loved them so much they catered my wedding.Go! Enjoy! Don't even try to use the ketchup.“
“It's a Chicago Westside classic!? Ordering and receiving your food takes literally minutes! And they have plenty of parking! This is very good because the restaurant is situated at a very busy intersection of Grand and Pulaski. My only other slight gripe is that sometimes they tend to over salt the fries a bit, which isn't good if you're trying to lower your cholesterol intake, but it's a seldom issue. Overall, this place is a must try if you're traveling through the West Humboldt Park area and seeking good, cheap eats! Enjoy!“
“Just had a big baby double cheese burger, large dr. pepper, onion rings and sport peppers on side. the location wasn't busy and enjoyed the speedy service. they do take credit/debit cards for a 25 cents processing fee. Definitely recommend it.“
“Visited for the first time today and the food absolutely delivered. I got a single cheeseburger, fries and a chocolate shake and my wife got an Italian beef with Swiss cheese and hot peppers, DUNKED of course, and it was everything you could possibly want. 10/10 will be back again.“
“I'm from Atlanta Ga ,and was visiting family and friends and we stopped in for a hotdog ..delicious ? and the fries tastes like McDonald's fries ( although they are not )lol I ate mine and my friends..nice atmosphere, and the gentleman who took our order was great ?“
“This place was awesome! The folks running the place were great! They took the time to help make recommendations and talk with us, which we super appreciated. The Chicago dogs were fantastic and the fries were tasty! Definitely recommend! Can't wait to come back and try more of the menu!“
“I first found out about Fat Johnnie’s from Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations. It’s a shack on the side of the road that serves the best hot dogs you’ve ever had in your life. You won’t regret making the trip. It’s phenomenal as are the people running it. The tamale’s are great too.“
“Cash only! Went with the double cheeseburger and fries as well as the hot dog. The burger was two smash patties with American cheese. The patties were crispy with the edges being even crispier. The lettuce, tomato, onion, and sauce were all typical. The fries reminded me of five guys just not as tasty. They also got cold quickly which didn't help. Finally, the hot dog was a regular boiled dog that was slightly sweet. Definitely a contrast to the burger. Even though it's cash only, you only need $8 for a double cheeseburger. Combing the price and taste, well worth a visit.“
“I've tried many fancy, trendy, and much more expensive burgers but I still prefer the big baby cheeseburger (with small fries of course). It came out piping hot (drools). While it is two patties, the burger itself is not huge (which I consider to be a good thing) and the portion is very reasonable. Just a well-balanced, well-built, good-quality burger that's buttery in all the right places. 10/10 every time. Delicious!“
“Went to Lulu's with family I had two Polish sausage meals they were cooked hot and fresh My other family member had a gyro sandwich that was delicious well proportioned.I look forward to coming back for a nice down-to-earth place if you have time ,I suggest you please stop by You won't regret it.“
“This is a no nonsense Chicago spot. The signage was probably put up when my grandpa was a kid walking down Taylor street flipping a quarter. Anyway, the combo sandwich was excellent. I've been eating a lot of mediocre beef sandwiches lately and this place is worth checking out because their sandwich was outstanding“
“I am a very huge fan of smaller scale restaurants that can be found hiding in the city. Family-owned businesses are typically the ones that have the best food because they do not necessarily look into mainstreaming menus and recipes. with smaller restaurants, you can typically find amazing price opportunities as well as some unique food that has not been released to the broad market. It almost makes locations like this become a treasure if you come across them. Huge shout-out for Lola's. Amazing dogs, burgers, shakes! give them a try when you get the chance. For me, it was worth every penny!“
“I remember as a young child...eating the Best Hotdog Ever...and it was Dave's...our parents took us there on weekends for special treats....Thank you for the Precious memories and still Best Hotdog Ever...Positive Power Always Precious Friends...Kid-friendliness: Always made us feel welcome as children.“
“This place is busy and it's clear to see why. We had the OG, Sweet Potato, and Hot Cheeto all of which were good. Fries and lemonade were also good. The wait wasn't too bad given that everything is made fresh to order. Would definitely return.“
“Such a great Chicago Dog! Great service! The best hot dog I've ever had. We have never been to Chicago and they gave us a Chicago Dog on the house.Kid-friendliness: The corn dog was a hit with my kid. They had Jenga on the tables to play with.“
“I have driven past this establishment for decades, but I was meeting a family member here to pick up something. This was a real hard-core food experience. The meat was extremely tender.Breaded pork steak sandwich. This 2 lb beast was the real deal. Seriously so large, I got two meals out of it.The best part is at the end of the off ramp and back on the freeway when it's time to go home and nap.Btw-the pic is only half of the sandwich.“
“Clark Street Dog, a fun little bar that has all the charm that a Chicago bar should. The food is some of the best, the wings are always juicy, and the Philly is a must. If you’re unsure, make sure to consult with Ancella. Who’s amazing and vibrant personality really brings this place together. Come here for a quick beer, or bring friends for a couple shots. Either way fun ensures.“
“Great food. Service could of been better. I entered my name at the kiosk, but they were calling order numbers. But my name was on the receipt. They gave me the wrong food but I gave it back. They made me feel like a jerk for taking the wrong food. Other than that, everything was great! A Chicago must!“
“Hot and delicious and pure Chicago, the perfect first stop on our tour of Chicago from South Bend. No ketchup on our dogs today! Kim and Carlo's was ready for us and will be ready for your large group too. Don't miss this view!“
“In the area found myself here and I'm glad I did. Ordered a double cheeseburger ? this was made perfectly. I mean like a real homemade burger with grilled onion, cheese, and two well-seasoned burger patties. 9.3. The burger came out hot n fresh plus the cheese melted making this a messy, gooey, rich burger. It's cash-only here thou, but for me, this place is a gem probably in my top 10 for burgers in the city.“
“Everything about this place was just... Mediocre. Just to be clear, there was nothing wrong with the food or service but it didn't illicit the nostalgia I was looking for. I grew up in a suburb not far from Chicago but moved to Louisville, Kentucky about 18 years ago and I think we have a Chicago transplant restaurant owner that does Chicago-style cuisine better than this. The prices are reasonable and the food is decent so I'm not mad about getting food here. We had just gotten into town and were starving so having a bite to eat here did the trick. I just think there may be a better place to eat.Wheelchair accessibility: The elevator to the bathrooms on the second level were out of order when we were there so not sure what folks did when stairs weren't an option.“
“Stopped here for a late night bite. I got a single cheeseburger with everything on it and my boyfriend got the Big Daddy Burger. My burger was good, but nothing special. The big daddy burger was given a 10/10 and I personally tried the gyro meet and it was pretty tasty. We shared an order of fries and they were super crispy.“
“I LOVE this place. My family and I have been eating here for years, and still counting. I love that when I call, the lady answering knows everyone's order before I tell her what it is. That is some great customer service. They care about you and your food. 10 out of 10 recommend.“
“I've ordered a dozen Mochinuts for pickup 4 times now and not only is everyone in the Fullerton store helpful and welcoming, but the donuts are delicious and an office favorite. Everyone wants them when we're celebrating a birthday and they are truly a treat! Please open a location in Avondale!“
“I love this place for a great Chicago dog and fries! They always have awesome toppings and the way it comes together when you eat it is amazing. Add some fries and you are getting tons of the best crispy, delicious fries. I think there fries are better that McDonald’s!“
“This is my go to spot right off the highway when I forget to make food or don't have enough time to make food for lunch.I usually go for the 2 hot dog special, Chicago style. I have never been disappointed with the food, and they're probably some of the better hot dogs around. The guys working behind the counter are friendly and welcoming. If I'm running late I will call the order in, and it's always ready waiting for me when I get there.Overall it's a good place to go to, and I will continue to go there in the future when I don't have time to make food.“
“My Wife and I were blown away at how tasty the food was. Everything was very flavorful and well seasoned. And the prices were great for the portion sizes which were generous. My Fire Burger especially was a good full sized burger. And best of all everything was halal.Everyone working here was very polite and accommodating. They let us go into the back to wash our hands before we ate.The inside seating is very limited since this is a very small place. They did have an outside seating area so in the summer time there is more seating. They had an extensive menu including delicious Mexican food.“
“I'm a little embarrassed to admit I was born in Chicago (and lived here the past 10 years) and have never tried a Maxwell style polish. So after leaving a movie at the nearby Regal, I decided to stop in here to finally experience one.And boy was I NOT disappointed.I feel incredibly luck to have a place like this that is open relatively late on the north side. The service was great, the prices very reasonable, and the music, cleanliness and vibes immaculate. And the polish piled high with grilled onions and mustard plus a few peppers and a can of orange pop... just perfection.I'd like to try some of the other items on the menu (bone in pork chop sandwich!?!)... but it will be hard to not order just the polish and fries (which are included with the sausage!)“

“Horrid! As a native Chicagoan I never expected to be disappointed by a neighbourhood hot dog stand. Yesterday, for the first time I went to Jr’s Red Hots. For starters they messed up the order of two hotdogs with fries. Instead we received two overcooked polish sausage with greasy fries. I couldn’t consume more than two bites of either. It was obvious the grill and oil from deep fryer aren’t routinely cleaned. Failed on a grand scale!!!! Never going back to Jr’s.“
“5 star food. The fries are delicious, the burgers are huge. I haven't tried much else but the few things I tried off the menu have all been stellar. The menu is just huge, full of Chicago favorites. This little mom n pop can roll with the best of them. If you're looking for good food and not worried about glare, this is the place. I guess it's like they say, the more dangerous the neighborhood the better the food.“
“Love this place! I stop in every 2-3 months for cold take-home Beef Salami, Hard Salami, Polish Sausage, Corned Beef & Pastrami. While I’m there I order a Polish or their daily special from the grill area. Best of the best!! Denise is a sweetheart.“
“Food is fantastic! You must get the cheeseburger and fries in a paper bag with ketchup!! Absolutely delicious!! The service is amazing! The folks that run the restaurant are very kind. It's a family joint. I love coming here for burgers.“
“I have been coming here for almost 2 decades when I'm visiting the area. The best part here is they can split and grill your Polish Sausage which brings out the flavor from the center of the sausage. They listen carefully to your instructions and they are very quick here. There is two places that compete on this street a few steps away from each other. Make sure you go to the one that says "Express Grill".“
“They make you feel welcome as soon as you walk in the restaurant looks really clean and the food is delicious and fresh. It was my first visit and I was impressed. I had their pozole. and also had a torta de carne asada I highly recommend this place.“
“I’m obsessed with their grilled chicken salad. It’s made right there on the spot and has the best, juiciest chicken. The service is always super friendly, and it’s a happy, fun décor. My kids have loved going here since they were little and we always swing by when we are in the area.Kid-friendliness: Great food and shakes“
“The vibe of this place is cool and my friend and I truly enjoyed our food! We can’t wait to come back! My friend got the chicken tenders and I got the Chicago dog and we shared a bag of fries(which was a great size for the price) and we were agreeing that when we move here in a few months that this will be the spot for our lazy dinner nights“
“Can't go wrong at Maxwell Street. Their polish sausage, hot dogs, and pizza puffs are delicious. There isn't really an area to stand and eat in the winter but seems to be in the summer. Basic Maxwell street location and nice to visit this one before/after Sox games. The guys working move quickly and are friendly“
“Best hot dogs in Chicago! I first learned about this place when I saw it on Conan and Triumph the Insult Comic Dog visited with Jack McBrayer. Go check it out on YouTube for yourself! It was hilarious and I knew I had to visit this place next time I was in Chicago! If you have a great sense of humor and don’t mind being insulted by the employees, then this place is for you! When I say insulted, I mean vulgar and down right bad! LMFAO!!! Go check it out! The food is amazing and the obscenities are memorable!“
“A basic, unassuming hotdog stand right next to the Field Museum. They have the regular Chicago dog (onions, mustard, tomato, sport pepper, celery salt, pickle spear). They also have vegetarian and turkey dogs as well as polish dogs. You can have the basic toppings mentioned above as well as chili, cheese, and sauerkraut. You can also purchase water or canned soda and chips. All combos (dog, chips, drink) appear to around 10-11 dollars (prices reflect a 3% cash discount). You can enjoy one after leaving one of the museums while checking out water views!“
“Best Sandwiches around - Steak Sandwich - Shish Kabob Sandwich - Italian Sausage or beef or combo you cannot go wrong - Mike and family are the best people. The fries are fresh cut and does the double fry so crispy outside and fluffy and soft inside.“
