Chef Doug Psaltis is a true expert and artist performing at the highest levels. The gyros are the best, best gyros in Chicago by far, the seafood world class, the homemade bread and pita are incredible. The foods and meats are cooked over wood fire, wood fire grilled. We had our daughters baptism catered from here which was excellent assortment of Greek food - this is a Greek restaurant you will go to for many years to come.“

All our holiday needs were easily available for us. Unfortunately, we moved out to Poplar Grove, Illinois near Belvedere and have missed them greatly. “This one deserves a longer review. I find it very rare to taste authentic, yet modern, Greek food outside Greece. Unfortunately, most other attempts mess up something (lettuce in Greek salad), take culinary shortcuts, diffuse Mediterranean elements to attract customers. Not this one. Noema, which translates to meaning, is an exception I'd travel to Chicago to remember how great Greek food it. Keep it up folks and come to Texas!“

“First day in Chicago and after a long roadtrip we wanted to eat something familiar and as Greeks..Taxim was the first restaurant that popped near our renting area. The food was DELICIOUS.. authentic tastes, we got the Prassopita, haloumi , souvlakia and Kokoretsi pair with some greek FIX beers. The atmosphere on the terrace was beautiful, the smell of roasting meets made everything feel like you are in a cute restaurant somewhere in a village in Greece. Our server was very kind and knowledgeable. All the stuff was very polite and welcoming!“

“I stumbled on this place as being new to the neighborhood. I found them on DoorDash a$12 Gyo meal. Every piece of meat had a different size cut and texture that I could appreciate. I knew that this meal was cut and made per order. The tzatziki sauce tasted homemade. The pita bread was soft and fresh. I received a $25 meal for $12. I will be coming back to try more.“

“Salonica is just the right kind of diner for breakfast lunch or dinner.

Update July 2026: Salonica is open everyday but closes at 3 pm monday to thursday and stays open for dinner on the weekends. Still good breakfast menu. I always get the No. 3.“

I got a gyro plate loaded with shaved lamb and beef, spicy feta, crisp cucumber, and tons of tzatziki over lemon rice. Meat was super tender and seasoned right. Portion sizes are huge for what you pay, and the line moves quick.“

The food is always fresh, flavorful, and delicious. It’s easy to see why Maggie’s Gyros stays so busy, even with another gyro place right across the street.

Their new milkshakes are an awesome addition — thick, tasty, and definitely worth trying. The portions are great, the food is consistently good, and there’s plenty to choose from.

If you’re looking for halal food, just request halal when ordering. Highly recommend Maggie’s Gyros for the wings, gyros, and those amazing new milkshakes!“

“Well originally I was craving for Portillos but since this whole week I've been working at Midway I kept seeing this hole and below local restaurant.. This is my first time trying Nikki's and I was actually suprised at the Italian beef. It was not bland compared to Al's Beef or Portillo's but at the same time it was not too salty. I like that they use steak fries. Very chunky. As for the choice of a drink for the meal for $12.99 they had horchatas as well as Jamaican juice and mango or the regular soda fountain drinks. I would have given them four stars for my experience but after seeing that they don't have a bathroom to wash your hands. Service was ok. Ambience was like a hole in the wall or very local which is good. I would come back but next time would like to try their burgers or their barbecue rib tips. I do recommend for such food“
