“Returned for the first time since 1985! Owner established that they’ve been there since 1978. Didn’t recognize anything but just wanted to bring home a Gyros and I did. Highly recommend it. Pita was perfect. Was still warm when I got home. Huge sandwich with an incredible amount of gyros and an awesome tzatziki sauce. Fresh tomatoes and onions—my mouth is watering 5 hours later writing this review. They’re still going strong after almost 50 years cause they’re friendly, consistent and serve great food!“

“I have gone to Andros Taverna for many years now where I am never disappointed and always impressed with the service, the quality of food and ingredients, the atmosphere and the passion in general. Chef Doug Psaltis is a true expert and artist performing at the highest levels. The gyros are the best, best gyros in Chicago by far, the seafood world class, the homemade bread and pita are incredible. The foods and meats are cooked over wood fire, wood fire grilled. We had our daughters baptism catered from here which was excellent assortment of Greek food - this is a Greek restaurant you will go to for many years to come.“

“Had lunch there today and I have to say this is the first time I was disappointed with the service. The food was excellent but that's it. Asked for 2nd drink and never got it. Water was never refilled until we were through eating. When first ordering our wine we had problems. I will continue to eat here and hopefully this is a one time occurrence.“

“Always loved their Greek pastries, they are the best, started going to them 60 yrs ago with my mom and dad. We were always going to Hellas for our parties baptisms and weddings. All our holiday needs were easily available for us. Unfortunately, we moved out to Poplar Grove, Illinois near Belvedere and have missed them greatly. Always love them and it brings a tears to my eyes, that they are still around. God bless them. My parents knew the owners personally.“

“It has the absolute best food! In the 30+ years we’ve been going for dinner, we’ve never had a bad meal! The Athenian chicken and kabobs are outstanding, along with the Greek fries. “First day in Chicago and after a long roadtrip we wanted to eat something familiar and as Greeks..Taxim was the first restaurant that popped near our renting area. The food was DELICIOUS.. authentic tastes, we got the Prassopita, haloumi , souvlakia and Kokoretsi pair with some greek FIX beers. The atmosphere on the terrace was beautiful, the smell of roasting meets made everything feel like you are in a cute restaurant somewhere in a village in Greece. Our server was very kind and knowledgeable. All the stuff was very polite and welcoming!“

“Had an amazing meal at Kouklas! Was referred by a friend, and so glad we tried it. Meal comes one plate at a time (think full size tapas) and every dish was delicious. Ordered the Eggplant, Dolmades, Octopus, Branzino, and Soulvaki - it was all wonderfully prepared. Dessert was great too. Service was very attentive. Can’t wait to come back and try other dishes! “My fiancé and I have been a gyro war. I’m a Skokie Dengeos girl and he’s a diehard Squabs fan. While it’s hard to compete with childhood memories after trying Squabs I totally get it. The gyro was perfectly cooked, the tzatziki was beautiful, the fries were delicious. The absolute standout was the customer service. I was having such a bad day. I confused the gyro plate with the gyro dinner and they took such good care of me. I had cried the whole ride over and left with the biggest smile and a plate of leftovers. 10/10 I will be coming back every chance I get.“

“The best gyro spot in Chicago, the gyro was fresh and delicious if you’re looking for a gyro this is the spot I have not tasted anything else here however the staff is friendly and make you feel like you’re picking food at your aunts place. I’ll post a picture next time I forgot to take one 🫪“

Their grilled chicken, burgers, fries, chilli everything is so good. The prices have gone up a lot in the last 10 years and still more budget friendly than so many other places in the area. I go here 3 to 4 times a month. Great staff. Always friendly and fast.“
