The food, drinks, service and recommendations were excellent. We were celebrating a birthday, and everything from the Oaxacan tlayuda to the Cornish hen with mole and the margaritas made with mezcal from the owners’ hometown in Oaxaca made for a great meal.
The margarita and Bloody Mary really good drinks, we also order a huitlacoche quesadilla, garnacha and queso panela. The taste of frijol molido with chips is like the one you can find in Oaxaca city. For sure we’ll back for the tlayudas, we just went for a drink to wait for a friend and end it tasting more that a drink.
First time here. Great food and good drinks. Didn’t take a picture of the appetizers because we were so hungry and just dug in and ate them. The squash flower appetizer was delicious. Definitely recommend it.
The entrees were delicious as well. The red mole sauce had great flavor and just a touch of heat.
The coconut dessert was surprisingly the best dessert we ordered.
The chair seats are higher than a normal chair and were awkward and a little uncomfortable.

Based on the reviews, Kie-Gol-Lanee Uptown is a delicious restaurant worth every penny. The food is very unique and tasty, with specific meals like the Oaxaqueno Rojo, Enchiladas de Pollo, Tres Leches, Carne asada tlayuda, nopales salad, sopa de elote, and huitlacoche quesadilla. The mole on the enchiladas is a highlight, and the restaurant is great at customizing orders. The service is fantastic, with an attentive and respectful staff. The atmosphere has a perfect cozy neighborhood feel, with beautiful bolleros playing in the background and the option to choose music like Rock en Espanol. The drinks are delicious, including the Old Fashioned and Prickly Pear margarita, and the beans served complimentary with chips are great. The restaurant provides a great table in the back section for parties to enjoy themselves.
