“Spunky shop in a gritty part of town. No inside seating and it was way too cold to sit on the patio this morning, so unfortunately I was in and out quick and didn’t talk to the baristas cuz they looked busy. But I really liked the urban hipster look and feel (and fun branding) especially given the rough neighborhood location. And they roast their own beans so the coffee was bold.“
“The unassuming front of the cafe does little to prepare the coffee aficionado for what awaits them inside this quaint and modern cafe. The palette of this modern cafe is white/white marble and tans and other earth tones. Minimalist to a fault, this cafe breaks tradition with its thumping techno music and THC-infused menu. Don’t worry, you can find your classic favorites of THC-free beverages ranging from latte to americano, but I implore you to try one of their signature drinks. Happy sipping!“
“The owner - Tim - was so friendly. I stopped in for a pastry & he asked if I wanted any coffee to which I explain I don’t drink coffee at all! He asked why & explained it wasn’t really my taste in general nor did I drink caffeine. He then proceeded to make me a decaf charlatte on the house simply to show me how amazing coffee can taste. I’ve purchased it since ;) 11/10 recommend this place!!“
“Found this gem while walking to my apartment and I have to say this coffee and tea shop is the cutest place I’ve been into, defiantly buying some merchandise from here. I’m a coffee and tea lover so I’m definitely coming back for more.“
“Crowded!!! Middle of the afternoon out of season, still 15 minutes line to order and around 10 to use the bathroom.Overpriced, tiramisu was 11.50$ other Italian restaurants with fresh desserts nearby can offer more authentic.Service was fast and standard, nothing to complain. Considering how crowded it was always, the store was pretty clean. Which surprises.“
“Of all the places I've tried around the city, Taste of Colombia has the best coffee anywhere in Chicago. My favorite part though is the wonderful people who work there! I feel super fortunate to have them just two blocks from my house. Make sure to give them a try!How cool this place is! They have the best coffee and desserts in all of Chicago, but the best thing is the people who work there. Many thanks to Naima, Toni and Alejandra. Always a pleasure to spend some time with you every weekend!“
“This spot is the real deal. If you’re looking for high quality coffee in Chicago, don’t miss it! I visited Chicago this weekend and was already planning to go, but several shops I went to beforehand sold their coffee, so the hype only grew. Didn’t disappoint in the least. Bought some of their beans.“
“I stumbled upon this cafe yesterday while walking in Pilsen. I ordered a lavender latte, and let me tell you… it was the BEST lavender latte I have ever tried! I loved the cafe’s decor as well and it was very clean. The staff/owner was super friendly and inviting. I am looking forward to my next visit to Mandala Cafe soon! ?“
“Bad Owl is my absolute favorite coffee spot! The cozy vibes and exceptional service won me over instantly. The team there goes above and beyond, and let me tell you, the food is a delightful surprise – they really know how to make your coffee experience special.“
“My Iced Matcha Latte almost didn't make it home (and I live across the street lol), it was SO yummy! The awesome guy at the counter suggested a shot of strawberry and tbh I don't like strawberries much but I love to try new things (like i did Kapej today) and I'm GLAD I did. I most likely won't be drinking my matcha without it from now on! Thanks!! Beautiful establishment. I'll be back tomorrow and the next day and day after that lol!!! ❤️“
“We were visiting Chicago and happened on this place in need of coffee and breakfast. We were very warmly greeted, the coffee smelled amazing too. Their bagel sandwich menu was extensive and creative. We chose three different sandwiches and shared them around and all of them were fresh and very yummy. The bagels were soft, even the whole wheat one. Anything with fig jam is great. The owner, Michelle, stopped to speak to us and was so warm and inviting. In addition to great food, excellent coffee, and a friendly atmosphere, this business is very community minded, and the community seems to really appreciate them. We told others in our party about them and they also enjoyed this place. Now I'm telling you! Highly recommend!“
“I've known for a long time that I can get a great cup of coffee in a pleasant and upbeat shop at Perkolator, but today I learned that they're also a woman-owned business on their Instagram page, so I wanted to hop on here and say, thanks for the great coffee and service, Perkolator. And also thank you for highlighting being woman owned. You rock and I'm celebrating your success today and always.“
“Lovely Atmosphere, beautiful decor and friendly staff! Coconut Lavender Latte is delicious and the coconut curry empanada was delicious I had to grab one more before I left along with my coffee bundles? Will definitely be back and to visit the other ones as well ?? AppreciationVegetarian options: The coconut curry is ?????“
“Good coffee and good prices. I was very impressed with this place. The staff was very friendly and got my order out quickly even though they were busy. It was very busy when I got there and the atmosphere was great.I’m not sure if they have a pet day because there were lots of cute dogs! Would highly recommend.“
“Jimmy is the best! My partner and I have been going there since we moved to Logan Square, and we love the coffee! Today when we tried to get coffee, they were unfortunately closed. Jimmy was so kind and gave us a bag of beans to make up for our driving out, which he definitely did not have to do! Such a kind soul. Love Jimmy Beans! :)“
“Overall Thoughts: I liked the vibes of this spot— very industrial, yet comfortable. The coffee menu is expansive and a bit intimidating at first, but you can’t really go wrong and nothing is too expensive. I ordered a Niccoiola Freddo, which I found pretty tasty, frothy, and had a nice balance of sweetness. I also tried a cherry danish, which I thought was just okay-- not as good as I was hoping.—Price (relative to peers): 4.3/5Drinks/Food: 4.3/5Ambience: 4.7/5Service: 4.7/5Overall Value: 4.3/5“
“Cozy little shop, I don’t drink coffee often but I was happy there were non-coffee drinks and the bubbly mango and dirty coke drinks were so good. The bubbly mango was surprisingly refreshing and the dirty coke tasted like a rum and coke except it didn’t actually have rum so I can’t wait to go back!“
“The best coffee I have ever had!! The aroma is sooooo wonderful when it's brewing and such awesome coffee flavor, no bitterness, no burnt taste or smell just wholesome coffee goodness. If you are a true coffee lover you won't be disappointed!“
“My campus organization got our Formal catered by Coralie and were incredibly pleased! The service we received was phenomenal, as the owner (Pascal) was very communicative and flexible when we needed to change plans. He spoke with me to coordinate the order and even provided delivery. The food was beyond delicious and everyone at the event took the extra servings home! We ordered the tomato, lorraine, smoked salmon, and ratatouille quiches, as well as the flan, napoleon, and lemon meringue. They were all delicious and Coralie provided them presliced for us, which made the event go even smoother. Coralie is well worth the price and a lovely local business!“
“I really like the aesthetic of this coffee shop! It’s really cute. I went right when it opened on a freezing day and the staff was so nice and welcoming.I didn’t get the chance to try any food but I plan on coming back. I think I need to give the latte another chance :)“
“A neighborhood coffee shop is a staple in every neighborhood, and this couldn’t be a better one! Great service, friendly owners, and amazing hand crafted coffee! Lots of love in this place and it shows through the coffee and atmosphere! Cannot recommend the speciality coffees enough, there is nothing bad on the menu!“
“Nice atmosphere and very good coffee and service. It is a little pricey for the more standard coffee, but I still like to stop by every once in a while. They have some creative options that I’ve really enjoyed and come back for on occasion“
“I literally want to find a nook somewhere and just burrow there like a rat and sip on their coffees every morning i wake up. Loyal patron of MetroRoa since 2019 and just got reminded why Ill continue doing so. Coffee is delicious, wake you up without that palpitation Hulk vibes. Customer service always off the charts, shout out to Hunter who gave us a great talk during our visit. Drove from NYC and had to make sure we stopped by. Recommend getting a bag of their cold brew roast, and take a free cup of nitrobrew- you will die and come back as 2.0 version of yourself.“
“We love their beans (especially the light roast). Some of the best coffee in the city. We usually buy their beans to make coffee at home, but every time I've been to their walk-up window, everyone has been very friendly and brewed a good cup of coffee. Grateful to have you all in the neighborhood!“
“Was visiting in Chicago and I came across this coffee shop which seemed to be connected to an office building. Walked in and noticed the Chicago mural on the wall which was a really nice touch. The staff was extremely friendly and made great recommendations based on our likes. He suggested the chai tea with lavender which was hit the spot on a especially on the cold day it was. It is a combo that I'm willing to try again any chance I get. The spice with a little of sweet you couldn't go wrong with that ever. The roasted marshmallow with coffee was the second drink which the roasting of it was done in-front of you which was cool to see and then added to the drink for that sweet flavor and aroma. I visited this shop at least 3 times in the 3 days I was in Chicago.“
“Visiting Groundswell has been an absolute delight every single time. The highlight of my visits, without a doubt, is their flat white. It's not just good; it's consistently great, striking the perfect balance between espresso and milk every single time. This consistency is a testament to the skill and experience of their baristas, who not only craft excellent drinks but do so with an unwavering quality that keeps me coming back.Beyond their impeccable beverages, Groundswell offers freshly roasted coffee beans for sale, allowing you to take a piece of their excellence home. The aroma and flavor of their beans are unparalleled, adding an extra layer of joy to my daily coffee routine. There's no exaggeration in saying that there's no better place for coffee in the area. Whether you're a coffee aficionado or just someone looking to enjoy a great cup, Groundswell is the go-to spot. Their dedication to quality, from the beverages they serve to the beans they sell, sets them apart in the best possible way.“
“It's ok, definitely a lot of seating relatively speaking for a coffee shop. You're standard $6 cup of coffee these days. The vibe is pretty cozy. However the only downside is there aren't enough outlets, probably only 50% less of seats have an outlet nearby.“
“I went here because they were in some of the media last year, I had heard it was really good. It was a really tasty cup of coffee, and my friends all enjoyed their drinks too. Nothing too wild, it operates like a regular coffee shop, but the staff was great, and the drinks were really good.“
“THE coffee spot that nobody knows. Epic views of the river. Super quiet here, not many people but is my new go-to spot to get work done. Only complaint is I wish business hours were longer or open on weekends. TV available to use, board games, and free Retro Arcade machine!“
“This was by far one of the best brunches I've experienced in Chicago! Our server was exceptional and attentive and gave such great suggestions, and the food was beyond words. If the Fora french toast is on the menu...GET. IT. IT WILL BLOW YOUR MIND!! How do they make it crispy and fluffy and magical??? Also...the yogurt parfait....my GOD. How do you make a yogurt parfait taste that good??!! Anyway...it was all beautiful. The music was amazing from the DJ and the ambiance and atmosphere was on point. DEFINITELY going back!“
“An absolutely beautiful locally owned coffee shop in an area with few options. It's open and bright, and they host community events. The staff are friendly and helpful and the drinks (haven't tried the food yet, but hope to soon!) are very good!“
