Visited Metric this morning during a short bike ride around Chicago. Without a doubt the best cortado Ive had in this city. Granted my sample size is small, but this was truly an amazing drink. I am very glad I ventured outside of the tourist lands and made the trip. I even got a recommendation for a coffee shop to visit back home from them. Thanks!
Absolutely everything it was cracked up to be.. easily the best cup I’ve had in town.

The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, creating a speakeasy-like atmosphere in their warehouse storefront located in the brewery district. Visitors can watch the coffee-making process and purchase merch, brewing equipment, and beans. Their flagship espresso has caramel notes and pairs well with milk, while their dark roast beans are perfect for home brewing. The patio is ideal for outdoor seating in the summer, and the space has a cool, pared-down industrial-Scandi look. It is a solid, great spot, though the inside is small and tight during rush hours, feeling more like a grab-and-go kind of place. There is a normal menu and a summer menu, featuring items like the espresso cream soda, cortado, nitro cold brew, and seasonal Honduras cold brew. The baristas are laid-back but legit and do not charge extra for oat milk. Prices are up there compared to corner shops, but you're paying for craft. It is a very quick walk from the green line stop.
