“TenGoku is one of my absolute favorite neighborhood spots. I’m a regular at this point, and for good reason. The flavors are consistently amazing, the sushi is incredibly fresh and high quality, and everything coming out of the kitchen arrives piping hot.

We usually order a variety of small plates and sushi, and there honestly isn’t a miss. The crispy rice with spicy tuna is an absolute must-try and one of the things I find myself craving over and over again.

The space itself is such a great little spot near the West Loop, with convenient street parking, and the staff could not be friendlier. Special shoutout to the manager, Sheila, who is truly the MVP and one of the sweetest people. She always makes us feel so welcome.

“You need to get to here! 🍜 This #hiddengem recently made Infatuation Chicagos list of best ramen places in the city and they’re the only ramen spot staying open until 1:30am! Yes, you can still eat good, late. The Japanese food here is to be enjoyed in their izakaya vibes, which are casual pubs that you can grab lots of small dishes to sample. Honorable mention to the Chicken Curry Ramen and Taiyaki with ice cream - my two favorite items from my visit! I also had a really good Mai Tai and lychee martini. Go check them out for some good food and tell em that Bri from Planes and Plates sent you!“
