“Being from the suburbs traveling downtown can be an experience. This particular experience made our day. Moving our daughter into DePaul we came upon the owner of Red Light chicken who gave us a few pointers in parking near his establishment, after taking the time to help us find a spot he happily welcomed us with a free chicken sandwich which I’m happy to report was delicious. It was nice meeting you tonight and I’ll be certainly stopping by again - Fries are a game changer to!!!“

It’s always delivered fresh and warm and the chicken is amazing the seasonings are fantastic! And the names of the items to order are hilarious also the humor in me makes me laugh at them!“

“Came here for some late night munchies with my friends, I have nothing but genuinely great things to say about this location. I enjoy Daves as a whole chain; however, this particular location takes the cake. Absolutely phenomenal accomodation by the staff, even when it's booming with people and busy. Despite all the orders the staff were slammed with, they still were able to give special, attentive care and respect to every customer. I even learned some of the employees names, and they really stuck with me. Elijah, the cashier, despite the business, accomodated to my needs with absolute care. The general manager (forgive my spelling if misspelled), Fritz, really made an impact on me. His fun and bubbly personality, willing to reach out and ask how his customers were doing, showed me how: even when this specific Daves location's team and workers are slammed with orders and busy, they still do an exceptional job with hospitality and care for customers, and that's not easy and I admire that. Another staff, Ciara, stood out to me due to her fun personality. It speaks volumes to me that I got to meet and remember the names of these workers! 🩷 This location truly made my night I love you Daves! 🐥🐔❤“

We love the whole jefe chicken and order with broccoli, Mac and cheese, and fries (the seasoning for the fries is awesome). Service is great and the music they play is always top tier. “We used to go to their old location all the time when we lived in the city, so we were excited to check out the new location now that we have kids—and it did not disappoint!

The fried chicken and biscuits were delicious, and the portions were huge. The kids’ play area with books, trucks, Connect 4 and more was an awesome surprise, plus the kids got fun crazy straws! It’s genuinely kid-friendly without sacrificing great food.

And the $2 beers with a meal were an unexpectedly awesome deal. Great food, great prices, and a perfect family spot. We’ll definitely be back! 🍗🍺“

“This chicken is so good. I also love the house made salsa style sauce. Favorite sides are the mashed potatoes and coleslaw. This is a creamy style coleslaw with a lot of onion flavor. Very good with black pepper on top. We will be back for sure.“

Very convenient, located near a train station—especially helpful for those without a car. We especially like the galbi boneless chicken and cheesy fries.“

“I ordered the spicy garlic chicken tenders and oh man were they delicious. The portion is large, definitely enough for 2. The tenders themselves are on the smaller side which makes for a perfect ratio of chicken to crisp to flavor. I also ordered curly fries which came out super hot and crispy. Those were delicious but the price was a little high.

The place is cute and comfortable, very clean. The service was great. The woman working the register and tables was super sweet.“

“First thing I noticed is a service. Very accommodating and courteous. I got all wings and have no problem with that they were fresh and I love the sauce. Should have tried them without the sauce because it definitely didn't need it. Everything seemed to be fresh and cooked on the spot. Can't wait to try other things on the menu.“

“We tried the Halal Chicken Burger at Byrd's Hot Chicken. The burger tasted good, but it wasn't particularly memorable or mouthwatering.

The burger came with fries, and they were the highlight of the meal. They were crispy, flavorful, and tasted really good. We would definitely order the fries again on our next visit.

Overall, it was a good experience. The burger was decent, but the fries were the standout item.“

Yet, these held up perfectly even after being sauced and transported. The buffalo wings (right) were good but the lemon pepper ones (left) were excellent. Mac and cheese were also solid.“

The sandwich had that perfect crunch and just enough heat. Wings were juicy, not greasy. Service was quick even with a crowd. Solid downtown chicken spot.“

“This is a busy city area, so plan on walking to this location or getting dropped off. The spiciness and flavor is on point. The chicken is cooked well and it is pretty juicy but it is very greasy/oily. Fries are better than most fast food chains. Service is not terrible but don't expect Chick Fil A service. Check out the menu on the wall and place your order at the kiosk (which also has the full menu on it). As a first timer, I had questions, but I grew tired of waiting to get someone's attention and just ordered. My order was messed up but they looked at my receipt and corrected their error right away. One of the tables were broken and need replacing. Worth mentioning when you have a crowd of people waiting to sit and eat.“
