“Being from the suburbs traveling downtown can be an experience. This particular experience made our day. Moving our daughter into DePaul we came upon the owner of Red Light chicken who gave us a few pointers in parking near his establishment, after taking the time to help us find a spot he happily welcomed us with a free chicken sandwich which I’m happy to report was delicious. It was nice meeting you tonight and I’ll be certainly stopping by again - Fries are a game changer to!!!“

“Came here for some late night munchies with my friends, I have nothing but genuinely great things to say about this location. I enjoy Daves as a whole chain; however, this particular location takes the cake. Absolutely phenomenal accomodation by the staff, even when it's booming with people and busy. Despite all the orders the staff were slammed with, they still were able to give special, attentive care and respect to every customer. I even learned some of the employees names, and they really stuck with me. Elijah, the cashier, despite the business, accomodated to my needs with absolute care. The general manager (forgive my spelling if misspelled), Fritz, really made an impact on me. His fun and bubbly personality, willing to reach out and ask how his customers were doing, showed me how: even when this specific Daves location's team and workers are slammed with orders and busy, they still do an exceptional job with hospitality and care for customers, and that's not easy and I admire that. Another staff, Ciara, stood out to me due to her fun personality. It speaks volumes to me that I got to meet and remember the names of these workers! 🩷 This location truly made my night I love you Daves! 🐥🐔❤“

“We’ve been here a few times and every time the food is awesome. Super easy and healthy dinner option when don’t want to cook. We love the whole jefe chicken and order with broccoli, Mac and cheese, and fries (the seasoning for the fries is awesome). Service is great and the music they play is always top tier. I only have one issue and it's that have they never have the biscuit batter because it's always sold out. 🤷🏾‍♂. The price on the drinks are also incredibly reasonable for a Roscoe village restaurant. “The chicken bowls are amazing and a good value. Most of our party were able to take leftovers for the next day. The sauce choices are incredibly flavorful, you can't go wrong. Personally I liked the mild spice, lemon pepper chicken thighs. The server was very helpful and courteous. Overall, a great choice for a meal while in Chicago.“

“I absolutely love Gina’s!! Better than Marlon’s, Harold’s, uncle Remus, Stony sub, JJ’s, sharks, and even Heinies!! The Batter is original and old fashioned. The perfect crunch with a hence of seasoning. Always fresh everytime! Not too big or little.. just right wings!!! I love Gina’s and I wish I could buy the recipe lol! Staff is very professional because they have been around forever! Love both hot and bbq sauce and they sell ribs as well! “I stopped by Byrd’s Hot Chicken and it definitely delivers on the heat. The space is casual and no-frills, the kind of place you go when you’re craving something bold and messy in the best way.

The Nashville-style hot chicken sandwich was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and packed with flavor. The spice level actually means something here — even the medium has a solid kick, but it’s balanced with just enough sweetness and tang. The fries were perfectly crispy and held up well next to the saucy chicken.

Service was quick and straightforward, which fits the vibe. Overall, Byrd’s Hot Chicken is a solid go-to when you want comfort food with real heat and big flavor, no fuss, just good spicy chicken done right.“

“The wings were impressively crispy and this wasn't even fresh out of the fryer. I've had wings lose their crunch in the walk from the kitchen to the table. Yet, these held up perfectly even after being sauced and transported. The buffalo wings (right) were good but the lemon pepper ones (left) were excellent. Mac and cheese were also solid.“

“Hot Chi Chicken is my go-to for fried chicken in the Loop. Stopped in for a late lunch, grabbed the spicy chicken sandwich combo, 6 wings, and fries. “This is a busy city area, so plan on walking to this location or getting dropped off. The spiciness and flavor is on point. The chicken is cooked well and it is pretty juicy but it is very greasy/oily. Fries are better than most fast food chains. Service is not terrible but don't expect Chick Fil A service. Check out the menu on the wall and place your order at the kiosk (which also has the full menu on it). As a first timer, I had questions, but I grew tired of waiting to get someone's attention and just ordered. My order was messed up but they looked at my receipt and corrected their error right away. One of the tables were broken and need replacing. Worth mentioning when you have a crowd of people waiting to sit and eat.“

“Stopped by Chick-fil-A in the Irving Park/Addison area while passing through Chicago. Like most Chick-fil-A locations, the food itself was good and consistent — the chicken sandwich was fresh, crispy, juicy, and exactly what you expect from the brand. The waffle fries were hot and well seasoned, and the service moved relatively quickly despite the restaurant being quite busy. Staff were polite and professional, which is something Chick-fil-A usually does better than most fast-food chains.

That said, the experience was disappointing overall because the bathroom was closed during our visit. When you’re traveling, especially with kids and family, access to a restroom is not a small issue — it becomes part of the overall customer experience. After driving around the city and stopping specifically to eat and take a break, finding out the washroom was unavailable was frustrating and inconvenient. There didn’t seem to be much communication around it either, which made it even more disappointing.

The restaurant itself appeared fairly clean and organized, and you could tell the staff were trying to keep up with the flow of customers. But for such a high-traffic location, basic amenities really matter. It changes how comfortable and welcoming the experience feels, especially for families, travelers, or anyone stopping in during a long day.

I’ll still say the food quality and customer service were better than many other fast-food places, which is why I’m not giving it a lower rating. But the closed restroom definitely impacted the visit enough to bring the overall experience down.
