Moving our daughter into DePaul we came upon the owner of Red Light chicken who gave us a few pointers in parking near his establishment, after taking the time to help us find a spot he happily welcomed us with a free chicken sandwich which I’m happy to report was delicious. “We used to go to their old location all the time when we lived in the city, so we were excited to check out the new location now that we have kids—and it did not disappoint!

The fried chicken and biscuits were delicious, and the portions were huge. The kids’ play area with books, trucks, Connect 4 and more was an awesome surprise, plus the kids got fun crazy straws! It’s genuinely kid-friendly without sacrificing great food.

And the $2 beers with a meal were an unexpectedly awesome deal. Great food, great prices, and a perfect family spot. We’ll definitely be back! 🍗🍺“

The tenders themselves are on the smaller side which makes for a perfect ratio of chicken to crisp to flavor. I also ordered curly fries which came out super hot and crispy. Those were delicious but the price was a little high.

“Its great place for chicken sandwiches and fries. I had the spicy delux chicken with Mac and Cheese and fries. The Mac and cheese was a bit cold and tasted like KFC Mac and cheese. The fries were crispy and hot, A+. The sandwich had a nice crispness to it, and had nice flavor, it's not spicy for me at all, but still could for some who can't have spicy. The sandwich wasn't soggy either, like other chicken sandwiches, where the breading feels cold or soggy. This one felt fresh and crisp. Will go back soon to try their other options like the fried chicken, and maybe even their spaghetti to try out.“

“We tried the Halal Chicken Burger at Byrd's Hot Chicken. The burger tasted good, but it wasn't particularly memorable or mouthwatering.

The burger came with fries, and they were the highlight of the meal. They were crispy, flavorful, and tasted really good. We would definitely order the fries again on our next visit.

I ordered the Byrd bomb and it was a very generous portion as I had hoped. The sauce is amazing, and the chicken is flavorful and cooked to perfection. The fries are amazing with the seasoning, and the toast was warm and buttery. Extremely satisfied overall, will come back again!“

Ordered medium and it was a good spice level, but if you are sensative to spice, I would opt for the mild as it was hotter than I expected. Their portions are great for the price too. Was worried when I saw waffel fries because you usually only get a handful, but their bag was loaded. Will be coming back for sure.“
