“Tonight, the Wife and I asked for a table of 4, saw multiple tables open. Host replied with "Looks like we're not going to have table free for the rest of the night." Our 2 friends walked in about 5 minutes after us for a table, Host proceeds to not automatically deny them and asks the servers. Servers apparently had a problem with having another table until another server came worked it out. Finally, Wife and I walk back in to join our friends and overhear 2 servers discussing with the host about not seating anyone after 9pm (they close at midnight btw) Great to know that you wanting to close early is more important than actually doing your jobs and making easy money (we only got drinks and 2 apps) Pathetic, will not come back. Sayonara!“
“Support your local mob front!Food was kinda mid and def was hoping to try some Serbian food but they didn't have any. This is definitely a Eastern european take on American food and it feels like gulag food - reminds me of my time I had a nightmare about being sent back to to reeducation camp. Lady was super nice tho and I wish her the best!“
“This is an immaculately clean restaurant in a small, intimate setting, that will transport you back to the Old World with all the beautful decorations brought over from Bosnia. I was served by two lovely older women, who immediately made me feel at home. I ordered the cheese "pita," which is a burek, and which came out piping hot. The Turkish coffee was as good as any I've had back home. Tip: Although Turkish coffee is served with no cream (that's the correct way to drink it), I did ask for a bit of milk on the side. Everything, including the background music, was perfect. Highly recommended. Please note that it's cash only.“
“Met up with some friends here this past weekend. The atmosphere is really nice, but it's such a small space... I wish there was more seating! Luckily, we didn't have to wait long for a table to open up. I ordered a hazelnut latte and pistachio croissant- both were delicious!“
“Easy to miss spot next to Jiffy Lube. I came in when I was changing my oil, and was pleasantly surprised. It's a small quiet place with excellent food. You can tell the owners really care about the quality of the food. I had the chicken wrap and fries and it was fresh and delicious!“
“Polish food buffet. Personal favorite is the savory tripe soup.Returned 4 years later. The interior has been updated. The food is still great. What I want to focus on is the parking. There is metered street parking and a small lot across Natchez Ave. There is an auxiliary lot to the west of the restaurant.Parking: The parking lot across Natchez Ave is tight; it's really tight. They obviously wanted to maximize the number of spaces and they sure did. If someone parks a huge SUV (Escalade or Excursion) or a long pick-up (F-250), you are in trouble. Plenty of street parking. It is metered until 6pm at $2.50 an hourly. The auxiliary lot was blocked by a delivery truk.“
“I highly recommend this restaurant, the food was amazing and the service was fantastic. Special thanks to chef Gustavo. We all enjoyed your delicious food. I was completely impressed with their professionalism and customer service. I was very impressed with the quality of the product I received.“
“I had the chance to check out Himmel's while wandering around Chicago. This German restaurant is located in Lincoln Park, close to the famous Lake Shore trails and steps from the DePaul University campus.Himmel's transports you to a cozy Bavarian village amid the big city hustle and bustle. Stepping inside, I was greeted by the aromas of grilled sausages, sauerkraut and soft pretzels. The dark wood paneling and decorative plates on the walls added to the authentic vibe.We sat down and were promptly served heaping portions of classic German fare. I opted for the jägerschnitzel, a pork cutlet smothered in mushroom gravy. It was tender and flavorful, seriously satisfying my appetite on the windy Chicago evening. With every bite, I swore I heard a "Prost!" My dining companions raved about the spätzle and sausages. The friendly staff made us feel right at home. Our server was knowledgeable about all the Bavarian beer selections. I enjoyed a malty Doppelbock myself. After our fill of food and drink, it was time to explore more of Chicago. I'd recommend stopping by Himmel's if you want to warm up with some hearty German cuisine while taking in the vibe of Lincoln Park. Don't forget to try the apfelstrudel for dessert! I'll be back in this city again for sure.“
“The tapas selection is excellent. Each comes with ~3 servings, and there is something for everyone! Highly recommend the stuffed Spanish peppers and pork medallions. Service is spectacular - they don't judge how bad your pronunciation “
“Service with a smile at this last bastion of true polish cooking! You want kielbasa, they got it!You want platki, they got em!Stuffed cabbage calling you? It's like grandma's!Lots to eat, leave full, great tasting and the service is as great as the perogies!AWESOME!“
“As a perfectionist who doesn’t believe in anything being perfect, I found it hard to give any critiques to our Bistro Campagne experience. Our server, Alexander, did not miss a beat. Every bite of food was exquisite. We enjoyed the escargot and mussels as an app. Then we split the steak frites and salmon entrees. Incredible. I also highly recommend the Spanish Harlem cocktail. We will be back again.“
