Steak 'n Egger down in Pilsen is the absolute definition of a classic Chicago diner. We rolled in way past midnight for some late breakfast and grabbed two stools right at the counter. I ordered the standard steak and eggs with a massive side of crispy hash browns and a black coffee. The cook was working the flat top right in front of us and had our food out insanely fast. The whole place has that perfect vintage energy.
If you want avocado toast and classical music, keep driving. If you want a glorious slab of chicken fried steak drowned in gravy that could fix a bad marriage, sit down. Steak 'n Egger is unapologetic, greasy-spoon perfection. Fast griddle work, black coffee that gets straight to business, and breakfast the way it was meant to be made. 10/10.
