“Not bad for first time...
Biryani was good...
Chicken on the biryani was slightly undercooked and a lot of white rice...🤭🙈
But, still it was good...
And the samosa chat was also decent...
Make sure to ask for plenty of tamarind sauce on the side...“

“The mutton paya was absolutely delicious. The gravy was rich and flavorful and the bowl came with plenty of good meaty pieces. The meat itself was incredibly tender, almost falling off the bone, which made every bite deeply satisfying. You can really tell it was slow cooked with care and skill. For such good paya, Al Halal Zaiqa Restaurant will always be my go to choice.“

“Been coming since 2003-04. We tried the whole menu by now. Id say, the authencity in food, the taste, freshness, over the years, is still the same since day 1. Atleast all our family including 3 generations have eaten here and we still find time to eat here again! By the way , we are from Michigan and coming to Chicago is not a complete trip if not eaten here. Dont mind their simple setup, dont mind if the fixture looks outdated, it truly is the food and its real pakistani taste that other fancy restaurants on devon couldn't offer! Kindly try their juicy BBQ or rightly done Bhindi. It is simply one of the best pakistani food you can ask for!“

“Stopped by Hot N' Spicy Chicago on Devon Ave for a late-night bite and was impressed. Grabbed the Chicken Chutney Roll—tender chicken wrapped in a soft paratha with a tangy chutney kick. Also tried the Masala Fries, which were crispy and packed with flavor. The staff was friendly, and the place had a cozy vibe. If you're in the area and craving a flavorful halal meal, this spot is worth checking out. Definitely coming back to try more of their menu.“

“Tried the authentic Hyderabadi Haleem at Tabaq Restaurant in Chicago, it was next level! Properly slow-cooked, rich, and packed with that real Hyderabad ka taste. The texture was smooth, meat perfectly blended, and the fried onions and lemon on top took it to another level. Masala balance was just perfect. If you’re craving true Hyderabad-style Haleem in Chicago close to downtown, this spot is a must try. Definitely going back again!“

“I have been going to this restaurant for about 10 years. I always order the same thing, Dahl Channa. But recently I've tried the lamb and potatoes with a side of white rice and just two days ago I tried the spinach and potatoes with a side of rice. Both dishes were extraordinary. In wished I'd tried them long before then. Both were delicious and I felt prepared in a healthy mannner.“

“Food is delicious, but for a comfortable place for women to walk in to even pickup orders. You have men’s staring at you or you see smokers right by the door. They should have a better way to everyone feels comfortable and grow their business“

“Absolutely amazing taste! I tried the rumali chicken shawarma and mutton biryani, and honestly, it felt like I was back in Hyderabad. The flavors were spot on, rich, and authentic—especially the biryani, which was perfectly cooked and full of aroma. It’s rare to find this level of desi taste in Chicago, but Al Kabeer nailed it. If you’re craving real Hyderabadi-style food, this place is a must-visit. Definitely coming back again!“

“We ordered Palak Paneer, Butter Chicken, Chicken Pakoda, and Butter Naan.
The food was delicious, with a great mix of Pakistani and Indian veg and non-veg dishes. The place was clean, and the staff was welcoming and friendly.
One suggestion: they take orders orally, which led to a mistake in our order. It would be better if they wrote orders down to avoid any confusion in the future.
Overall, a good experience with tasty food!“

“Price & portions so good you’d think you’re living in early 2000s. A single plate of Biryani that’s like 12 dollars top has enough contents to feed two people. Can’t recommend enough especially if you’re living near UIC campus.“

“Large, generous dishes. Really flavorful food. We tried lagan chicken, achari chicken, and potato samosas. All exceeded expectations and were really good! I will note they had limited menu items, and some things on the menu we wanted to try were not available.“

“Rolled into House of Biryani for lunch on a Wednesday—grabbed the Chicken Biryani special and a Haleem to sip. Biryani was packed with flavor and the Haleem was rich and warming, just hit the spot. Staff were super friendly and chill. Kitchen kept pace, no major wait. Cozy Devon Street gem. Can’t wait to come back for their Friday buffet!“
