Perfect little spot! Great food, wine ambiance and very welcoming staff. Especially loved the white bean soup.
We stopped for a light dinner, the location is strategic, on Michigan Ave across from Millennium Park after checking out the Christmas tree lights. However, we were disappointed by the underwhelming food. The octopus is heavily dressed and too spicy and sour. The batter on the calamari is not good. The pane della casa is mixed taste, the cracker is a bit bitter as if it's over toasted. The apple panzanella, however, is surprisingly good, it looks simple but has complex taste and texture.

The wait staff were great but the manager(guy in suit) was less than reasonable. After we'd paid about a $400 bill, we discussed if if we were going to order a bottle of champagne or wine next. Then this average male, in a suit came to our table to ask about our experience. He then proceeded to tell us thay he needs the table. Wow! Ridiculous! Ive managed and owned businesses (including restaurant and nightlife) for a very long time, this is definitely not the way you treat people. Too bad. Food was underwhelming, we tried a few dishes- too salty. Too bad.

I came here with my aunt, she flew in from Atlanta for us to go to a show. The Harris Theatre is a 5 min walk away. Our server Allison was fantastic. She never rushed us (we wanted to catch up a bit and take our time) and was extremely knowledgeable about the menu. The manager on duty that night, Thomas, noticed I had lost my voice and offered hot water, lemon and honey without me asking. They really go above and beyond to make you feel welcome here! Even w my voice acting up, we were able to have a great conversation and the music / ambience wasn't too much. Excellent food was the cherry on top! I can't wait to come back
Service was great. Food was just OK. Our pizza was on the greasy side,Did not care for that. Risotto was a little mushy. We had drinks that were excellent. Overall I would say it was just an OK lunch.
Waitstaff just okay, food has gone downhill. They removed the beautiful taper candles. So sad.
Our experience was overall good. I went with a girlfriend and we got sat next to the water station which was distracting. And I still had to ask for water hmm. The food was very good. The bruschetta was a small portion but incredible. Wish it had been a little larger as it was the star of the show. The favs bean pasta was very very good. Would def order it again. The special pork was good but other than the mini roasted pears which were amazing the dish wasn't memorable. The service was solid and expected. Other tables got their drinks/wine faster than we did and the affordable wine lacked character and depth. But she recommended the bruschetta so bonus points for her!! The atmosphere was really great and not too loud. We'd go back if we were downtown. Maybe hit up happy hour!
This is a beautiful intimate Italian restaurant with delicious food. I will definitely be returning.
I are here tonight (11/16/2025) for dinner while in town on business and was very happy with the entire experience. Molly behind the bar was a delight and great person to interact with. I highly recommend Acanto if you find yourself in Chicago.

Good place to get racially profiled. The food was good, but the experience was uncomfortable. The couple seated next to us stared at us the entire meal, and the man ended the night by offering us his leftover dessert, which felt disrespectful. It definitely affected the vibe of what should’ve been a nice dinner. If I wanted more dessert I would’ve ordered more. There are much nicer restaurants in Chicago that don’t attract ignorant people or tourists. Don’t waste time if you think you might be racially profiled. The restaurant is too small for all that seating as well. For high end and better everything go to Ciccio Mio.
